'Grey's Anatomy': Sara Ramirez says wedding will not end Callie - Arizona drama Wedding days are often filled with bliss and excitement -- however, they do not often signal the end of problems. Case in point -- what is going to happen moving forward for Callie and Arizona on "Grey's Anatomy." (Warning: the following contains potential spoilers.) Speaking to E! News in a new interview, Sara Ramirez says that the upcoming nuptials for Callie and Arizona will create happiness -- but there will still be problems that remain: "We're not a Hallmark card, and there's always ups and downs, and that's how life goes. I personally just wonder how the whole baby and Mark Sloan with Arizona how all of that is going to play out, if the relationship between Callie and Mark—because of the baby and their history—will trigger something for Arizona? Will that continue to cause friction? And when you share a child with someone, they're not going anywhere. There going to be there, but it's about establishing boundaries. So I'm curious to see who's going to establish what boundary and in what way and if that's going to cause any drama." www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/grey-s-anatomy-sara-ramirez-says-wedding-will-not-end-callie-arizona-drama

'Grey's Anatomy': What's coming for Cristina and Owen This season on Grey's Anatomy, which airs Thursdays at 9PM on ABC 7 in Queens, Cristina and Owen got married, and the two have become a somewhat stable couple after everything they've gone through. However, they haven't been seeing eye-to-eye on one subject—babies—and they're headed for a "life-changing" moment. However, this moment doesn't necessarily involve babies. There seems to be some drama coming up for Cristina and Owen for the rest of the season. According to Kevin McKidd, "Everything's in a state of flux…but I think they're getting down to the nub of what's going on between Cristina and Owen. They've been pretty content this season, but they kind of rushed into something without due diligence [regarding] core fundamental things about how they want their life to pan out." He also said that their "longstanding communication issues" are going to be involved in the drama. Cristina isn't the most open person about talking about her feelings, and "that is one of [Owen's] biggest frustrations." McKidd also called "the final moments of the finale" a "pretty life-changing [moment] for them." But will this all end up "happily ever after" for the couple? McKidd hopes so. It's hard to have a perfect couple on Grey's Anatomy. Right now, Meredith and Derek would be the closest on the show—and they've certainly had their drama in the past. What do you think of Cristina and Owen's relationship on Grey's Anatomy? www.examiner.com/primetime-tv-in-new-york/grey-s-anatomy-what-s-coming-for-cristina-and-owen

Billie Sunday: Anything else you can tell us about the Callie-Arizona wedding? We asked Grey's Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw what other struggles those two crazy kids would have to endure in the future and she told us, "Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers have both talked about, since the inception of the show [Grey's Anatomy] was never about commitment and marriage, it was always about loving someone you're not supposed to love. How do you figure that out? How do you then find your way to them? Do you say "no" to them? Do you go to them? [The show used to be about] impossible relationships, possible relationships in impossible circumstances...but now I think it's sort of evolved and matured to what it is now: about how do you keep and nurture and drive in relationships. That being said, it's a one-hour drama, so you can't just have a bunch of really happy people.I'm just guessing now—this is just Jessica Capshaw guessing—I'm sure there will be fallout [from everything that's happened]...Last season Arizona didn't want kids, so now she has a kid…Does that mean Arizona is going to become the quintessential mother? Is she going to start baking cookies and having bake sales? I have no idea. But my guess is, she won't." Do you think Arizona will be a reluctant participant in the parenting thing, or will she dive right in? www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b238296_spoiler_chat_will_they_reshoot_glee_prom.html?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-kristin&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=twitterfeed&utm_campaign=twitterfeed_kristin&dlvrit=51396

What's the deal with those Grey's Anatomy photos of Meredith and Derek holding a baby? — ReginaNATALIE: Well, it's certainly not what it looks like, as Justin Chambers explains to us. "You know everyone's trying to be Chief Resident, so they have their own little bag of tricks," he says. "Alex has got one that involves orphans [from Africa]. It's kind of crazy and funny." But! It's just possible that Alex's stunt may have some exactly-what-it-looks-like consequences. www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-Criminal-Minds-1032372.aspx

