Last week I finally went to Cinecittà Studios! ...walking through the set of Gangs Of New York, you can already see Rome in the background!! Once inside the set of Rome, there was a strange music playing (the kind of melody they use in movies during a suspense scene) I don’t know whether it came from another set nearby or if it was meant to be in Rome, but certainly gave a sense of solemnity to it all! The set IS beautiful, it’s a pity it is possible to visit just the ‘main square’, specially since the tour guide said the set extends for 4 hectares!! Thanks for the photos you guys posted, they look great!! Looking at them I actually realized that those statues bending down, holding a wide bowl on their head, were no longer there I was trying to upload some of my own photos but I can't figure out how to Lastly, if anyone here is planning on going to Rome and visit Cinecittà Studios, I just want to inform you that during the month of August, the metro (line A – the one with Cinecittà stop) will be close in some sections due to works …but there will be substitutive buses!

Thank you once again for uploading them, Leanne. I’ll try to explain them… The first ones are the temples and columns – is what you see as you step inside Rome! Then there is the only Egyptian part of the set (at least the only one of what you can visit!). Fallowing, the photos of what looked to me like the outside of the houses. Certainly, the one that needs an explanation is the third of them…so, while I was walking around the set I noticed that the door of one of the houses was ajar, but it wasn’t possible to open it. Only my hand - holding the camera! - could fit in. I just had to take a picture to see what was hiding behind!! Next is the sign of Thermal Baths. I was fascinated by all of the writings on the walls, I’m sure they don’t have a real meaning, but it made me realize how much attention was given to all of the little details. Also, some pictures of the set by night, it is a different atmosphere from daytime and the play of lights make the colours show up more in the dark. The statue is huge, although it may not seem from the picture. It is located inside one of the temples…it’s also a bit blurred (sorry about that!) The two busts (inside Palazzo Presidenziale) are in a room dedicated to props; in the same room are also a stool and a board game - but I didn’t realize they were from Rome, so I didn’t take a picture of them!
