Must say one thing before the spoiler tag: that scene we were all waiting for was worth the wait. Well done Kevin and Sandra. GA has a tendency to run way too many storylines in one episode. Tonight was no exception but I thought they did a much better job of balancing the various arcs. For those who love Mer/Der, there was a bit more than their share but considering what was supposed to happen by the end of the episode I'm not at all surprised. Nice mix of comic relief and yes a high degree of sap for O/C that culminated in something wonderful for the viewer and so tragically sad for Owen. I've really enjoyed the slow, steady development of Bailey over the last few weeks. She told Callie that she was tired, needed something new. She is finding her stride by taking a very hard road. I liked the subtle connection of dealing with the little girl and then sitting with her son. She reconnected with him and was inspired to try something old to help the girl gain quality of life. Clever touch. Particularly liked Dixon's assessment during the surgery. When you strip away all the emotions sometimes it's easier to see the truth. Izzy and the interns in the clinic...yeah, whatever. The best part about that was George calling her out for taking all the expensive tests on the hospital's dime. How does this woman get away with this kind of crap? The teaching moment between Izzy and Sadie kind of gets lost with all the 'what's wrong with me' stuff. The Cheif, Alex and the intern...Okay, do we really want to know what position this guy was doing? All we know is he was 'bending over backwards' to please his wife. The bit with the three scrubbing out of surgery and laughing until they cried was almost as funny as Owen's pronouncement of a 'penile fracture' on Mark. Almost... Speaking of Mark and of course Lexie...Uh, kind of odd that she's demanding he be up front when it was her that came onto him in the hotel room. And 'broke' him later in the on-call room. Not sure where that's going. I think Mark had better spill it pretty soon though because the only thing keeping Derek from pounding him is the crisis about to fall on his head. IE: hurricane Addison. Owen: "Use it wisely." OMG LMAO I felt a little bad for the pregnant couple. Really she was just another 'in' for the Derek's proposing gag but I liked her and the fellow who played her husband. Cute about him trying to explain to Lexie that cheesburgers calm his wife down, while they both thought he was stoned on painkillers. Made me laugh that just about everyone in the hospital knew Derek wanted to propose, except Meredith. And I'm with Cristina, reading about your parents having sex would be a distinctly bad idea! The diary was kind of a cheesy way to set up those piano shots Aussiello mentioned. A theme yes but I could have done without the soundtrack on the Owen and Cristina scenes. Cristina specifically was interesting to watch. All through the episode she was a participant but also an observer. Watching Bailey handle the child patient, watching Dixon handle Bailey and then helping Bailey with Dixon. All these lessons had to lead somewhere And speaking of...did I cover everything else? Oh wait, Arizona kissing Callie....okay, well maybe Callie won't be celibate anymore. I liked her little speech to Mark so hopefully she's going to find some happiness with Arizona or at least figure who she is. Oh well moving on to O/C On-call room...Uh...liked very much. Especially Owen's comment about Cristina's hair and the look on her face afterwards. *snorts* love Meredith catching up with Cristina in the hall and asking about hot sex with Owen. That was too funny and totally unexpected. Apparently O/C are as subtle as a brick to the head. Maybe there is a janitor in the basement who DOESN'T know they are attracted to one another? I'm a big fan of touching so in spite of the piano and slow mo I liked the subtle brushing of hands and the shy smiles. Very sweet if a bit thick on the cheese. How evil was she in the cafeteria. Walking up to him and fiddling with her hair! Can we say TEASE? The hallway...OKay, was thinking Barry White right up until Owen's face completely changed. Kevin just sold it so well. Utter panic and literally running out of frame. I love how Cristina just followed him immediately. A little scared, alot concerned.... I don't know how to describe my reaction to Owen's breakdown except maybe WOW. I was so concerned that the scene would be chopped up. I love how it was shot and edited. The frames almost as shaky as Owen himself. The look of a trapped animal with just enough coherence to tell Cristina to leave. Makes you wonder how often this has happened to Owen up utnil this point or if his terror is in part because it never has happened quite like this. Desperate not to be touched and Cristina fully employing what Dixon has taught her. It seemed totally in character for Cris to tell him clinically why she was doing what she was doing and what should be the result. As if both characters needed the refuge of professionalism even as his world was spinning off its axis. It was just amazing work. Kevin, Sandra, you broke my heart. Again we get Meredith stumbling into the O/C situation in the on-call room except now she has visual proof that something is going on. Cristina obviously wants to be with Owen but her subtle confusion plays nicely. Seeing him asleep on her lap was a sweet final scene after so much drama.

