Ms. Debbie Allen directed my episode. Ms. Debbie Allen. I have been fortunate to work with a lot of incredibly talented people in my life, and some quite famous, but lord in heaven... Ms. Debbie Allen! I was interested in show business at a young age. Theatre mostly -- enough that I spell it theatre instead of theater, which only means I was pretentious as a 13 year old. In any event, I saw the movie "Fame" when I was impressionable, and Ms. Debbie Allen's infamous line is forever emblazoned in my mind. So we're trying to have a production meeting and she's asking me a question, and I'm kind of zoned out cause here's what's running in my head: "You want fame? Well fame costs. And right here's where you start paying. In sweat." Over and over and over again. So not only am I star-struck, but I'm acting like a moron, cause I can't answer a simple question, cause I didn't really hear it, all I heard was... you get the idea. That, and I have no idea what to call her. I can't call her Debbie. That's too disrespectful. To call her Ms. Debbie Allen seems a bit much, even though every time I think of her, that's what I think -- never Debbie -- never Ms. Allen. Ms. Debbie Allen. So I end up not calling her anything. "Hey! Hi!" That kind of thing. So it ends up sounding like I've forgotten her name. Add to that the fact that what we're talking about is... Kyle's bump. Poor little Kyle, not only is his mom drifting away, her brain riddled with Alzheimer's, he has a bump on his neck. There was much debate about Kyle's bump. If the bump is too big, the parents look not just distracted, but horribly irresponsible -- not what we're going for. If the bump is too small, how will Meredith see it? She is, after all, a little compromised in the vision department. If it's too big, how will we NOT see it in the first scene, where we don't want to see it? Should he wear a jacket? A scarf? Maybe he goes to private school and wears a dorky uniform, with a coat and tie, and in the first scene, tie's on, and in the second scene, he LOOSENS the tie, revealing the medium sized bump. But what if the dorky uniform is too dorky? The poor kid has to sing "I Walk the Line" to his mother, we should preserve whatever cool he's got left. We had easily five separate conversations about the bump. Meetings. About the bump. And here I am thinking "I'm WASTING Ms. Debbie Allen's time, her talent, I shouldn't be giving her a kid with a bump, I should change the character to a child who dances. A dance prodigy! And he distracts his mother from her creeping dementia by DANCING! A subtle combination of ballet and modern dance and krump!" (Krump -- a word I know because I watch "So You Think You Can Dance" -- a show on which Ms. Debbie Allen is a guest judge!) I've reworked the character in my head -- in the middle of the production meeting. It is WAY too late to change the character to a dance prodigy. The role has been cast, with an adorable young man who can SING. Not dance. He was hired for his ability to sing Johnny Cash to his mother. Not for his krumping. But there I am, imagining the radical number Ms. Debbie Allen will choreograph for my episode, and I've missed yet ANOTHER question she's asking me. I'm giving her the blank silence again. Cause I have no idea what she said. AGAIN. She's trying to hard to move the conversation off the bump. And she can't. Because she can't get me to answer the simplest question. I assume it was simple. I have no idea. I didn't hear it. So now, Ms. Debbie Allen thinks I have Asperger's. And we're still on the bump. I can't tell you anything about the episode. I can't remember anything about the episode. All I know is Ms. Debbie Allen directed it. www.greyswriters.com

Wowza! If you told us that Meredith losing her vision would be the least dramatic part of this episode of Grey's Anatomy we would have sent you to the psych ward. Blindness aside, we also got baby-mama drama, a love triangle heating up and a brand new odd couple. What went down on tonight's Grey's Anatomy? Check it out: What We Learned Cut the Line: It's no secret that Dr. Pretty Eyes has been harboring a deep crush on Little Grey. While Lexie gives Mark longing looks, Dr. Avery watches from the shadows and plots an evil plan to steal her. Okay, that's not exactly how it happened but he did spend the entire episode telling Lexie that she deserves better than to be fourth wheel on the baby train, there's more than one soulmate in the sea, blah blah blah. He's just trying to get in your pants, Lexie! But we can't blame her for being hypnotized by those ridiculous eyes