Shonda is reallly really upsetting me, With how she is writing Cristina and Owen...Cristina and Mer. It's so frustrating. But a scene like that bathtub scene is the reason why i keep coming back. Sandra and Kevin are so amazing. I was speechless after that.... I get Cristina is not all there. I can understand why she would want to leave..BUT i do not believe she would just leave Owen like that. I'm over Shonda and her stupid drama. It's no believable that Cris wouldn't stay _in contact w/Owen. OH did you see SR promises we'll have romantic Callie/AZ by V-day.... -_- No one can EVER tell me SR dosen;t have a favorite couple. It's Calzona. Good episode tho. I do think Jessica Capshaw is doing an amazing job with what we've seen so far. But I did feel bad for Alex, when she started blamming him. Talk about someone who gets crapped on ALL THE TIME.

AZ's reaction to Alex was realistic, she's going through the stages of grief, I think because she knows she is going to lose her leg eventually, and next to Callie and Sofia, Alex is the easiest one to lash out to because she loves him and knows how guilty he feels about it. Its that whole thing about how you always hurt the ones you love. So callie and Alex are going to be getting the brunt of AZ for a while.
I agree with those who have said the episode left too many questions un answered. I would have also liked to see a goodbye scene with Owen or at least see what it was he was trying to say to her. did you notice though in the SP and this episode both had unfinished sentences when referring to one another.
In the premiere Owen said "I wish I had told her (or something like that)" and in this episode Cristina said "Owen just tried to.." when she was talking to mer outside the firehouse. Neither could finish the sentence, which could be a sign that perhaps nothing is finished at this point. I wonder if they are saving the goodbye scene between OC for a particular episode? Maybe when/if Cristina comes back, which we all know is inevitable.
I thought when she was on the phone with Mer, it was her just agreeing with Mer and telling her what she wants to hear. like teenagers do with their moms on the phone "Yeah yeah, ok, whatever you say". Meredith is still so overbearing, I am really hoping I don't hear this "My person" line for a while because it is always undermining OC's relationship.
OC really had the best scene of the night. There was a reason Sandra Oh was trending on twitter last night. The scene with the bathtub was so raw when she started telling him the details about what she endured for the 4 days. You could tell by the converstions about it on twitter, it had a definate impact on viewers. Owen was tender and nuturing as he always is to her and I think it says something that she opened up to him and not Meredith in spite of the whole "my person' thing at the end of the episode.
We had a conversation on twitter about how that scene echoed the shower scene when Owen broke down on their 'date' night and he confessed his trauma to her and she stripped him down and took care of him after. I also think that when she was all animalistic in the beginning, it made sense after to me when she mentioned in the tub scene about how the animals were fighting over lexie. So I think when she was fighting everyone off in the hospital and had to be restrained, she was kind of like when Owen had the choking episode, trying to save herself and fight them off. Then Owen was the only one who could calm her, like when he had the panic attack in the exam room.
In spite of the gaps in the time line and minor details, the writing in this episode was the best i have seen in a long time on Grey's, I hope they keep up the quality, because this episode definately out performed last week's, and not just because of the OC scenes but in general. As Kevin said on twitter, Tony Phelan did a phenomenal job directing it. I especially liked the POV from Cristina in the hospital, it reminded me of an episode of ER years ago.
For anyone surprised that Shonda only cares about Calzona, I envy you becasue I have always felt that the last few years, and the post she made last night on that blog confirmed it yet again.
Gotta say I'm tired of Owen getting dumped on all the time, the angst is getting old, even though Kevin and Sandra's performances are always out performing the lackluster writing they are given. hope we can have some lightness with them soon, I think we have waited long enough.
All in all though, this was a well rounded episode, could really care less about the new characters, but I guess we will wait and see.

