Okay they left us THERE??
Uh, sorry, getting ahead of myself.
Okay, lets start with the comic relief. I was laughing every time Callie and Mark were on the screen. The two of them desperately trying to deny their attractions to Sadie and Lexie, the '12' (one) step program and the kiss on the bed. Why don't they just shack up and get it over with? Of course that would change things drastically but that's another story. Love the bit where they were in the bar 'weirding' Joe out. Then Mark caves and Callie is stuck with her swizzle stick. Desperately trying not to ruin her dental work as she stares at Sadie across the room. Yep, loved that. It was funny and a good distraction because it didn't feel forced. The chick staring at the heavens and shouting "Come on!" every five minutes was also kind of fun. Her frustration made sense. I'll leave the medical validating of a 'bone sucking' tumor to others to research. (You know who you are) Now for the serious...er, I should say the ridiculous I suppose. Izzy telling Alex she sees Denny and him thinking its her way of exhibiting fear because he said he loved her? Uh, Alex, wake up and grow a clue! George told him there was something wrong. She's been walking around yammering to herself and he thinks it's okay that she masturbates and fantasizes about her dead boyfriend? How out of touch is this guy? I mean you would think he would be a little suspicious after his last girlfriend tried to kill herself with a butcher knife while he was on the phone in the next room. Yeah, whatever.... They could have cut out every second of Alex/Izzy/Denny and the episode wouldn't have suffered one iota. Shutting up and moving on.... Alex and Jackson: that was sweet. His being so clueless in that situation made alot more sense to me. He doesn't want this kid to give up and strong emotions are difficult for him to navigate so he tries to bluff him out of the Make A Wish list. Sweet. I wanted to slap the Cheif when I found out that the real reason he was hiding in the dark was because he was on a self-pity kick. FCOL man take responsibility for the fact that your hospital is #12. Start by addressing all of the Residents and not singling out Cristina....Never mind the fact that he said Dixon had Autism and not Aspergers. I can see why he would be steamed and frustrated but he's not done a thing to rectify it IMO. Bailey. How cool is she? I loved that she fought like a lionesse for Jackson. Her reaction to Arizona made sense as did Arizona's reaction to her. Of coure they are going to circle one another. I like that Arizona did not back down and that Bailey was able to go to the Cheif and get angry and sad. She needed to vent and he let her. Probably the best thing he did all day. PDR. Prisoner, Death Row. Yep, love this storyline. It was interesting to see where Cristina, Meredith and Derek fell on the issue. I liked the tension between the two women. It's a good carry through. I do think Sadie was right when she told Meredith to apologize like she meant it. Cristina is right to be angry and hurt. Her nature is to compete and be the best. More driven because of the betrayal she feels. Derek's reaction was nicely explained. Another moment for the Mer/Der folks. I actually liked their last scene together even though I do think Mer is a whinea&& from the word go. We never actually see Owen's reaction to treating the prisoner. He watches the others. You see his impatience with Cristina behavior especially. You also see his discomfort at having to mix the personal with a job that needs to be strictly professional if they are all to get through it. The 'buddy' moment between him and Derek as they scrubbed in was nice foreshadowing for later episodes. A few more bits like that and you can believe Owen will eventually go to Derek and ask for help. He needs to go to somebody... Speaking of... Okay, WTH was up with leaving Owen/Cristina that way? I remember the mutterings posted by Kaz (I think) from the GA boards. It looked like Owen gave her the brush off at the beginning. I thought he was being professional. Then he's bringing her coffee and trying to be a friend and the next moment you see her trying to reach out and he mutters "working" Almost desperate to get away before she can pin him into a conversation. Cristina was justified in telling him to get lost after all of that. It seems quite obvious that Owen has no idea how to talk about anything other than work *snorts* Or the Seahawks with Derek. Talk about your painful progressions. I can't believe he was left standing outside the elevator. Now I'm more curious than ever to find out how he gets into her shower with his clothes on... But that's next week, or the following...Gods, torture us already! One bright spot for our favorite couple-we know Cristina likes 'the vent' I need a rewatch to sort out what exactly all that meant. I do hope that the continuation of the prisoner story arc will bring some interesting stuff to the fore. The previews didn't give a hint of any O/C action, which is very annoying. I do wonder if the pic of Kevin with Tyne Daly means that Owen goes to Mer/Der's house to try and figure out how to talk to Cristina. Though that doesn't make sense in light of what's going on with them at this point. And it wouldn't be the first pic we've seen this year that really doesn't fit into an episode. Questions, questions, questions....