and letting him cut the line of potential soulmates. Oh shiz! Hot steamy shower of the night goes to Jackson and Lexie. The Grey's Anatomy love polygon gets ever more convoluted—and we love it. 18 to Life: You know who knows about complicated baby-raising? Nancy Travis, the baby mama from the classic '80s comedy Three Men and a Baby. But while Travis plays a mother with Alzheimer's in the one room, the baby circus that is Mark, Callie and Arizona are setting up camp in the other room, arguing between the three of them about an amniocentesis. Gone are the happy pink clouds of baby fluffiness now that the reality of their three-way relationship work is setting in. Buckle your seatbelts, we'd bet this is the start of a bumpy Calzona ride. And it's not one of those nice fancy smooth modern roller coasters, but a scary carnie-operated Tilt-O-Whirl. Paging Dr. Evil: We haven't had the best impression of that other peds doc, Dr. Stark (Peter MacNicol). And we were all ready with our torches and indignation when he said to call Child Protective Services on the sweetest little Johnny Cash-singing boy with an Alzheimer's mom. However, in a shocking turn--one that has us seriously questioning our attraction to authority figures--Stark asked out April…on a date. We know it's odd, but somehow it works. Maybe April won't be holding onto her V-card forever. OK, wait, now we have to scrub our brains out. Blind Love: So those side effects warnings are real, who knew? Meredith loses her vision in an alarming rate throughout this episode, all because of that future MerDer baby. While Meredith sacrifices her eyesight for a future perfect-haired baby, Cristina refuses to think about babies. Apparently when people get married they usually have a chance to talk about this sort of thing. However, Cristina was all traumatized and looking to get hitched, so it seems like Hunt and Cristina never had the big bad baby talk. What's the opposite of a shotgun wedding? Eating Crow: The only person who can talk sense into Chief Webber, besides his tough wife, is Dr. Bailey. Dr. Bailey, is awesome and smart and suspects the chief's wife is a secret day drinker. We think that is the most hilarious explanation of her falling. Sadly all the pieces are finally falling into place. Now we see why this Alzheimer's clinical trial was invented, to save the Chief's wife. We're going to speculate that before the end of the season the Chief will have to make a Denny-like decision to cut the proverbial LVAD wire. No, no he won't have to kill Adele but maybe get her into the trial and force Derek to give her the real medicine. What's To Come Baby Frustration: In case you missed it, Shonda Rhimes talks MerDer's baby frustration, Mark-Lexie's growing pains and Cristina's compassion in our exclusive interview. Grey's Goes Glee: The much talked about musical episode is coming on March 31, bringing with it: Callie baby dramz, Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and the favorite baby doc to call in a crisis, Addison Montgomery Forbes! Are you all for the steamy Jackson-Lexie shower sex or do you subscribe to the one soulmate-per-lifetime theory? What side effects would you suffer to get a MerDer baby? Was Three Men and a Baby your fav movie in 1987? And are you grossed out or intrigued by Stark and April? Hit the comments and let us know! www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b227934_greys_anatomy_redux_will_baby-making.html

'Grey's Anatomy' 'Not Responsible' recap: Meredith's eyesight and Adele's memory Tonight’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was “Not Responsible,” which aired at 9PM on ABC 7 in Queens. Meredith suffers side effects from the fertility drugs, while Adele shows up as a patient again, and Teddy’s patient is putting himself at risk. Derek tries to talk to Meredith about their house, but the fertility drugs are affecting her eyesight and she can’t see the blueprints. Mark is against Callie having an amnio. Meredith talks to Allison, a trial patient, whose son, Kyle, has more of the answers. Teddy, Jackson, and Lexie stop by Ricky’s room and meet Julia. He’s getting new lungs. Webber tells Owen he’s busy and he should be able to handle a VIP patient alone—but it’s Adele. Meredith notices a bump on Kyle’s neck. Adele fell in the supermarket and blames her shoes. Julia starts coughing, and Lexie realizes she also has cystic fibrosis. Lexie and Jackson tell them they can’t date because they can infect each other, but they argue that they can’t date anyone else. Meredith asks April to look at Kyle and squints at