Airing opposite repeats on the competition, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" logged one of its best scores in a while Thursday, teaming with "Wipeout" to lift the net to victory in key demo categories.
According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, ABC got the night off to a winning start with the second week of its winter edition of "Wipeout" (3.6/11 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall), which was down slightly from its premiere but dominated in all demo categories and also won in total viewers. At 9, "Grey's Anatomy" (4.4/12 in 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall) led in all key categories over repeats on the other major networks, earning its best numbers since October. It was followed by a special repeat of the previous night's series premiere of drama "Off the Map" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall), filling in for "Private Practice."
CBS, second in both 18-49 and 25-54 and the night's leader in total viewers, posted its best numbers in the opening hour with a repeat of "The Big Bang Theory" (3.0/9 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall) followed by an original episode of "Bleep My Dad Says" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall); the latter perhaps boosted its renewal chances by holding onto nearly all of its lead-in and matching its week-ago delivery when it followed a "Big Bang" original. The net finished off the night with repeats of crime dramas "CSI" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) and "The Mentalist" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall.
At Fox, "Million Dollar Money Drop" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) was up week to week and drew its largest overall audience to date, placing third in the 8 o'clock hour. It was followed by a repeat of "Bones" in its new 9 p.m. time period (1.3/3 in 18-39, 4.4 million viewers overall).
NBC aired another night of repeats, going with one-hour blocks of "Community" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall at 8 p.m. and 1.2/3 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall at 8:30 p.m.), "The Office" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall at 9 p.m. and 1.7/5 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall at 9:30 p.m.) and "30 Rock" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall). Original episodes, including the series premiere of "Perfect Couples" and the season premiere of "Parks and Recreation" as part of the net's new six-comedy Thursday, will return next week.
Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 3.3/9; CBS, 2.3/6; Fox, 1.5/4; Univision, 1.4/4; NBC, 1.3/4; CW, 0.6/2.
