But why do you think she told Meredith about Owen´s cheating, when in 818 Meredith told Owen Cristina didn´t want her to know because she was trying to forgive him. Although it could be that by that time when she told Meredith she had already forgiven him in her heart and wanted only Meredith´s support which she didn´t give her. Now please take what you need and leave the rest from these thoughts... I think it's partly that Cris was far enough along in her own processing by 21 yet still struggling with how to step into her marriage given the muddle she and Owen had made of things. Cris was hurting, needing to let out that pain and process some of it out loud, hoping for support which Meredith couldn't give her, thereby setting up what I think will be a S.9 conflict for Cristina and Mer...Cris wanting her marriage, stepping back into it and Mer not being able to support that, even as it gets Cristina home as Mer would want. I also think it was partly meant to show us that even on the precipice of boards finally being there all Cris could think of the night before was Owen and their marriage. If Cris was really all about surgery she wouldn't have had to intone 'mind over matter' repeatedly to coax herself into the boards mindset, she would have just run with it and sailed through boards. Sure she passed yet she was emotionally strung out, reactive the whole time because her mind wasn't fully present, no matter how much she tried to focus herself. Cristina processed a lot of her feelings before she ever said anything to Mer. To me it's crucial that after 17 when Owen owned up to his indiscretion, Cris didn't do any of the knee-jerk behavior one would have expected in that situation. She didn't flee to Mer's, she didn't disappear into the OR,she didn't call Owen a pig and say she deserved better. Instead, she went inward and really tried to face both her own feelings and how to get to a place of talking it through with Owen, as they did in 19. And it's also crucial to me that Owen stepped back, as much as he was pushing for them to talk in 18, he wanted to give her the space to process her own feelings after everything was out there on the table in 19. As painful as that episode was to watch, they had to go through that conversation to find out if they could make it to the other side. And I do think we see them beginning to do so on into the sf and as we will see them doing in S.9. Both know they've hurt each other, made mistakes, want to do better, want each other...now it's just how to get there together. Cristina said it in that scene w/Mer in 21...if she had done what Owen did she wouldn't want him to leave her, she would want him to forgive her. Cris was in pain, hurting, missing Owen even amidst that pain...she was in the mode of starting to walk through that pain to the other side of it and yet needing support. Mer couldn't give her that support so she shut down, went to boards, and tried to muddle through. Yet as we saw into 23, she couldn't muddle away her love for Owen.

I understand one being a little messed up after being in a plane crash. thats pretty dramatic on someone...But I Want To Be Moving Forward Shonda...Don't Make Us Wait Til Season 10...... Kevin Ofcourse makes me feel like they will be.. Owen Fighting though..I want Cristina fighting too... But I'll give her some time, like the first 2 episodes ((Shonda!)) then i want to start seeing progress from both parties. I assume KMK was talking about the first few episodes.... ?

So, seems to be a re-do of post shooting PTDS season 7 for Cristina but plane crash version and Owen feeling helpless regarding the whole situation, again.
In season 7, everyone were there to help Cristina and support her with her PTSD. Now, seems that everyone has to deal with their own problem and pain and will not be available for her anymore. As for, we have to re check all the misteps she had been prevented from doing by Owen, Derek and friends in season 7 during her PTSD crisis.
Have the feeling that she is going to "go all wild" for at least half of the season. And there is a French sentence that can apply here, "elle va se casser la gueule en toute beauté", the translation will be approximately, she is going to bite the dust.
Dark, dark, time again for CO.
...sigh...patience...sigh...
...Owen chasing after Cristina...again...sigh...sigh...it is as he is the one to be blame for all That went wrong in this marriage and Cristina is the poor innocent victim ?! Seriously ?!...sigh...sigh...

I think this spoiler shouldn't send us down the dark dark path for CO just yet.
The sides for 9.2 read like the flashback to post-crash that we already know that episode to be. In one of the sides a patient is sedated and in restraints because when doctors attempt to examine this patient the patient responds violently. Another doctor simply removes the restraints even as the original doctor cautions him not to...
Perhaps this is what Kevin alludes to in his comment about her being 'deranged, crazy' etc. post-crash. (And yes, I do think he's only referring to the beginning of the season, first couple of episodes..heck, they probably just started filming 9.5 this week.) And truly, who wouldn't lose their bananas after being in a plane crash? And truly, would Owen be the man he is if he didn't try to tend her, take care of her, support her in that place? She did the exact same thing for him in S.5 and S.6.
And I don't for one second think this dooms them to a season of darkness, Owen chasing after a wounded Cristina. I think that will be more an early facet of Cris' attempts to avoid feeling what she's feeling post-crash until she has to feel it and Owen will be the only one who can reach her because he is her person...and once she has healed a bit she will be able to tell him that and their healing as a couple will begin. Both Cristina and Owen made mistakes, hurt each other, and neither is the victim here. Both will have to do the work and both will IMO.