From the writer's blog (I love the romance vs panic attack analysis alot).
Bill Harper On "Beat Your Heart Out"... Original Airdate: 2-5-09
Hi. First of all, if Grey’s Anatomy just ended -- stop! Go back, sit down, and watch Private Practice! I know, you’re probably doing it anyway, but seriously -- it’s going to get SO GOOD and if you miss tonight’s Private, you’ll feel like you’ve missed out. GO! Come back here when it’s over!
Hi. So, Valentine’s Day is almost here. Every year, my wife and I do the same thing -- or a version of the same thing. She’s not a fan of Valentine’s Day, she doesn’t care for the hype. “It’s needless pressure, it’s invented by the greeting card companies; a gift or gesture on any random day would be more meaningful...” So every year we agree not to do anything. Just ignore it. Honestly, I love this about her. My wife is smart and sensible and pragmatic and these are qualities I love and depend on, because I have none of them. And it certainly takes the pressure off. But I’m just not wired that way. I can’t not do something. And it’s often just cheesy flowers or chocolates, sometimes it’s something more elaborate, but I end up doing something. Even though I promise I won’t. And this upsets her. Because she did nothing. Like we agreed! And now she’s the one who got something and did nothing, even though nothing was what was the only appropriate thing to do. In short: every year for Valentine’s Day, I make my wife feel a little crappy. Romance!
So I felt especially close to Derek as he spends the day trying to plan the perfect proposal. (Can we just take a second here to say DEREK’S GOING TO PROPOSE. Who would have thought that a drunken tussle on Ellis’s living room rug would lead to this? Not Meredith, I bet.) And while Derek’s twisting himself inside out to keep this surprise for Meredith, trying to find exactly the right way to do it, all of his efforts are actually backfiring, sending the wrong signals and sending her into a panic.
Romance and Panic Attacks. As this episode began taking shape in the writer’s room, it became clear that these two main factors that would be at work. Either people were experiencing one or the other, or one was leading directly to the other. Romance and Panic Attacks. Which go together, I thought at the time, like peanut butter and clams.
Start with Cristina and Owen, who have maybe the most romantic day I’ve ever seen. Shonda was very interested in the hotness of the chasteness between these two. We had lots of discussions of the tortured sensuality of the Victorian Era, where a hand placed next to another’s hand could be so electric, so concentrated, that it was actually better than sex. To go further, to consummate that kind of compressed excitement, would be to risk losing it. And I loved that in Seattle Grace, where people famously steal into on-call rooms between surgeries, these two were living a bodice-ripping romance novel under everyone’s noses. Cristina doesn’t even have words for what this is. So they choose to long for each other for a while. And it’s painful, but in that way that you sort of don’t want it to stop. It’s clear they’re both loving it.
Meanwhile, Mark and Lexie, at the height of their own romance, start to crumble under all the secrecy. Poor Lexie’s collapsing under the weight of trying to keep her relationship with Mark from Mer and Der, and then lying to Jen about her husband’s surgery, to keep Jen from going hyper-hypertensive. She’s killing herself trying to protect everyone. Even at lunch she almost outs herself as a thingy-breaker. I love Mark and Lexie, I have to say. I admit, I was not so sure at first about this pair, but I think I had the same misgivings Mark did. I like most what Lexie is forcing Mark to learn about himself. And when he finally tries, in Derek and Meredith’s bedroom (he really tries!) to come clean to Derek, it’s not just to clear the air, or apologize or confess as much as to share with his best friend this great thing they’ve both found. Cause it’s the real thing. When he can’t -- it’s horrible timing -- his disappointment is so clear.
And then Callie, who’s looking down the barrel of her failed relationships learns that even when he chooses to be OK by herself, it’s just lonely. And at the moment she feels it hit rock bottom... Enter Arizona “actions-speak-louder-than-words-especially-in-the-ladies-room” Robbins. I love characters who sneak up on us. What I think I love most about Arizona is that she is genuinely, positively interested in people, in the most selfless way. We knew this right away, when she made Alex squirm on the plane a few weeks back, with all the questions about his girlfriend. So it seems perfectly natural that she would just stop in the loo to cheerlead a colleague. Then....surprise! Romance! And she turns Callie’s whole set of expectations upside down. Which I’m all for. I want Callie to be happy. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
And amidst all this romance, all these panic attacks: Jen, whose concern for her husband is actually endangering her and her baby’s lives. Owen’s past catching up with him, just at the wrong moment. And Dr. Dixon, who suffers a perfect storm of social anxiety: too much touching, talking and unexpected information at once, causing her to lose control of herself. But knowing what she needs to cope. (The treatment she demands from Bailey and Cristina was inspired by the amazing work of Temple Grandin, whose work with livestock led her to amazing insights on how to ease anxiety in people with Autism and Asperger’s. If you ever feel like being inspired by astonishing humanity and creativity, just Google her name). Finally, Izzie, spending all day trying to make sense of Denny’s parting message, and clearly expecting the worst. Only to be left at the end of the day with a clean bill of health. And Alex.
It was Izzie’s sense of dread that made me realize something about Romance and Panic. They seemed at first like an odd combination, until I realized they are remarkably similar experiences. They share a lot of the same symptoms: rapid hearbeat, breathlessness, sleeplessness, obsessive thoughts, etc. But more to the point, I think they have the same root cause: Expectation. Romance puts us in a state of anticipation that is as good as (sometimes better than) the actual fulfillment. Look at Owen and Cristina. And anxiety, panic -- Dixon’s, Bailey’s, Izzie’s -- comes from anticipating the worst outcome -- one that might not ever even occur. They’re the same kind of scary. Sort of like falling: when we dream we’re falling, we call it a nightmare. But we also call it “falling” in love. Because we have absolutely no control over the outcome.
Happy Valentine’s Day, by the way.

