Hey, nobody found this on Percy Jackson official site?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Poseidon Gender: Male Age: 4320, give or take a couple of centuries Location: Bottom of the ocean. Also homes in Miami, Key West, Montauk, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nassau Quote: I Make Waves (Literally)
About Me: The all-powerful god of the sea. Some call me temperamental, but I just like to keep people guessing. Show some respect, and I might give you smooth sailing. Otherwise . . . how well can you swim?
Who I’d Like to Meet: Ran, the Norse goddess who shipwrecked sailors and drowned them in her net. We Greek gods don’t mix with the Norse very often, but Ran sounds like my kind of woman!
Interests: causing hurricanes, creating animals out of sea foam, fishing, evening strolls on the beach, making earthquakes that destroy entire civilizations.
Music: whale songs, the tide, and Barbra Streisand, not necessarily in that order
Film: The Poseidon Adventure, The Abyss, Ocean’s Eleven.
TV: Jacques Cousteau’s ocean documentaries. Now that guy had class!
Books: Jaws. The Old Man and the Sea.
Heroes: Myself. I also admire the blue whale, the giant squid and the basking shark.
Status: Married to Amphitrite, a really lovely woman, but I have been known to have a few other relationships. Okay . . . a lot of other relationships.
Hometown: The Mediterranean Sea.
Favorite Drink: A good salty margarita.
Body Type: I can look however I wish, however normally I opt for a middle-aged man in beach clothes. I have a salt-and-pepper beard, dark hair, green eyes, and naturally I’m very buff.
Occupation: Sea God
Education: I know every creature that moves in the seas. As for land creatures, they’re not worth learning about.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely the right casting choice! ;D

We hope and guess that the description in the book is not important!!! Kevin has not salt-and-pepper beard, dark hair and above all green eyes.

Having read the book I do not think that Kevin will have to be in Vancouver for long. They may do a few flashbacks of Poseidon and Percy's mother, or of some interactions with the other gods. But in the book, Poseidon really does just have one lengthy, albeit pivotal scene. It cant take 6 weeks of filming for that. Of course, there's no telling how much the script will follow the book. I look forward to finding out more about the film. Melina Kanakaredes will be on Craig Ferguson Wednesday night. Maybe she'll mention Percy?

The cast of Twentieth Century Fox's upcoming fantasy adventure Percy Jackson, about a teenager who discovers that his father is the Greek god Poseidon, just got a whole lot randier. The studio has hired Steve Coogan to play the lord of the underworld, Hades, and Rosario Dawson will take on the role of his imprisoned wife, Persephone, who in this story carries on a flirtation with Percy Jackson's teenage friend Grover, played by Brandon T. Jackson. The duo joins Pierce Brosnan (Chiron), Uma Thurman (Medusa), Sean Bean (Zeus), Kevin McKidd (Poseidon), and Melina Kanakaredes (Athena) as fellow Greek gods on the precipice of war unless Percy (Logan Lerman), the half-human son of Poseidon, saves the day. Director Chris Columbus is currently filming the adaptation of Rick Riordan's first novel in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, The Lightning Thief, in Vancouver, B.C., with an eye on a Feb. 12, 2010, release date. hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/05/steve-coogan-ro.html

Rosario Dawson, Steve Coogan board 'Percy Jackson' 9 May 2009 10:33 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news
Rosario Dawson and Steve Coogan are the latest to join Chris Columbus' upcoming adventure "Percy Jackson." Based on the first of five children's books by Rick Riordan, the film follows the story of Poseidon's half-human son Percy, who sets out to prevent a war between gods in modern America. The Hollywood Reporter says Coogan is playing Hades, while Dawson is set to portray Persephone. Columbus, who also helmed two "Harry Potter" films, wrote the screenplay with Craig Titley.
Also starring in "Jackson" are Catherine Keener, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd, Melina Kanakaredes, Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson. Coogan recently starred in "Hamlet 2" and will be back on the big screen in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian." As for Dawson, she last starred alongside Will Smith in "Seven Pounds."

Rosario Dawson and Steve Coogan go to hell in Percy Jackson By David Bentley on May 7, 09 06:24 PM ROSARIO DAWSON and Steve Coogan have joined the cast of upcoming fantasy adventure movie Percy Jackson, which is set for release on February 12, 2010.
Chris Columbus is directing the adaptation of the first of Rick Riordan's best-selling books about the adventures of 12-year-old Percy Jackson, the son of a human woman and the sea-god Poseidon.
Catherine Keener, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd, Melina Kanakaredes, Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson already have been cast.
Coogan will play underworld deity Hades, and Dawson his imprisoned wife Persephone, who has a flirtation with a satyr called Grover Underwood (played by Jackson), Percy's best friend. Only the role of war god Ares is yet to be cast.
Dawson most recently starred in Seven Pounds and Eagle Eye and Coogan in Tropic Thunder and Hamlet 2. He returns as Octavius in the Fox comedy-adventure Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, released later this month.
As I reported earlier, Sean Bean is to play Zeus, the ruler of the gods on Mount Olympus; Pierce Brosnan will be the centaur and oracle/healer Chiron; Melina Kanakarades will be Athena, goddess of wisdom.
Percy encounters various mythological beings and becomes entangled in a conflict brewing between the deities. He has to journey to Olympus, now located at the top of the Empire State Building.
The film is based on Riordan's first book from 2005. Studio bosses at Fox 2000 are hoping for a Potter-style fantasy franchise, with aims to turn the four subsequent books into follow-up films.

I am halfway through the book, and I sense that Kevin might be a very very very very side cast.

Many of the gods have only one or two lengthy scenes in the book. Kevin's role as Poseidon will be like that, but his character does seem to be less cavalier than the other gods. He was cast perfectly for this particular god. Keep reading. You'll see. He gets the multi-dimensional role . It's going to be great. I dont think Poseidon appears at all in the second book, but my son assures me that he plays larger parts in subsequent books. (He's read all 5.)

My daughter also assures me that Poseidon is more prominent in later stories. This series has the potential to be a franchise just like Harry Potter. Cross your fingers folks.

Well Ive made it through the first 100 pages (books only 370 odd pages long) and no mention of Poseidon yet....
I can see why they chose a camping site for the shoot and I can imagine that the sets are awesome just by the descriptions in the book.....
Pierce Brosnan will have a big roll ......

As I wrote, Poseidon speaks in only "one scene" at the end (he's speaking to the son), so, according to me, in the movie there will be two scenes with Kev: in one he'll quarrel to Zeus and in another he'll speak to his son. It seems that Poseidon will be more present in the other books.