Both Cristina and Owen made mistakes, hurt each other, and neither is the victim here. Both will have to do the work and both will IMO. ITA, Ella. This spoiler is consistent with what Kevin said in the chat he participated in back in July, I think, when as I recall he said that he was hopeful for them as we all were, but that the hope wouldn't be fulfilled in the first two episodes. He also said that there would be tears in those episodes, but some of them would be happy tears. Shonda likes giving Sandra (and Kevin) heavily dramatic scenes because they do them so well. The reaction to a plane crash is too much of an opportunity for her to pass up, so I'm not surprised that Cristina will act out, or that Owen will react by trying to "win her back." He'll want to be there for her, to get her to accept his help and support. It's easy, at this stage, when we have so little information, to take a spoiler that applies only to the first couple of episodes and assume that it describes the entire arc of the season. I remember when there were spoilers before the beginning of Season 6 about Dr Wyatt telling Owen and Cristina they couldn't start having sex and some of us were concerned that we wouldn't see Owen and Cristina together for most of the season. In fact, the "no sex" rule lasted only until the end of the season premiere, and all that concern about a long physical separation for them turned out to be misplaced. So I'm with Ella here. I'm still feeling hopeful that we'll see them making progress, and that we won't have to wait till the end of Season 9 for it to happen.

For me personally, one more interview from Shonda where she constantly reminds us that it will be a long and difficult journey or that we will see fun and sexy Mer/Der for whom I think the Season of Romance truly applies to, I am really out and done with the show. I am seriously considering just watching KMK´s directed episode 904 and maybe if he shoots one more in the second half of the season.
In my opinion, she is playing with us in the same way as she played with Slexie fans to whom she promised and promised they will get back together for so long until we know what happened. JMHO Rhimes only started to push the Slexie storyline forward when she knew Chyler wanted to leave.
By the way, have you noticed how quiet Shonda is on the special? It is Betsy Beers who does most of the talking about Kevin and Owen! I was rather surprised by this fact!

mmm so
With Mark out of the picture, Derek will be in the market for a new BFF. Who will fill that void? "Derek and Callie become very good friends,"
Its Callie and Derek was hoping for a Bromance perhaps with Owen....

I just want to stop by and say that while I may find Shonda's latest comments regarding Cristina and Owen frustrating, they are exactly the same words she's used to describe them since she started talking about S.9. Her message hasn't changed.
And what she says is true, a marriage of two intricate people like Owen and Cristina that has sustained the pain and hurts their marriage has - all self-inflicted by them both - wouldn't be an easy or quick fix.
If it was portrayed that way, while we may enjoy watching it for a little while it would get old to us fast and seem a lot like first 1/2 of S.8 for CO when they were trying to avoid that the emotional territory of their relationship was changing, when they resisted that truth with everything they had.
And yet - as much as going to Mayo may seem like the safe decision - a way to be outside the pain of how to heal her marriage and her walking wounded friends and colleagues' pain post-crash - there will be little time that they can keep Cristina isolated in that world of guest-stars and anvils. Sandra Oh is a powerful actress, no doubt, yet Cristina is a central character on the show and will not be as powerful in the weeds of MN (no matter how much we'd welcome her here, btw.)
Likewise, Owen will have a multi-faceted role as Chief of surgery whose job it is to represent the hospital, keep it staffed, assist with refocusing the staff after the loss of one resident during the crash, likely losing an attending in 9.1 w/ ED's imminent exit, and usher in a new class of interns, etc. Yet as Kevin himself has said, he views his character's role to be that of being Cristina Yang's guy. The absence of his relationship with Cristina will isolate him as well, even amidst all that will be happening at the hospital, and that can't be sustained for very long either.
We will see both of them being strong surgeons, making complex professional decisions and also slowly healing emotionally, both able to face the absence of the other, their isolation, which will make them better able to feel the love between them, to remember it, to treasure it, to be ready to rebuild it and themselves in the process.
P.S. Didn't Kevin say something in July's chat about how Owen might help guide Alex? And the only deleted Owen scene I saw that might fit the above discussion was the one from 21 when he told the patient's mother her son had a long path of healing in front of him. Is that what you mean?

