Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research
Named after our bright yellow shirts, the Banana Army is about having fun whilst doing something extremely positive to help people with blood cancers. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the events or an experienced athlete – everyone is welcome & we’ll look after you making sure you have a great time! Since we began 50 years ago, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has been the leader in the field of blood cancer research and is passionately committed to saving lives.
Great North Run 2010 on BBC Tyne
Runners starting Great North Run 2008
The race starts on the central motorway in Newcastle
The world's biggest half marathon, the Great North Run, will be held for the 30th time on Sunday 19 September 2010.
More than 100,000 people tried to gain a place for the famous race between Newcastle and South Shields, although only 54,000 will be able to take part.
As usual, BBC Tyne will have a whole host of content in the run up to the big day and photos from the race to give you a flavour of the event.
Plus we're looking for runners' stories to be part of our anniversary coverage.
30 years, 30 stories
We want to hear your memories of each of the races held since 1981 for a special "30 years, 30 stories" series.
Perhaps you took part for an unusual reason, or in an unusual costume, or maybe not everything on the day went quite to plan!
Man dressed up as Mr Happy
A happy runner at the end of Great North Run 2009

Inspiration
Over the Great North Run weekend we'll have a team out and about taking dozens of photos.
So bookmark this page if you're running and come back and check if you've been snapped.