I think we are all kind of up in the air right now but here is what I think is going on: Well think again about the title of the episode "Wish You Were Here" its like everyone in the episode was on mental vacays. Callie and Mark were in denile about their crushes on interns, Meredith is in denial that she's the problem with her fight with Cristina, Derek was trying not to deal with emotions about his father's violent death while having to care for a patient he knew was a killer. I am going to like this angle with Derek, we still don't have much development on his personal issues aside from Addison and Mark, so I can see why Mer/Der fans are so upset. I thought Meredith was just unbearable this episode, usually its Cristina that is. I think Owen was just trying too hard to be objective the whole time, but becuase he's trying to balance whatever it is with Crisitna they have he is having trouble. Cristina is being crisitna, but the only one she really wanted there for her today was Owen and he wasn't, except when he thought it was appropriate. Owen obviously has major struggles coming ahead because he seems to not want to get in the middle of everyone's personal issues, especially Cristina's issues with Meredith, but since they are all on this case together its complicated. He wants to be there for her like she was for him but he seems to think it'll some how compromise professionalism that he wants to have. I like that Derek and Owen can bond over Cristina and Meredith, cause man, can you imagine having to be their boyfriends? I hope they do get to go for that drink sometime. I am guessing derek's mother befriends Owen too because she's supposed to be a military nurse so they'll probably bond over that. She might also catch on that Owen's not doing well and encourage him to talk to Derek. That elevator scene is very interesitng. It left me with mixed emotions. Although I agree Cristina was completely justified in her frustration. Cristina was reaching out to him, but he brushed her off, then when no one is around he is her friend again. Its sort of like the tables turned here remember it was like that with Burke at first, he wanted to know what it was they were doing and she couldn't define it. So I'm glad that she called Owen on it. Because that is the only way he'll learn to figure her out. I think she remembered he told her he learns from mistakes and then he doesn't make the mistake again. I would have said the same thing if it were me. But at the same time Cristina still realizes she had to let him have it because he is basically re-learning social skills. It was kind fo a let down, but not every episode can be filled with romance. I think this is what Kevin meant when he talked about how they will be struggling through everything. They kind of remind me of what family is like because you knwo you can't stay mad at them forever but it takes a while to come around. I also think this is why it will be Cristina asking Owen to go on a date. He asked her out sort of tonight but because of the situation it just wasn't good timing. They're both so complicated I love it

Interesting episode. Not enough Kevin to satisfy a month-long dry spell however. Disappointing!

