Thanks for posting this one so quickly! Not sure if this is spoilerific or if it matters in the promo thread, since if one is peeking around here one must surely be looking at spoilers. But since my comment sort of references tonight's episode I'll invoke spoiler tags. Strangely, I find myself loving this Derek after a season of finding him pretty blah. Not so much the guy racing his car down the highway for the thrill of taking a corner at 120 without spinning out, but this guy, willing to put stand up for Cristina professionally, this guy I like. I also like that he's sitting next to Owen at the boardroom table as they're likely discussing Cristina's tenure in the surgical residency program. I will say that Considering what Derek, Mer and Cristina have gone through together especially recently, I am glad to see him stand up for Yang. What disappointed me in the sneaks are AZ and Teddy, they were way too catty and selfish in that scene and it frankly made me kind of ill to watch them taking glee in kicking Cristina and Owen out. I love how Callie and Derek know how deep Yang's heart runs and give her mad respect. I do kind of wish Derek was a bit more "damaged". I'll continue on in the spoiler tag vein, in case anyone doesn't want the analysis spelled out for sneak peeks not posted here. I'll agree with you about the selfish/catty vibe of Arizona who just last week was talking about wanting her new environment to be more 'smiley' yet she seems to be awfully smiley about dismissing what Owen and Cristina are going through.
Nice to see Meredith set Callie straight a bit and that Callie notices that pushing Cristina and Owen out of their nest might not be the sweetest thing to be running around asking people to help them do.
Not sure I like this direction of smiley Arizona seeming attentive to Teddy turning from GI Jane into Attachment Barbie, or whatever Teddy calls herself. (The sneak peek sound cut out on my computer when I tried to view that one.) And then they rapid-fire segue into Arizona thinking so little of her friend Teddy's mopey demeanor that the best way to snap her out of it is to instruct her to go nudge her pal Owen into convincing his traumatized wife to move out of her house so that Arizona will end up more 'smiley.'
Oh, and guess I'll have to go back and find the one in which Callie gives props to Cristina since I've always liked that friendship.

Oh, and guess I'll have to go back and find the one in which Callie gives props to Cristina since I've always liked that friendship. Yeah I found that whole scene really insensitive to Cristina's ordeal, and apparently so does Callie. And the writers are trying too hard with some of the material. Giddy AZ got on my nerves, and gotta say that hearing Teddy refer to herself as "Barbie" kind of made me throw up a little especially since Cristina already called her "Desert Storm Barbie" last season, it is like a recycled line. Apparently Teddy is as confused about who/what she is as we are. I thinK I have not yet recovered enough from the horrid s6 triangle to laugh at Teddy taking joy in AZ's task for her. Didn't Teddy say she too suffered from PTSD? I would think someone who also had that disorder would be more supportive, apparently not. Oh well. That aside I think it will be another great Cristina episode, and a great Derek episode for that matter.

I just think Arizona doesn't understand Cristina and does not know what has been going on as Callie looked quite surprised when Meredith set her straight. I don't think Teddy was taking glee either her snort seemed like a shocked one at the comment than her being catty. Arizona will soon change her tune when she sees all her sorta friends taking Cristina's side and support her. Arizona is the type of character that hates to be left out.

I'm going to go with spoiler tags for my response just in case anyone hasn't seen the other sneak peeks. I hope you're right about Teddy's reaction. I'd rather see that response, especially since it might bring Arizona to the point of popping her decorating-obsessed bubble and noticing the people around her.

I think people also need to accept that no matter what Teddy says she does not like Cristina, she can't. No matter how nice she is or supportive she is towards her, she deep down does not like her. Why? because Cristina has everything she wants. She does however respects Cristina and thats the difference. Addison deep down doesn't like Meredith for the same reasons but she does respect her so I'm not shocked at little moments of catty from her she is only human.

Hi guys, if your discussion pertains directly to what you see in the sneaks then it can stay here untagged but if it starts to go beyond that or get speculative etc then the spoiler discussion thread is the place to go.

I guess I'm just disappointed in the direction that Arizona's personality is going. It took me a long time to warm up to her, now after seeing that clip I am back to square one. I have never been a Teddy fan, but Teddy and AZ together remind me of the plastics in Mean Girls. Been there done that. Its like a rehashing of when Addie and Callie became friends. I also don't see how a scene like that sneak is going to make people warm up to Teddy who is already on shaky ground with the audience. Though judging from the Derek/boardroom clip, Cristina being on Derek's service will probably be an interesting development.

It bothers me a little that they made Derek more enthusiastic about Cristina than Owen in that clip.

It bothers me a little that they made Derek more enthusiastic about Cristina than Owen in that clip. Owen isnt being very vocal because Shonda wants this opportunity to show a blossoming bond between Derek and Cristina and that can only happen if he is the one pushing for her to get back to surgery. Just my take.

Just my take. Putting aside the fact that this is a short clip without much context, also coming into play is that Owen is seeing Cristina's vulnerability playing itself out at home. In that boardroom scene Owen isn't just a department head or an attending physician, he's Cristina's husband. As such, he is keenly aware of how fragile she is right now. Cristina and Derek have always had a bit of an adversarial relationship so, right now, he can be the one to push her and to push her buttons in a way that I wouldn't want Owen to do. Derek can draw out her anger and trigger her fears and she will still have the safe haven of building a life and a home with Owen as a respite from work being the most painful place on earth for her right now, IMO.

Owen also can't be her hubby at work per se, but he can intervene when necessary. One thing I've always liked about Owen is that he consistently lets Cristina deal with her own professional battles, and knows when to step back and when to teach. Since Derek and Meredith, to some extent Callie, know Cristina the best professionally AND personally, its natural for them to step up to the plate for her in the professional sense. I think there is still a lot Owen doesn't get about Cristina professionally, I mean he is definately trying but he thought getting her back into surgery immediately would fix her, because that worked in the past, but this is a different problem and since she now fears the OR, she needs something else. Cristina has talked about how she was trying to keep her dad's chest closed waiting for help and that is what inspired her to be a heart surgeon, so the fact that she did the same for Derek and was able to save him, is going to be an interesting angle to explore. We are over due some Cristina and Derek development anyway so I like that clip a lot.

Ugh why are they being so slow with sneak peeks? Last week they were out almost as soon as the episode aired.
