So I just re-watched Rome season 2 episode 3 when Vorenus and Pullo have that big brawl. It made me think of the fight Mark and Derek had that wasn't really a fight. So who do you think had a better fight? I think Vorenus and Pullo for obvious reasons, LOL but Mark and Derek was pretty intense too..Both were also fights that weren't really fights..

Of course it's that one between Pullo and Vorenus (this is not even a choice)! The fight between Derek and Mark is kind of stupid, it's all because of Derek upset about his "killing" of a patient, and when Mark told him about he is seeing Lexie, Derek just suddenly punch him. The reason why he punch him is because of a flat reason: He's upset, and Mark is, unfortunately, a punch bag at that time.
As for Vorenus, the accusation to Pullo about him having sex with Niobe is because he don't want to accept that Niobe is having an affair with Evader. He cannot believe that his wife is in an adultery that Niobe actually agrees with. That's why Vorenus says, "You f**k my wife!" The F-word in this line indicates that Vorenus wants to believe that Evader (or someone) who forces Niobe to have sex with him, instead of her agrees about this. This is a desperate call to Vorenus, because he cannot find any other or face the reason why Niobe will have an affair.
For Pullo, of course, he has the fight with Vorenus is because Vorenus is his brother, and he just cannot accept that his brother accuses him. The time when he says he did have sex with Niobe is just for him to make Vorenus angry because of Pullo's own anger, but also he is pushed by Vorenus to the edge. He needs to release his repression from Vorenus. So they fight, until they fall to the lower floor. Vorenus still tries to attack, but then stops. I think at that moment, Vorenus realizes that this fight is useless, because deep down, both Vorenus and Pullo knows that, what both of them says are lies. The last line of Vorenus, "Don't touch me," declares his loneliness without his wife. This shows how much love he has for his dead wife, and at that time, he grieves that even his love betrays him at the end.
See the emotional trend of this fight? Comparing this to Derek and Mark's, that one is so childish! Also, through out the fight between V and P, the bromantic between them also surprisingly grows along. I cannot see this between D and M.

Also, since you've put up such a topic, I would like to post this post of mine on another board, even though it a little bit off-topic: Fw: ABC Grey's Anatomy Message Board
I hate to do this, but I really can only do a comparison between Derek and Vorenus right now (because all in my mind now is Kevin), since they both has a moment of downfall, but what they did is totally different.
First of all, what Vorenus has suffered is FAR MORE horrible and serious than what Derek has suffered. Does Vorenus really just shut himself up and did nothing? No. At least he comes back to the house and try to approach his children again. When he knows that his children is gone, of course he is emotional. He is angry about himself. However, does he express his anger to Pullo when Pullo comes back? No. He also accepts Pullo's comfort. And the most important thing is, when Vorenus knows that he has done wrong, a heavy recognition on himself, just like Derek realizes how many people died in his hands, does Vorenus just did nothing except sitting around in the house? No. He tries to find his children with his means, try to be better to them if he finds them.
I know one is living in lovely Seattle nowadays, while the other is living in brutal Rome 2000 years ago, but I what I want to say the attitude. This won't change by the setting.
So, in conclusion, Derek, please grow up, and be a man, because your ancestor is far better than you!

George isn't your comparison between Owen and Vorenus...and not Derek

I felt uncomfortable watching Derek and Mark's fight because it was real and raw and watching 2 grown men duke it out is never pleasant or comical.
But these two don't have the depth or intensity of relationship that Vorenus and Pullo did so for me there's no comparison.

Yeah I agree Kaz, Derek was all tortured and depressed like Vorenus, but Voreuns and Pullo have more depth. I just kind of think of Derek and Mark as the Pullo and Vorenus of Grey's, they always 'break up' and pull each other back together. Vorenus and Pullo, action wise and intellectually had the better fight