I was prepared to be disappointed by this episode, after all that I'd heard, but surprisingly I wasn't. If it was a stand alone episode, I think I might have been, but since we know this is a 3 episode serial killer arc I am treating this as just the beginning. Warning: this could be long. First thing's first. Owen and Cristina.
I am torn as to whether I think Owen was rude or an a/hole in his attempt to be "professional" or whether I think Cristina was just overly sensitive because of what was going on with Meredith. Maybe it was a combination of both. Perhaps he was overcompensating and consequently brusque because he really didn't want it to be hospital gossip that their professional relationship had turned personal (we know from episode 7 how he feels about all that). But maybe on an ordinary day Cristina would have just rolled with it. Like she said, most times she can deal with hot and cold but not today. Today, she seemed DESPERATE for a friend. That's why she rolled up to Owen in the first scene all "what've we got" and then chased him out of the cafeteria like they were best friends. She's got noone and at the moment he's the closest chance she's got of not being alone. It's like as a couple, they have the worst possible timing. They are trying to start something at a time when Cristina (who never really needed anyone) is desperately in need of someone to rely on. But unfortunately, the most likely candidate is suffering through something of his own and isn't all that dependable all the time (although I think he really is trying hard to be).
I loved the interaction between Derek and Owen - not just because it's the beginning to what I hope is more bonding between them but also because in those tiny exchanges it's clear that Owen cares about Cristina and what's going on in her life. Why else would he care whether two residents are fighting? It's all about Cristina. And he can't just sit down with her and ask her what the deal is, because he's trying to be "professional", so he elicits the information from the next best source, his new guy friend Derek.
Finally, there was the elevator scene. Yes, it was angsty and I can't deny that a hot makeout session inside the elevator would have been far more satisfying but I still replayed it a few times and for some strange reason, it still made me smile. Firstly, Owen's face when he stepped into the corridor after Cristina was enough to turn me to goo (thanks KMK for being so good at what you do). You could see that he really cared. And then his "are you okay? wanna get a drink or something?"...no hesitation, no nervousness, a definite continued step up for him in their interactions. I was cheering when Cristina let him have it because I love Cristina and seeing her in so much pain just made me want to smack Owen upside the head and tell him to make even more of an effort. But most of all, it was Owen's reaction that made me happy because he was SO perplexed by her response. You can totally see "WTF just happened?" in his eyes. Clearly he thinks she's totally got the wrong end of the stick with her whole "'cause I'm the sad little girl with no friend and I tripped your saviour-complex into action" spiel. She just doesn't get it. And he's going to have to explain it to her in the next episode, I think. If he's got rules about acting all professional then he's going to have to let her in on them. They must do enough reconciling to agree to go out on a date. So yes, this scene made me happy. Happy for things to come.
As for the rest of the episode, I actually enjoyed it. Meredith annoyed me because Meredith is Meredith and always thinks about herself but aside from that everything else was good.
Sadie actually had a real purpose in this episode when it came to Meredith and Cristina and it wasn't to be the annoying ex best friend in the middle. I liked what she said to Meredith. I hope it sinks in.
Derek dancing was hideous but hilarious.
Mark and Callie were awesome and Mark actually having some depth to him and being so drawn to Lexie not just because of sex but because of her personality was a welcome change.
Even the Izzie/Denny storyline didn't annoy me because I think it's coming to a head. They finished with the whole "You can't have your cake and eat it too" symbolism which is hopefully foreshadowing the fact that while Izzie is the only person on the show who seems to be insanely happy and have everything, there actually might be something really really wrong with her. I remembered how much I like Jeffrey Dean Morgan in this episode. The storyline had turned me against him but I thought he overcame that this episode and pulled out some really great scenes.
Finally, ERIC STOLTZ. Creeeeeeeepy bastard in this, but oh so good.
I can't wait to see the next 2 episodes.

Full Recap BuddyTVI wont post the article its 4 pages long After the operation, Major McHottie finds Cristina looking a bit defeated and offers to talk about it with her. But she unleashes on him for being nice to her only when it's convenient for him. (Only a little bit earlier, he blew her off because he was in work-mode.) She is sick of his hot-and-cold routine and tells him to leave her alone.

They're both so complicated I love it ' I too love complications and i love angst. Still didn't make me want to slap him silly any less. Owen cannot help but try and be in control of everything because every part of his world is out of control. Even the professional side because he is bound to crash and burn eventually and that will probably be more devestating than alot of the 'personal' issues he's attempting to deal with. If he doesn't have his career, he doesn't have much at this point. At least from his perspective.
I may feel less upset after a rewatch-or want to chew the wallboard. *shrugs*

Well I think she looked at it like he probably didn't know what he was doing. Think of how most guys are, they dont' realize when they are messing up and have to be told up front. Owen is about 20x more complicated. I am glad she told him off instead of just walking away and ignoring him. At least now he knows what he did, or rather didnt do, and what he can learn from and not make the mistake again. Old owen was all about learning from his mistakes, so I think this is one way we'll see him try to re-learn social graces that he will have to deal with in order to make it work with Cristina. She had to be blunt with him, but I think she also wanted him to know she needed her space.
I'm glad he'll have Derek as an ally, that was what was missing with Burke. At least with Cristina and Mer fighting they can find something to have in common. I agree rural, that esp since he was asking about Cristina he cares about her, but he is finding it hard to balance the work/relationship coin and I think he's trying to observe everyone's peronalities work and otherwise a bit more before he's comfortable in doing so.

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Thursday TV's Best Dead Denny Impersonator: ABC's Grey's Anatomy (13.7 million viewers, per Nielsen estimates), which got totally killed by Fox's college football championship game (26 million, from about 8-11 p.m.), but wasn't totally dead.
The Grey's Bad: The series was down about 1.5 million viewers from its last new episode. Also, it was beat—bad—by football in the 9 p.m. hour among adults 18-49.
The Grey's Good: On a night where nobody won anything unless you were on the field with Tim Tebow, the show stole the women's vote at 9 p.m., scoring demo wins among women 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54. (Teen girls sided with football.)

Well footbal won't be on next week I think.
I started thinking about that OR Scene again, it kind of reminded me of a double date in a way. owen trying to save Derek in a really awkward mer/cris moment. I kind of can't wait for them to all hang out together. Should be some interesting dynamics.