Grey's Anatomy Exclusive: Season Ends With Another Shootout… But There's a Catch Grey’s Anatomy is closing out its seventh season on May 19 much the way it did its sixth: with a lot of victims. The big difference this time is that they’ll be emotionally scarred, not full of lead. “Last year, we had a gunman in the hospital, and there was a shootout,” reminds series creator Shonda Rhimes. “This year, there’s an emotional shootout when the season is done, and Meredith, Alex and Cristina are not left unwounded.” www.tvline.com/2011/04/greys-anatomy-season-finale-7-spoilers/“What I love about what happens at the end of the season of Grey’s is everybody takes very interesting turns,” she continues, “and things happen that I don’t think anybody was expecting to happen for our characters.” A clue about Mer’s looming crisis may come in this week’s all-new episode. “We see Meredith do some things concerning the Alzheimer’s clinical trial that just aren’t good — or even legal — but she feels are right,” previews Rhimes. “And once that happens, the consequences for her start to emerge, and it’s about how long she can keep them at bay.” Rhimes also confirms that the competition for Chief Resident will climax at season’s end. Settling on the ultimate victor was the subject of fierce debate in the Grey’s writers room. “We had big arguments about who should be Chief Resident,” she says, “and part of it really came down to what we wanted the story to be going forward and where all our characters needed to be at the end of the season.

Grey's Anatomy: James Tupper Returns to Kidnap Teddy!
You heard us. James Tupper (Men in Trees, Mercy) is back at Seattle Grace this week, and he's there to carry Teddy (Kim Raver) away to another country. Will she go? Or will he stay on the show for season eight? (Hint: He's ready and willing.) Here's what the hot doc told us we can look forward to from Teddy's love triangle on Grey's Anatomy: When you were first on the show, your character, Dr. Andrew Perkins, was really entangled in Seattle's recovery from the trauma of the shooting rampage. Are things a little more positive for him this time around? Well, one would hope. Teddy up and got married while I was gone, and I think I have been living this very nomadic life. [But] I made a decision: I want to settle down, so I proposed to her that we live our life in Germany at a military facility. And I am hoping that she will agree to it, but of course there is always controversy at Seattle Grace... How would you characterize Andrew and Teddy's feelings for each other? I feel like it's the seed of something that could grow into a really giant forest. We're beginning to have deeper feelings. I have made the decision that I want to settle down with her, which I have never done before. You mentioned a military base—are the armed services something they share an interest in? I think the main thing they have in common is their fear of commitment. How can your character date her while she is legally married? Well, as you know, she only got married to him because he needed medical coverage so I guess it's a marriage of convenience of sorts, but she has not made a commitment. I think Scott Foley's character wants a commitment from her [as does Andrew], so it's decision time at Seattle Grace. Do you think it's going to work out for Teddy and Andrew? Well, listen, I would like you to do one of those online polls like, 'Who would you date?' I want you to do it and then I am going to show them because I think we're right for each other. I mean he has been on the show the whole season but I still think...Vote for me is what I am telling the fans. How does Grey's compare to your previous TV experiences, and what was it like coming on to such a long-running show? I don't know that I have enjoyed a cast so much. There is this feeling when you're there that they have all come up out of a theater background or a feeling of, 'Let's work this,' and any time you get that on a set, the best idea wins, the best way to do the scene wins. When people are supporting each other and trying to get the most creative energy, it just creates a much better project and there is a feeling of success there. I remember when we sat down for the reading, and they announced that this was episode 148...to get to that level is a milestone, I felt honored to just be a witness to it. And Eric Dane came up to me on the first day, 'Hey welcome, James! I saw you on Men in Trees, you're great,' and everyone has that open feeling instead of being competitive and weird and worrying about their own place. They're all very supportive and clued me in on what it's like on set; they have my back. I invited Eric Dane and his wife over and we're going to have a swimming party at the house. Have you talked to the writers about whether your character might stick around long-term? We have not discussed anything. Would you be interested in an extended run on the show? I love the show, I really enjoy the show and I love the cast. I think it's just a wonderful show and they're doing great work. There still maintaining a very huge veiwership. I told you, I have done a lot of projects and as often as I run into someone who recognizes me from something else, I run into someone who is like 'You're on Grey's Anatomy' and I have only been on for seven episodes. It's kind of amazing. I love it there. Sandra Oh and I, we were both in Montreal in drama school and we knew all of these people in common. Is there one particular scene or story turn that you're most exited for in the upcoming episodes? The most compelling for me is when Kim Raver is going to choose my character to be with. [Laughs.] James Tupper can be seen next in the major motion picture Mr. Popper's Penguins (premiering June 17); he's currently in Shreveport, La., shooting Playing the Field with Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dennis Quaid and Jessica Biel. www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b239013_greys_anatomy_james_tupper_returns.html?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-kristin&utm_source=eonline&utm_medium=twitterfeed&utm_campaign=twitterfeed_kristin&dlvrit=51396