Kaz, I like that romance vs panic attack analogy as well.
I'll have to go back and watch again (oh gee the hardship) in order to pick up more of the symbolism. Though I would have to have been hiding under a rock to miss the whole Victorian romance analogy. Cue piano music here.

Here's my review, I generally loved it especially owen and Cristina but majority of the development was wonderful minus Dizzy I have to say that i really loved this episode. Rural really nailed a lot of it. I think that it was uneven in some areas, though I liked how everything came together in the end. As a long time fan, I have totally gone for Arizona, she is an amazing character and I really love how they are brining her and Callie together. She's so cute I want to put her in my pocket Callie really broke my heart in this episode. I can't really understand Mark, one episode or so ago he was "going to Denver" with Lexie, now he is all unsure and basically hiding them from the world. I love that Lexie is being the mature one, knows exactly what she wants, and that doesn't include lying on a daily basis. Bailey, one of my long time favorites is finally getting a great story! one that doesn't have to do with mushy romance, although she will need that at some point. My Bailey is just so great at what she does. I love how she cares so much about children, she doesn't want to see them in pain, yet she is such a brilliant pediatric surgeon and doesn't realize it until Dr. Dixon decides she is. Dr. Dixon, whose very in and out, is clear about Bailey and her calling as a surgeon. I also love that it is reinterated by Arizona, one of the best in her field. For her it is not a competition, as was the case of Hahn, Arizona wants to see people on her SGH team achieve and realize their talents even if it is in her own feild. That is something SGH has been missing, a real teacher. Even an amazing teacher like Bailey, still needs to be taught once in a while. I also loved seeing Tuck It reminded me of in the first season when george and Meredith would always go to the maternity ward and talk to newborns through the glass. And the bedazzler was just awesome, I will confess to having one of those at a point in time LOL So Cris and Owen, I totally understood the Victorian-esque interludes they were contriving. It really made sense, considering how Shonda is always saying how Owen is like Heathcliff. I love that it is mirrored by what is going on in Ellis' journals. Cristina is loving the slow burn of Ellis and the Cheif, but has her own hot romance brewing with Owen. The first scene with them in the on call room was just hot. I loved shirtless Owen obviously LOL But the simplicity was just well done and tasteful. Loving that he knows her work schedule as well Not stalkerish but rather cute and Cristina's reaction is priceless. When he told her how he thought she should wear her hair up more often because he likes the back of her neck, I melted. It was kind of like when he told Cristina she was beautiful, just an honest declaration, out of the blue, but something that made her smile all day long and think of him while playing with her hair. Today's episode made me realize how much I missed all those lunch table scenes from earlier seasons. The dynamics are still there that we love about the characters from the beginning. It was pretty cool to see a scene like that I hope we get more. It of course was highlighted by the super hot glances between Owen and Cristina and then Cristina getting up and talking to Owen and teasing him with her hair was just hot. Cristina's scenes with Bailey and Dr. Dixon were brilliant. I liked how Cristina is coaching the patients on Dixon. Old cristina would have cared less about her bedside manner. I liked the layering of the huggins scene with Cristina, Dixon and Bailey and