The departure of William Petersen lifted CBS’ veteran CSI to an above average (and very dominant) 23.13 million viewers and a 6.2/14 among adults 18-49 from 9:15-10:15 p.m. But keep in mind that these results are approximate due to CBS’ delayed start. Comparably, that outdelivered a below-average performance of competing Grey’s Anatomy on ABC (Viewers: #2, 12,95 million; A18-49: #2, 5.2/12 from 9-10 p.m.) by a hefty 10.18 million viewers and 19 percent among adults 18-49. This could, in fact, be the lowest-rated performance for an original installment of the soapy medical drama ever. Now, of course, we have to wonder how CSI will hold up without William Petersen. Personally, I think it will be just fine.

I read that as well. I think there are a few possibilities:
1. The kiss was removed because it made it too ambiguous (did they or didn't they have sex?) 2. Next week's episode will start from where we left off and we'll see the kiss 3. The reviewers were just on CRACK and made it up. Alot of the time they're just not paying proper attention and get things wrong and they copy each other. Perhaps one of them didn't even see the episode and basically wrote a review based on the other's write up (which mistakenly said there was a kiss).
Either way, while I would never complain about more kissing action, I think this scene was just right without it.

I listened to Shonda's podcast, I think Betsey Beers mentioned that Kevin was in the shower for about 6 hours? I dont know the other writer said 3. But I imagine they had to do several takes of Kevin's scene and Sandra's reaction because of how the shot was composed. Someone posted on the ABC board a link to a blog where they saw the episode before it aired, they said that Cristina gets in the shower and kisses Owen, so I'm guessing the kissing must have been deleted. I have to say that was a good move because I think the whole intensity of the scene would have lost its meaning a little. Not that it wouldn't have been nice to see kisses, but I would have felt the same if they had pity sex, it wouldn't have meant as much with how their story is progressing. I agree with so much of what you said Kaz, well pretty much ALL of it LOL Somethings I've been picking up on as well themes, foreshadowings and such: 1. Owen calls Cristina "Yang" while she calls him Owen mostly-She only referred to Preston as Burke 2. Owen seems to get jittery whenever put on the spot or asked a direct question about himself, when it doesn't have to do with work. When he asked Cristina out on the date he got a bit nervous after she said "I'm Sorry??" and also with how he reacted to Derek's mom. Cristina used to be that way, for different reasons than Owen obviously, but now she's the one taking inititive, asking questions and being forthcoming. 3. It took Burke forever to find out where Cristina lives Burke and Cristina had been sleeping together for months, yet she had no problem telling Owen where she lived . 4. In the season premiere Owen carried Cristina over the threshold at SGH when he discovered her impaled by the icicle--foreshadowing? 5. Also in the season premiere the two women who get in the argument over an affair with the otehr's husband I think is also foreshadowing. Remember Meredith told Cristina "Then I'll start sleeping with your husband". I think this will come full circle in one point or another, not saying that Owen will cheat on Cristina or vice versa, but I think there will be something along those lines especially depending on how Mer/Der are going. 6. When Burke got shot, Cristina ran away from him in the operating room, Owen is standing in Cristina's shower all wet in his clothes, she climbs in with him. 7. Burke and Cristina were never friends even though they were together, while Cristina and Owen are developing a friendship as well as a relationship. 8. Cristina is no longer the one being taken care of, Yet she is the one taking care of Owen. 9. Owen said he learns from mistakes so he doesn't make them again, when he asked Cristina out on their date, he said that 'you said you didn't want to play hot and cold' letting her know that he's listening to her. Now exactly where can one find a guy that will listen to you the first time?? LOL I think the mistake theme will be a constant back and forth with Owen, he will take a step forward and a step back. This is partly why I think there might be an affair between one of them and someone else, or a possible one. Especially with the ex in the mix. 10. In the episode where Cristina sees Owen at the bar, he's ordering a beer and some whiskey, then he says "Just the beer I start work tomorrow". Then when we see him in the vulture episode, he calls cristina "single malt scotch". My question will Owen have to make a choice between single malt scotch (cristina), or will he make a mistake a have a beer (Meredith, his ex or someone else)? 11. Many have mentioned that Owen bringing Cristina coffee is reminiscent of when Burke brought her coffee, but I would argue that her reaction is extremely different and shows how much she has matured as a character
I am very glad any kiss got axed. That scene was not about romance, it was about revelations of all different sorts.
Thanks for the in-depth Maya. Nice to see the paralells.

I dunno, I just thought itd make sense to draw some parallels for those who werent' a Grey's fan before Kevin arrived. Just to get an idea of the layering that's going on and why Cristina is the way she is sometimes. I'm goign to try to do a video version of some of the ones I mentioned so when I put them on youtube I'll let everyone know.