If you wanna appease me, compliment my brain!"

Mickey: Calzona wedding deets, please! Stacy McKee, the writer of Thursday's ep of Grey's Anatomy tells us, "[Jessica Capshaw's Arizona] has a really good speech and it talks about her family, in sort of an unexpected way…It's a really nice moment." As for the other, most important speeches made on any wedding day (the vows!), McKee tells us, "I wrote their vows. They are special TV 'I love you' vows but I did use fairly traditional Catholic vows as a template, because that's Callie's (Sara Ramirez) background. And it was important to Callie to have a lot of tradition in her wedding…there are white dresses and lots of flowers. No white leisure suits here. It's full-on wedding." Question: Do you know anything about the Grey’s Anatomy‘s finale or do you still have no idea? —Sami Ausiello: Cristina and Owen are going to find themselves at a crossroads when Cristina receives “some disturbing news” in the May 19 season-ender, teases series creator Shonda Rhimes. “And how she and Owen handle that news will speak volumes about the future of their relationship.” BTW, I didn’t really love the tone of your question Sami. 'Grey's Anatomy' Spoilers: Mark Fights Avery For Lexie When it comes to relationships on Grey's Anatomy, things can get complicated. The amount of bed hopping that takes place on the ABC drama is enough to make anyone's head spin. This season, Lexie, played by Chyler Leigh, was with Mark Sloan, played by Eric Dane. They broke up, and then found their way back together. Then they broke up again, and now she is dating Jackson Avery, played by Jesse Williams. Mark was not too happy when he finally figured out the pair were an item. However, it looks like he hasn't given up yet, and things might heat up before the end of the season in this love triangle. According to The Hollywood Life, Mark might actually fight Avery for Lexie, and Jesse Williams is actually encouraging the story line. He said the following in an exclusive interview: "I kind of hope [Mark gets in the way], I think that's an interesting story. I think their relationship is a very interesting one. I can totally separate myself from that and I like watching it. I like Jackson and Lexie together as well so I don't see why [Mark] wouldn't get in the way in some form. It could just be with her. [But also] two guys working in the same place everyday ... why wouldn't they deal with it? What I can say is that Jackson and Mark have a face to face." When will this confrontation happen? Jesse Williams did not give any clue about that, but with the season just about ready to wrap up, this face to face better happen soon. Mark wants Lexie back, but were they actually good for each other? It is hard to say if Avery is the right man for her, but for right now they look happy. As fans know, happy relationships are not the norm on Grey's Anatomy. However, this week's episode is about the wedding of one of the couples, Callie Torres and Arizona. Fans will have to wait and see how those two work in the time to come. What do you think? Do you want to see Mark and Avery battle it out? Who should Lexie be with? entertainment.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979289594