how it ties in later on with Owen. The book the writer talks about by Temple Grandin is amazing by the way if you have a chance check it out. She has autism but has overcome a lot in her life and you see certain things in Dixon which mirror some of Grandin's struggles. The slow-mo scenes were genius filled with cheesy goodness. I know they were cheesy, i hate cheese normally. Why do I like it here? I think because Grey's hasn't really done anything like this before. The diagetic piano music basically reinforces the whole notion that Cris and Owen are in their own little world in those scenes. The scene with them touching barely in the hallway as she's reading the diary was brilliant. It reminded me of films like Sense in Sensibility, or other types of romances where relationships just are what they are. Her reaction to Mer's question about if she had dirty sex with Owen was really insightful as to even though she wasn't even sure what it was that was gonig on between them she's having a great time just enjoying being with him. The second slow-mo was very well done. I love how their intense flirty moment is completely broken by the appearance of the ex in the elevator. How you see Owen's expression change is just so amazing, it is really going from bliss to fear in one split second is truly heart wrenching. Old Cristina would not have gone after Owen the way she did. I love how she just genuinely cares about him. The scene in the exam room was just heart breaking. Kevin really delivered that scene with such greatness. You really see the extent of what Owen will be struggling with in terms of how his past will affect him once he start delving into it, and as we see sometimes it will be unintentional. The fact that Cristina used Dixon's hugging technique on Owen when he was having his panick attack was brilliant. One thing about Cristina, she is NOT a hugger. She really does not like any kind of physical contact, unless she is in a certain mood which is once in a great while. That's why it is so interesting to see how she isn't afraid to be that way with Owen. And actually allowing him to sleep on her for who knows how many hours? I agree with Mer, that it is kind of romantic whatever it may be. The sight of him sleeping there was just adorable. I enjoy the dichotomy of Owen at work how he is all adult and professional, the go to guy, that tells you to use things wisely ( LOL) then on the flipside he's this ultra-romantic man who is taking his time in wooing Cristina, yet in one breath he turns into a lost little boy who just needs to be taken care of at the end of the day. I love that he has found that in Cristina and that she is letting him. Derek's trying to propose all day long was kind of cute. I honestly do not know how all those roses could disappear so quickly. But its cool seeing Mark and Derek set it up together. Its usually not something guys do together. And considering their past, I am glad that they are able to be at the point where they are friends again. Addison coming back is going to be interesting but I like how it parallels Owen's ex appearing at the hospital. I am sure that Cristina will have a lot of mixed emotions next week which judging by the promos we will get to see. The other fluff I didn't really care for. Sadie is still useless, Izzy is just irritating me. I loved Jennifer Westfeldt as the pregnant patient. She was great. I am glad she's on for a few eps. Its also great seeing Mer and Cris talk again, I'm so glad she finally sees what's going on with Owen and Cristina, and that its kind of deeper than what she thought. I want to see Owen interact with Derek and Meredith more, whcih I'm sure he will as the romance with Cristina gets going public but it has to happen at some point. All in all a great episode, even if it was a little uneven.