watch. Webber asks Bailey to give Cristina her patients and look over Adele instead. Meredith asks Alex to check her eyes, and he asks if she can see enough to operate. She can when she squints. Lexie overhears Mark, Arizona, and Callie arguing about the amnio. Jackson watches Lexie. Alex asks Lucy about Meredith’s problem, and she thinks he’s making up an excuse to talk to her. Stark finds Meredith, April, and Arizona looking at Kyle’s scan—it’s a cystic hygroma—and wants them to call protective services because it should’ve been caught sooner. Arizona and April try to talk to Stark, but he argues they only step in if the child is being harmed. Adele tells Bailey she tripped at the pharmacy, but she had said the supermarket earlier. She knows Webber wanted her checked for inner ear problems. Bailey wants to test her for substance abuse. Over lunch, Arizona and Mark are still arguing about the amnio, but Callie says she gets to decide. Mark argues that he’s the father. Teddy tells Ricky and Julia that he’s more likely to get an infection after the transplant. Julia argues that they deserve to be happy, but Teddy tells them that by staying together, they could destroy the new lungs in months—and others could use those lungs. She tells them to end the relationship, or Ricky doesn’t get the lungs. Meredith and April tell them about Kyle’s cyst and the social worker. His father knows it’s about Kyle and they all get defensive. As his parents argue, Kyle begins singing and Allison hugs him. Teddy wants an answer rom Ricky and Julia, and he says it’s over. She tells them to say goodbye. Bailey asks Meredith about Adele and she says she suggested early dementia. Cristina tells Owen she’s happy they’ll never have to deal with a baby, but Owen doesn’t seem to agree. Callie wants the amnio so she knows what the situation is, and Mark says he wanted them all to consider it. Allison is receiving the drug, but Meredith can’t see to perform the surgery. Lexie thinks she may have been wrong to walk away from Mark. Owen thinks Cristina will change her mind about kids in a few years, but she’s not planning to. Teddy performs the lung transplant and says Ricky better not waste them. Lucy forces Meredith to stop the fertility drugs to make sure she doesn’t permanently damage her eyesight. Lexie finds Julia outside and tells her the lungs are in. She says being with Ricky is like a “joint suicide” and that she’ll find someone else to love. Julia says she doesn’t want Ricky to be alone. April goes to Stark about Kyle and says that she’ll examine him every two weeks when Allison comes in to see Derek. He agrees. Lexie doesn’t know how to tell Ricky Julia’s gone, and Jackson says he’d want to hear something like that from her. Bailey tells Webber something’s clearly wrong with Adele and says she would ask Derek for a consult if she were in his situation. Jackson’s waiting for Lexie when she leaves to see how she’s doing. He argues that people don’t just have one soulmate and they deserve better. He says she also deserves better, and he’s in the line waiting for her. Cristina thinks she should have veto power about a kid, but Owen wants her to consider his opinion. Stark asks April out for dinner and tells her to think about it. Callie says she was impressed by Mark, but Arizona’s not as impressed. She never planned for a life with Mark, but it’s what she has. She says Callie has it all, but it’s not her dream. April bursts into the bathroom while Lexie’s showering and tells her she said yes to dinner with Stark. Jackson’s in the shower with her. Cristina tells Meredith her eyes will clear up. Webber benches her until she’s cleared. Derek, Mark, and Owen play golf on the roof while talking about their problems. Webber joins them and pulls Derek aside to ask him to look at Adele. Tune in to ABC 7 in Queens at 9PM on Thursdays as season 7 of Grey’s Anatomy continues Examiner.com www.examiner.com/primetime-tv-in-new-york/grey-s-anatomy-not-responsible-recap-meredith-s-eyesight-and-adele-s-memory#ixzz1ExDwKg34

That writer's blog was a waste of my energy! Exactly what I was thinking! I love Debbie Allen too but it was like a fan letter rather than any insight into the characters' experience in this episode. I stopped reading the writer's blog for the same reason, also it seems like the writers and directors have no connection, like they say in the writer's blog what the characters are doing, but we see something else entirely different. Like last year when they said Owen notices a pantless Teddy, I was like uh really? I couldn't see him noticing a thing.