Grey's Anatomy Shocker: The Real Story Behind The Big Der/Mer Twist Michael Ausiello Michael Ausiello Editor in Chief [Warning: If you have yet to watch this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, run — don’t walk — to the nearest emergency exit. Everyone else, onward and downward….] In what will likely be viewed as a setback for the Post-It Note wedding movement, Grey’s Anatomy formally married off Derek and Meredith in Thursday night’s wedding-themed hour. The no-frills city hall service comes two years after the couple’s symbolic sticky-pad nuptials set off a mini backlash among the show’s traditional-minded fans. Throughout the firestorm, series creator Shonda Rhimes maintained her position that the unorthodox service — while not legally binding — was a real wedding in the eyes of Der/Mer. But there’s nothing like the pull of parenthood (not to mention the rigid rules of adoption) to change one’s perspective. In the following Q&A, Rhimes talks about the decision to officially tie the duo’s knot and why it doesn’t represent an about-face on her part. TVLINE | You caught some flack from fans about the Der-Mer Post-It Note wedding. Any concern that this will look like you caved into their demands? No. I don’t think anybody who’s looking at this wedding will think that I caved into anyone’s demands. This doesn’t really fit anybody’s definition of the usual way a television wedding goes…. This was on their little checklist of things that will make things easier to adopt from another country. Derek and Meredith have considered themselves married for a very long time. This is a piece of paper that’s necessary. I don’t think it means much to them. TVLINE | Plus, it’s not like you put Mer in a big poofy dress which, as I recall, is the statement you were really making with the Post-It Note thing. If I had seen Meredith Grey in a big white dress, parading around, my head would’ve exploded. There’s just no way for that to work. It’s not who her character is. It’s what I love about the character – that’s not who she is. I love a big white poofy dress, I have to say. And I loved putting Callie and Arizona in big white poofy dresses. But it’s just not the character of Meredith Grey. She’s a little unromantic in that sense. She doesn’t need any of that to have great love and to be in this relationship. TVLINE | The juxtaposition of the two drastically different weddings in the episode was a nice touch. I thought it was really beautiful to have Callie and Arizona getting married in a non-legal, unofficial ceremony run by Bailey that takes place in the forest. And at the same time, Meredith and Derek are doing what constitutes a legal marriage in this country in front of a judge with a stamp and their drivers licenses and no rings, and they’re not dressed up. And they’re both equally romantic. TVLINE | Is it safe to say the adoption process won’t be a simple one for Derek and Meredith? The adoption journey doesn’t end this season. Just because someone decides they want to adopt a baby doesn’t mean they just then suddenly and magically adopt that baby. It doesn’t work that way. As an adoptive mother myself, I didn’t want to portray it as a super-easy process that magically fixes itself. www.tvline.com/2011/05/greys-anatomy-meredith-derek-twist/

PLEASE! Need some Grey’s scoop ASAP! I haven’t watched in two years, and recently started tuning in again because I heard (especially from my people at EW) that the show was good again. Oh, how you were correct!! But now I need your wisdom — especially about Avery (Jesse Williams). Wow. Just. Wow. — Rebecca
Welcome back, Rebecca. And yes, “wow,” indeed. And I predict you’ll be saying the same thing after this year’s Grey’s finale, when, according to Jesse Williams, who opened up to EW at the L.A. premiere of Thor, little Grey, Lexi, will have a pair of (extremely attractive) choices in front of her. “The last few episodes are really the rest for how [Lexi and Avery] will shake out. Will it be Jackson and Lexi? Or Mark and Lexi? Or nobody and Lexi? She might just go off on her own and be single again. It’s judgment day, so to speak. Jackson will realize whether this relationship was worth his time and care. As it stands now, they’re on thin ice. Even if she chooses him, I’m not sure he has all the tools he needs to make it work.” Personally — just putting this out there — I’m not opposed to sloppy seconds. So…

from print edition of Entertainment Weekly:
Major Couple to Split in Grey’s Finale?
Grey’s Anatomy finales are famous for their bloodshed, but by the sound of things, the major casualty this year could be Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) relationship. “Cristina and Owen come to one of those moments where they ask themselves, ‘Is there a way back?” McKidd reveals about the May 19 season ender. “I think initially fans are going to be sad [after the finale] because things are pretty complicated…but they will be excited by the prospect of the makeups that can be made and the cool drama that happens.”