Ok here goes ....you guys covered most of it ...... The good:well of course my focus was on the Owen and Cristina's characters and I loved the whole interaction the old vintage, old school subtle love thing going on that was great. Owens melt down was seriously heart wrenching and I truly felt for him it was a hard scene to watch but kudos to Kevin for pulling it off so well. Of course the last scene when we see Owen asleep with his head on Cristina's chest was so calm in comparison...It was beautiful The rest I enjoyed, woohoo no Denny and Izzie was actually a pleasure to watch. Bailey good as ever. Funniest moment the 3 docs having a giggle over the bend over backwards story. I do get that the entire show set out to teach Cristina how to deal with Owen when the breakdown hits The bad I found this episode just had to many stories I lost track of them in my search for Owen and Cristina ... and one posing question who the hell cleared up old Merders bedroom there was a serious amount of Flowers and candles ....LOL and the ugly : I never normally hear the music in these shows but this was the exception I didn't enjoy the piano music that they played in the background of Owen and Cristina's scenes I think Barry White would have been a better choice of music LOL...

rating The Grey’s Anatomy cross-over gave Private Practice a nice lift, with the sophomore drama at a season-high (and dominant) 12.99 million viewers and a 5.3/14 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the second half of lead-in Grey’s Anatomy (Viewers: 15.72 million; A18-49: 6.0/15 at 9:30 p.m.) was a solid 83 percent in total viewers and 88 percent in the demo. pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63310451/m/447103881

Ok, I stayed up until 2 am to watch the epi, because CTV streams after the western broadcast. It was worth it. You guys covered most of it, but I'll still post this.
First, personal message for Cristina: 1. "It's not sex and it's not dirty, I don't know what it is". Yeah, right. Of course, you know what it is, you just don't want to acknowledge it yet! 2. At the end in the on call room "I'm staying here". Obviously, you're staying here! Where the hell else could you WANT to be anyway? And seriously, you could at least put a hand on his shoulder, or play with his hair or whatever. He's sleeping, he won't remember, I promise! And in this position, it has to be a huge effort not to do so even by mistake.
Second, my take on the epi I loved the cafeteria scene when Cristina puts her hair up in front of him. She was soooo hitting on him! It's like she was screaming "Hey, I want you too". And the look on his face! He couldn't believe it! I'm not sure about the slow mo in the corridor scenes, however, in the second one, from when Owen bends his head down playfully, to the exam room scene, I thought it was AMAZING. I don't know how KMK manages to go from sexy to scared/lost/drowning in a few secs. I'm not sure if it is his acting abilities or the way the scenes were cut. When he rushes in the exam room, the way he looks is definitely convincing. I'd swear I was seeing a real panic attack. My take on it btw is that Owen never had one before. So, to me the O/C scenes rocked again. I just wonder how they went from the exam room to the on call room. I suppose they had a conversation before going in the on call room, or she dragged him there?

This episode WAS one of the best in a long time! Cristina and Owen's flirty Victorian romance throughout the day was cute, and Cristina using with Owen what she'd learned from Dr. Dixon about calming panicked people was touching, but I completely awwww'ed out loud (both times!) over the sight of sleeping Owen sprawled across her chest in the on call room (and her whispering "Shhhh" to Meredith like he's a fretful baby finally asleep). This tender, nurturing side of Cristina comes out so rarely that it's wonderful to see it happening now.
I don't know how she refrained from stroking his hair or patting his back as he slept, though.

