I was hoping that Owen actually would use "as you wish." Or will he for the following episodes?

Wow finally got to see this episode You guys covered most of it so....all I can say is Awesome, I was really enjoying the episode and making mental notes as it played out but when we got to the end with Owen and Cris having there little chat I kinda forgot all that happened in the rest of the show...that was a mind blowing scene. Well done to both of them. The 3 word phrases really worked well a bit amusing but also extremely sad your heart just poured out to them. We also find out that the shrink is not trying to help Owen get back together with Cris but rather to teach him how to let her off the hook......
Cristina: Hey there now. Take care now. Nice work Yang. What is this?
Owen: Yeah that's my shrink, my shrink gave me these sentences, we uh, we came up with them together. They're all three word sentences, so I could have something to say to you instead of the three words that are...that are killing me. The three words that you know I feel but I can't say them because it would be cruel to say them because I am no good for you. I don't want to torture you. I don't want to look at you longingly, when I know I can't be with you. So yeah, I'm smiling and I'm saying 'take care now'....I'm letting you off the hook. I'm trying, I'm trying so hard to let you off the hook. I'm trying to make it right...what I did to you. Can't you see that? I'm just trying to make it right.
Cristina: Take care now. really can not wait for the next episode I mean there are only really 3 episodes left how can they get back together in such a short time or can O/C actually continue working together.......tention is building...I hope they make it, wouldn't like to launch season 6 with these guys pending Leanne, I don't think Wyatt is teaching him how to let Cristina off the hook. More that she is teaching him how to put distance between them in order to give him time to heal. He can't be so personal with Cris or he'll never focus on himself. He has to learn to do things for his personal well being and not strictly because doing them might get him closer to her. Owen cannot have a healthy relationship with Cris or anyone else if he doesn't sort out his feelings and deal with the deeper issues. There is also the fact that Owen truly believes that hurting Cris was some kind of conscious choice. But, as Cris pointed out on the vent, he needs to 'stop blaming himself for things that are beyond his control." The only choice he's made up until now is to try and bury everything. And even that was a decision born of fear and pride to some extent.

Finally put my finger on it....."take care now" totally reminds me of another famous three word sentence from a film, where the 3 words mean ILY ......"as you wish" from the movie The Princess Bride. Ok princess Bride isn't a drama, but those 3 words made my heart melt then too. Kaz, I hear you on the emotional hangover, although this one is milder than from Elevator love letter. Leanne, I am really struggling to see how they get back together by season end as well. I think I will go insane if they leave it hanging until next season. Has anyone else noticed that since Mer confronted Owen in the hallway after the choking, Owen has been keeping his hands in his pockets around Christina? Kinda like making sure he keeps his hands off her? I noticed that too about his hands. He looks at his hands in Dr. Wyatt's office too. As if they are somehow disconnected from him, beyond his control. "I can't believe my own two hands could be capable of..." as he says on the vent in "Elevator Love Letter".

Leanne, with the title of the next episode being "What a difference a day makes" perhaps they do have a conversation or an event that unites them quickly.

Owen is becoming very cognizant of those hands and what they now mean to Cristina.
Notice, in the rooftop scene with the helicopter, that it's not so much that he's "freezing" as in a flashback or whatever, but that the whirling blades remind him of the ceiling fan and "what his hands did" as he looks down at them and twists them together, before Derek snaps him out of it.
He ASKS if he can hold her before he even approaches her in the on-call room in ELL. He's not assuming Cris will ever let him touch her again.
Curious, too, that Cris states, "You don't have enough hands!" as the GSW patient is bleeding out in surgery, just before Owen sends her running for the "magic powder" in his truck.
I think "What a Difference a Day Makes" will definitely include some fast-track movement on Cristina and Owen's reunion, especially if they have a heart-to-heart talk at the church.

I hope that the church will open the door to a discussion of Burke and what Owen's love has meant to her. I live in hope but I dunno.

I was listening to the Podcast on the Grey’s abc website and the writers said that Cristina’s last words to Owen were going to be, “I love you too” until the table read when they decided on, “Take care now.” The latter is perfect. It shows how much pain she is in because she can’t be with him and it also acknowledges that she has heard him. She heard him say that he loves her through 3 words and that it would be too cruel to say them out loud! Again – Kudos to Kevin and Sandra.

Re C/O I think Cris walking off after the TCN/ILY to Owen (It's almost the same way she walked off after the "up against the wall" kiss from earlier in the season.) was her way of acknowledging their shared love and the need to stay apart until Owen is healed enough to get the go-ahead from Wyatt to go back to courting Cris. They are both pained by that requirement, but now are on the same page in hoping to make it happen. If Cris had stayed to talk further or had made physical contact of any kind, it would make it so much harder for Owen to comply with his treatment guidelines. The "three word sentences" and the distancing were confusing to Cris because they came without warning or explanation, and she felt the same kind of "professional freeze-out" she got from both Burke and Hahn, so that made her mad as a hornet to get it from the guy she still has feelings for. I had tears in my eyes both times I watched this scene, and I'm not sure which one I felt sorrier for.
I also can't help but think that the church/wedding venue will spur some discussion and sharing between Cris and Owen. The title of the episode should mean something for their relationship, as well as the other connected couples.

Owen was crumbling just trying to explain the three word sentences. She cares enough to give him the space to heal. I think she's finally starting to understand the magnitude of the situation for Owen, not just how it has come to impact her. Also, she recognizes that Owen is not Burke in any way.
I'm not counting on the church meaning anything too significant to either character. I would be pleasantly surprised if it does spawn a more open discussion. For once I would like to see Owen a bit more in control of his emotions and Cristina more off guard. She has been the strong one in their relationship but Owen is not a china doll and he needs the chance to prove to himself and Cristina that he can support her.

I'm interested to see where this goes from here - whether Owen is going to need Cristina to explicitly say "I don't want to be let off the hook" or whether the "take care now" was enough for him to come to that realisation.
I do think that the writers can be incredibly clever. I may be in the minority in saying that (and I agree that they've made less than stellar choices at times as well) but I've read, or at least perused, alot of fanfic for Owen & Cristina and most of it just doesn't compare with where the writers have actually taken us this season.

I think you have something there. I picture Cristina telling him she doesn't want to be off the hook in her own way, perhaps also telling him about Burke, at the same time. Its really her turn to open up I think, and Owen is really going to need some reassurance and confidence building. He's basically the type of guy now that will need to hear "I love you" from time to time. I also have a feeling that she is going to ask him to go to the wedding with her at some point just because I dont think he'll be invited except by Derek, and I think Mer could care less if Owen is there. I think it'd be kinda hot if they exchange "Take Care Now's" all day until the wedding.

Perhaps Cris catches the bouquet at MerDers wedding LOL
Seriously a wedding could be the turn around point for these two ~ life isn't exactly a bed of roses for most people so I would say the writers are doing a great job good and bad choices because thats how life pans out its not all great choices....
Owen and Cris storyline is great and often stands out from the rest of the show could be that the story is a great one for the writers to sink there teeth into or as we all know Kevin and Sandra are just a notch above the rest....

Agreed Leanne. Just a notch LOL. I keep thinking that the wedding will inspire O/C to consider their future together and that will get them talking at the wedding.

I remember somewhere reading that Mer/Der's wedding will have a positive effect on all the couples on Grey's so that's what I'm guessing. If they're not back together before the wedding, I think they will be at the wedding. We've been seeing glimpses of before Owen in the last episode and his impulsive nature like when he made Cristina go to his truck to get the med stuff from his glove box. Hopefully there is more of that in this episode