I really like the flowers with a little pink card she got from Owen, in the yellow vase with a nice ribbon tied around it on her bedside table. The gerberas - too sad, they ended on the floor among the sherds and I don´t think Cristina actually realised they were from Owen either. But what a mighty throw after a painfully dislocated shoulder?
Also the colour of Cristina´s car is red - the symbol of passion. Her passion has always been surgery. In a way she is going back to the only thing she thinks will keep her safe and alive - just surgery, her ultimate addiction.
I don´t understand how Cristina if she truly loves Owen and says he is her person can say to Meredith who is her person as well that she should go away from this horrible place where horrible things happen , go to Harward to escape, but Owen can stay there in this horrible place where horrible things happen?!? It´s OK for him to be there, she can just leave him there with no hesitation. Weird.
When she says she is fleeing like a bambi from a forest fire - is it an anvil for the next disaster - a fire, a forest fire indeed?

If it wasn't for Owen, Cristina would have ended up in psych ward, pumped up with drugs and most probably she would have been like vegetable for a long time. Not even Meredith no matter how much she would have tried couldn't have gotten her out of there.

Isn´t it pretty condescending how Meredith changed her tactics? Depending on what suits her better. In this episode she didn´t want Cristina to leave because after a horrible thing happened they should all stick together, but in 823 she only wanted Cristina to move away from Owen.
After all, what a calculated move from Shonda to leave us guessing what happened with CO, how or whether they said goodbye or how they resolved things, what is the current status of their relationship, from the bathtub scene to Cristina leaving the firehouse. What cruelty towards CO fans!

What cruelty towards CO fans! It's SR's way to keep CO fans hooked ! If she let them to overcome their problem, she will have no SL to tell for them. Blame it on SO and KMK...LOL ! to deliver and convey so well...too well in fact CO's love for each other ! We can almost feel their love throuth the screen ! They leave no room for doubt that they truely love each other up from season 5 !

While I accept that Shonda's grand plan may actually lose the show some fans (those people who have just had enough with the prolonged separation), there are also others who will keep watching, in the hope that there will at some point be a rewarding reunion which was worth all the waiting and the heartache. And contrary to alot of people's opinions, I actually think Shonda loves Owen and Cristina - or at least Kevin and Sandra - so much so that she keeps giving them what she thinks is meaty material to sink their teeth into and nail. She's not going to give us fluffy and happy because she knows Kev and Sandra are worthy of so much more. Not saying I don't think "enough is enough", but I do believe that that's what's going through Shonda's head at the moment which is why in this episode Cristina's storyline ended with her driving out of Seattle and away from Owen.

I understand this aspect however with roughly over a year or so of this, what SR does not realize is angst can become boring just as too much happiness. i agree no one on the show or on tv for that matter deliver like Sandra and KMK on all levels, but it gets pretty depressing week after week, season after season to feel as a fan that your heart (well at least mine) for this couple has been ripped out, run over, pulverized and spit on more than once the last year or so. i want more than angst for these characters as well as SO and KMK. One or two episodes of relatively light nature with these two would encourage us more han SR gives us credit for. I agree it is a big step that cristina talked to Owen and not Mer about what she experienced and maybe a sliver of hope, something i would lile to see more of. Yet the last scene with Mer and Cris in Seattle undermined it for me. I feel as though every time Cristina agrees with Mer that she's her person it is like three steps back for OC.

I am right there with you. When I heard that final line in 9.02 I scoffed out loud and yelled "Seriously!?" at the TV. I get what SR is trying to do, but it isn't natural at this point. The space between them is forced. That is my opinion at least. They are really reaching.

WORD! ITA with your entire post. Like you, enjoy angst instead of rainbows and sunshine all the time. Even in soap opera land, you get payoffs. That is what is lacking for some since the abortion or at the latest since Henry's death. Think 9.3 will give us more of an idea of how this arc will play out till Cristina returns. For me, I need a payoff by December hiatus or I too will stop watching. Not going to stick around for the M/L runaround. As our fab fanfic writers have shown us, C/O can be together, have balanced angst/happiness and still give SO/KMK worthy acting material. So hoping Shonda and CO. bring that for us by Dec and for the remainder of S9.

Rhimes´s strategy, so it seems. E. Pompeo has been very vocal about this endless my person thing to come to an end between CM lately, I would like to know what S.Oh thinks though. I hope she fights for it, too. If they both fight for it equally, then Rhimes will have to let go of it eventually.