I'm guessing once she got Owen to breathe normally and not look so frazzled she just took him there. I can imagine it would take a little while given that Owen is usually so controlled and professional.

'mood music' was a bit nauseating I agree.

Everyone has written such good reviews. I'm not sure that I have much more to add but I'll give it a go. Overall, I really liked this episode. The romance vs. panic attack theme played out really well in all respects but Kevin and Sandra just took it to the next level.
I agree with Leanne. There was, as always, a lot going on in this episode. It also felt like it was a bit all over the shop so my review, like the episode, may not be entirely coherent. I probably won't cover it all anyway but I will try and talk about the things (good and bad) that stood out to me.
Let's start with Izzie, since that's how the episode opens. I'm glad she's actually taking some action and trying to figure out what's wrong with her but you'd think she wouldn't be satisfied with that blood test result given that she's been having crazy hallucinations for the last few weeks.
I am going to assume that Sadie messed up and mixed the test results and that Izzie is the one with cancer but is it in the brain? I had been assuming that it was but if I'm not mistaken, the interns were taking a CT or MRI at some point, no? Surely that would have picked up a brain tumour. Or are we supposed to think that they stopped scanning after George intervened? I have been giving the Denny/Izzie storyline the tiniest bit of leighway because I figured it would be resolved by Izzie having some sort of neurological affliction or cancer in the brain. If it's not, I'm not sure I can swallow that.
Mark and Lexie - I'm enjoying their story. It's interesting that Mark is worrying about how young Lexie is and yet she is the mature adult in the relationship who wants to stop sneaking around. I understand why Mark wants to end it though - he feels like he's betraying Derek (again) and that was all too obvious in the scene where Derek says to him "I thought I could trust you" and Mark tries to reassure him that he can.
I liked Bailey's story. I've been waiting for her to find her calling since episode 9 when she told Callie that she needed something new. I know some people think it doesn't fit that the "Nazi" would be in paeds now but I think it's very real. As humans, we all evolve. We stay the same in alot of ways but we also change. She's had experiences over the past few years that have changed her, have shifted her path. And the things that made her tick, the things that she was passionate about, are just not the same anymore. I get it. She's still Bailey though. She can still kick ass when she needs to and whip the other residents into line.
I laughed out loud at the Dixon storyline - not the panic attack, but the look on Cristina's face when she was hugging her. Of all the things that Cristina is, she most definitely is NOT a hugger (but more on that later). I just thought Sandra Oh, Mary McDonnell and Chandra Wilson brought something really great to that scene.
And finally (before I get to the good stuff), let me just say that if they want to make Arizona Robbins a series regular I will welcome her with open arms. I love her. I'm not sure WHY I love her so much. I just do. I thought the scene with her and Callie in the bathroom at Joe's was wonderful. I can't wait to see where that storyline goes.
Ok, Owen and Cristina.
Kevin seemed to get more screentime this week and it looks like next week he may get even more. I thought this was a good way to kick off his status as series regular.
I'm enjoying the friendships forming between Owen, Mark and Callie. Mark obviously doesn't think of Owen as a meatballer anymore (I gather he took good enough care of little Sloan) and I liked that he told them to page Hunt when that surgery went south.
That first scene with Owen and Cristina in the oncall room was HOT. Hot like season premiere hot. I'm pretty sure you could have cut the tension between them with a knife and those smouldering looks (which reminded me of the end of the leg stapling scene) could have burnt holes in my tv screen.
I love the little reactions that Owen elicits from Cristina. The smiles. The touching of her neck and playing with her hair. She seems perplexed, amused and giddy all at the same time - all of which seem like new emotions for our Cristina.
I didn't have a problem with the slo-mo piano-scored scenes. They were out of place in Grey's but that was obviously intentional (I don't think there's anyway it couldn't have been). As soon as I read the recap last week and saw that Cristina referred to the diary as a Victorian romance novel, I knew that the Owen/Cristina interludes would be all about repressed desire and longing looks. I ate it up. I thought it was great and like Maya (I think) said above, it just showed how they're in their own little world. I think the Owen and Cristina romance is like nothing we've ever seen on Grey's.
Also, one final thing about the music - from the first moment I heard it, it seemed to me that it had this impending sense of doom to it. I don't think anything else would have worked in its place because it was a perfect segue into the panic attack scene. And I notice that they used the same motif in the panic attack, but not as delicately. It was an interesting way to demonstrate the similarities and differences between the romance and the panic attack.
The panic attack itself was brilliant (in a heartbreaking way). Kevin seems to be the master at doing that split second change of emotion with just one flutter of his eyelids. Having read the article Leanne posted yesterday about PTSD I could definitely see how one little thing, seeing the woman from his past step out of the lift, could have been the trigger that opened the floodgates. I get it.
I liked that they had a medical reason for Cristina to be giving him a hug because I just don't think it would have been plausible any other way - firstly, like I said, she's not a hugger ordinarily. Secondly, as we saw, whether it's because of the PTSD or just because of the man he is Owen wouldn't want that.
I think that's about all I can put into writing about that scene. It made me feel so much but I just don't have the words to describe it. Outstanding work by Kevin and Sandra.
And finally, the sleeping scene. Very sweet and so significant for Cristina. It was completely different to how I'd envisaged. Much more intimate (more intimate than I think any sex scene could be).
I love the exchange that Meredith and Cristina have when Meredith asks Cristina what she's doing and she doesn't really know. She's just "staying here". And Meredith just has this look on her face, the same look she had when Cristina first revealed that her and Owen had kissed, which reveals that she's pleased.
I think Shonda said that season 5 was about the journey that Cristina and Meredith would take. I didn't really get it at first but now I think I'm starting to. They're dark and twisty. They've been dark and twisty and cynical for SEASONS. And they are anything but hopeful when it comes to love. Cristina's been left at the altar, Meredith's relationship with Derek has been up and down and for the most part she's been running scared. But in this episode the change in both of them is so evident. Meredith is talking about babies and Cristina is immersed in a lovestory that reads like a victorian romance novel while living her own.
Okay, that's it (I think). I will probably think of more but that's enough for now!