Especially in light of those deleted scenes that were like anvils for the fact that O was going to be alone and need people. Could you explain that? I'm confused by your comment. Which deleted scenes are you referring to? Both deleted scenes form the DVD that I saw on youtube featuring Owen. In one Richard is yelling at Hunt for not making an offer to Alex, and he says "you're losing everyone". In the second one, he is comforting the mother whose kid nearly killed himself in his car by texting. He tells her (I'm paraphrasing) that the kid made a mistake that he will be paying for for a long time, that he will always regret it, and that he will need people more than ever. Seeing how the season ended, and the spoilers we have about Cristina at Mayo, it seems clear to me that these were anvils for Hunt's situation without her. I had hopes that we would see Owen get closer to some other people, maybe Derek, but now that we have a Derek-Callie friendship blooming, for however long that is supposed to last, I wonder what Owen's story is going to be. He isn't close to anyone. Mer hates him, Teddy (thank god) is gone. If they ignore it, and just have him chasing Cristina, well, they are missing an opportunity to broaden his character. Especially if they are going to make us wait most of the season for a true reconciliation. I hope that they handle it well. Many people on twitter seem to be convinced that they will ignore Cristina's part in the destruction of the relationship and focus only on the cheating. I hope that isn't so. Certainly fanfic has handled it better than that. From their keyboards to SR's ears, I suppose. So I'm rambling, sorry but that is the basis for my comment.

Sorry I answered hopew before I saw your post. Yes, I see that scene as an anvil for Owen's situation, as I explained in my previous post.

By making Derek befriend Callie they took two friends from Owen away. There is still Bailey /who will be wrapped up in her wedding and husband/, Richard /who will probably mentor Alex more and there is Mrs Avery to distract him/, Meredith /who will get closer to Derek/.
Owen is a loner.

Yeah, and look how well that has turned out for him. People need other people to get through things. An entire season of him chasing Cristina should not be the way that they go with this. JMHO

Yeah, and look how well that has turned out for him. People need other people to get through things. An entire season of him chasing Cristina should not be the way that they go with this. JMHO Well, we're unlikely to see Owen convert from being a loner to being gregarious as that seems to be an integral part of his personality. He's a humble leader and pulls teams together in the workplace yet still holds himself separate from people personally. I like that he doesn't step into immediate banter with people, that he takes his time warming up to people. It seems more natural to me. I'm just curious though, what have we heard so far that provides the idea that Owen will spend a season chasing Cristina? I've seen several people express their belief that's how it will be, yet I'm really not getting that what from what we've been told so far. While I understand the concern we all have for how Owen and Cristina will get back on the same path together, I don't think we can assume that Cristina's PTSD being back as she seems to be undone by the crash and a few words from Kevin about how Owen will be helping Cristina through things as the season opens indicates a season's worth of woe for Owen or victimhood for Cristina. And I think since Callie and Derek have never really been close before this will occur because they will now be finding themselves in the same boat, wanting to help Mark get better and finding a friendship in that commonality. I think it's likely they will also continue to be friendly with Owen and have scenes with him so I don't think he'll be on his own, though I think he may prefer to be on his own. He'll be thinking through some things too as the season opens and he'll need time to do that IMO.

Owen as chief has never been one of my favorite ideas. The "drama" of budgets and staffing issues just bore me. I much preferred him as a creative and challenging teacher, I'd like to see more of that. Maybe when they bring April back there can be some interesting stuff there. She was a mess, and he was training her for trauma, I liked that dynamic.

Perhaps - I also think he may be a teacher/mentor of sorts for Alex even as he is prepared to step into peds more deeply this season. I'm wondering if Alex will experience a bit of guilt associated w/not being the one on that plane instead of AZ. Or if it will center on him maybe going to John Hopkins, then deciding to stay in Seattle...trying to sort himself out,be the man he wants to be as they've said he will this season, and Owen could certainly help him with those sorts of dilemmas. I have to say, I haven't yet truly warmed up to April. I like her as part of the group of residents, now that she and Avery seem a part of the team rather than just the MercyWesters. Yet as a trauma surgeon...I never quite bought that...she just dissolves into tears too much for me to take her seriously just yet.