'Grey's Anatomy' Fan Columnist: The Long and Winding Road So I'm starting to get just a teensy bit nervous. After an amazing first half of the season, I feel like Grey's Anatomy is beginning to meander a bit. Some episodes have been strong ("Don't Deceive Me" and last week's stellar "Golden Hour" come to mind) while others have been pretty unremarkable ("Start Me Up" and "P.Y.T."). I'm OK with the journey, but it has to be worth it in the end. Here's hoping that in retrospect last night's outing, "Not Responsible" will be seen as another link in a deliberate chain of events that are leading somewhere worthwhile. With only six more episodes this season, the pacing is becoming crucial and there's no time to waste. A Tale of Three Babies Meredith and Derek really want a baby. Really, really, really want one. Which means they're probably not getting one any time soon. This week's obstacle? Meredith's fertility treatments are causing her to go blind. Yep. That's a problem. She's stopping the drugs, so now what? In contrast, Callie wasn't intending to get pregnant (ah, the ironies of life) but here she is pregnant with Mark's child while in a relationship with Arizona. They spent the episode clashing over whether or not Callie should get an amniocentesis. She's getting it. Why do I have an ominous feeling about the results? Meanwhile, Cristina made what she thought was casual remark to Owen about how awful things are for Meredith and Callie and how grateful she is that they'll never have to deal with babies. Um ... awkward. After an attempt to gloss things over, things come to a head in series of discussions. Owen wants kids. He's made no secret about it. He also knows that Cristina professes to NOT want kids. To his credit he's perfectly aware that Cristina wouldn't want children during her residency and he knows how important her career is to her. I also think he wants Cristina more than he wants a family and, if it came to that, he'd choose her and accept her choice to remain childless. For now he's simply asking to table the discussion for a few years and to be a part of the decision they make. Regardless of their eventual choice, Owen is basically ticked because he feels irrelevant in the process. I actually think this is about much more than a baby for Cristina. What's interesting is that although she may never want a child (and that's a valid choice, by the way) she's refusing to discuss it at all with Owen or even consider his position. To me this all comes back to Cristina's underlying fears of abandonment related to the death of her father, the loss of her baby, and being left by Burke at the altar. On some level Cristina thinks that if she and Owen can't come to a resolution on the baby issue that he will abandon her, too. It's almost like she expects it to happen, so she makes pre-emptive excuses: They didn't think things through, she had PTSD, he married her because she was a mess, etc. Luckily, Owen's not having it, insisting that they married because they love each other and want a life together. He's sticking and that's good, because this baby thing isn't going away any time soon. Good thing he's got his buddies, McDreamy and McSteamy, and they can hit golf balls off the roof to blow off steam while looking hot. Yum. In Other News Adele's back after another slip and fall and once again she can't keep the details of her story consistent. Fortunately, Richard had Miranda examine his wife and Bailey is strong enough to push The Chief harder than Meredith dared to last week. Her conclusion? Something is very wrong with Mrs. Webber. Her advice? Have The World's Best Neurosurgeon (a.k.a. Derek Shepherd) examine Adele. My fear? The findings aren't going to be good. Lexie spent the episode on the periphery of the Three Musketeers' (Callie, Mark, Arizona) baby drama. While patient anvils dropped from the sky like confetti at a parade, Lexie realized that although she and Mark may love each other, their relationship may never work out. It might even be unhealthy for them both. Happily for Lexipedia, Jackson cut to the front of the line of her potential suitors and ended up in her shower. Loved it! Finally, April managed to convince Dr. Stark to reverse his harsh decision to call in Protective Services in a case where the family wasn't abusive, but overwhelmed because of mom's early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Stark proceeded to ask April out. On a date. And she accepted! What? Man, I can't wait to see where this is going, but it will likely be at least a month before I get my wish. New episodes of Grey's Anatomy return sometime in March on ABC. www.buddytv.com/articles/greys-anatomy/greys-anatomy-fan-columnist-th-39503.aspx

Thursday Ratings: Idol on top again, CSI and Grey's hit lows, NBC rebounds The competition for American Idol had mixed ratings results Thursday. NBC did not suffer any more drops and two shows improved. The dramas on CBS and ABC did not hold up as well, with CSI and Grey's Anatomy hitting new lows. The revelation of the Top 24 on American Idol gave Fox another victory Thursday night. Though 7.2 is down 0.4 from last week, the show is performing above expectations since shifting timeslots. CBS took second place. The Big Bang Theory was the top non-Idol show of the night, scoring a 3.8 (+0.1). Rules of Engagement has made a somewhat bumpy transition to Thursday scoring a season-low 2.8, though that number is consistent with how that timeslot has performed this season. The dramas did not score well, with CSI hitting a new low of 2.7 (-0.2) and The Mentalist dipping to 2.8 (-0.2). ABC finished in third place. Wipeout bounced back to a 2.2 (+0.3), but the momentum did not carry through the night. Grey's Anatomy dropped to 3.3 (-0.4) with 9.1 million viewers. Private Practice scored a 2.4 (+0.1), though the audience of 6.7 million was flat week-to-week. Although NBC finished in a distant fourth, the comedy slate recovered slightly from last week's tumbles. Parks and Recreation rose to 2.4 (+0.2) while 30 Rock jumped to 2.3 (+0.3). The rest of the lineup was steady week-to-week. The CW was steady Thursday, though audience size dipped for both shows. The Vampire Diaries slipped to a 1.3 (-0.1) with 2.94 million viewers. Nikita stayed at 0.8, but the audience fell just below 2 million. www.tvlatest.com/article/2094/Thursday+Ratings%3A+Idol+on+top+again,+CSI+and+Grey's+hit+lows,+NBC+rebounds