Kaz I think you summed it up brilliantly. I didn't catch the similarity of the music in the hallway and then during the panic attack. I agree whole-heartedly about the intimacy of Owen sleeping on Cristina's lap. She doesn't really touch him except at the very beginning of the second shot of them together before she reaches up to turn the page. Then when her hand is back down it's near but not touching his arm. Very tender and even for a newbie like me, obviously not the norm for Cristina.

Marrymeowen this was a great description of Owen. Thanks, its been brewing for a while

Awesome review Kaz! I also agree with you and rural that they are more intimate than if they were sleeping together. I think its interesting also to consider the Victorian aspect with Cris and Owen in terms of the neck is one of the body parts considered 'hot' in the Victorian Era because it was the only fully exposed on women, as well as the hands. If you think of how their scrubs are kind of set up on the body, it reminds me of how the body is exposed in victorian attire. Good point kaz about the music. The whole thing about diagetic music as opposed to music that is just in the background, or in the scene (non-diagetic) is that it is in direct relationship with the characters and their mood. So the fact that the same music being used non-diagetically in Owen's breakdown, effectively breaks that flow and trips us back into his messed up state. You can see in his face, how it just falls so dramatically, and then the aftermath. The poor guy must have been emotionally drained. It reminds me of my friend's son who has ODD he just kind of crashes after he has an episode, and doesn't know why or what he did. Its going to be a long road for Cris and Owen to say the least. Also I made a video for the valentine's day art section, i used some of my favorite film music in place of the piano music they used. I like my music better kevinmckidd.proboards76.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=fanart1&thread=720&page=1

I'm not sure where to post this, but this is the author the writer refers to when talking about the hug scene with Cristina, Dixon and Bailey and how it layers into Owen later on her name is Temple Grandin she has overcome so much in living with autism, she's truly amazing this is an excerpt from a documentary she's truly an amazing woman :
