Well...the sneaks gave that whole episode away...but it wasn't bad.

I liked it when Cristina called him sweetheart. That was so adorable. Cristina is definitely changing for the better.

It's been very quiet around here!
Things I liked about this episode: Cristina taking Owen's side and Owen standing up for himself (although more about that below); the ALS patient wanting to control the time of his death so his organs could be donated - - it was the first patient story that moved me at all in a long while.
Things I didn't like: not enough Owen; I still have no interest whatsoever in the Alex/Jo interaction; I find the idea of Jackson as the senior person on the Board of the hospital completely ridiculous; although I usually like Debbie Allen, I find the Mama Avery character to be more than a little over-the-top.
Things I had reservations about: I would have liked to see Cristina make some real arguments in Owen's favor, instead of just "standing by her man." Of course, I'm happy that she is, finally, supporting him, but I think this was a missed opportunity to use Cristina to explain to the other characters (and, of course to the audience) why Owen is so important to the hospital - how he fought to protect the hospital and the entire staff for months during the Pegasus debacle. I felt the same way about Cristina's speech to Derek about Owen. She just said "you haven't really forgiven him." She could have explained why Owen isn't really in the wrong here. It's not just that Derek hasn't forgiven him - it's time for someone to acknowledge that Owen doesn't deserve to be blamed in the first place. And why do sensitive conversations have to take place in public? Cristina told Owen his job was at risk in front of his staff; Owen confronted Jackson and Derek in the hallway instead of privately. The same plot purposes could have been accomplished with more private conversations, and both Cristina and Owen would have looked more professional and mature. I didn't like how it was done.
Things that I really had no interest in: I thought most of the rest of the episode was kind of meh. The "grumpy old men" storyline for Cristina was trite and predictable; the Alex patient story line seemed forced and a little boring - it also makes you wonder if Pegasus wasn't right about how to pick up harvested organs, since that kidney as far as we know made it back fine without the need to send two surgeons on a private plane. Bailey just seemed sort of arch and whiny; Richard seems to be turning into a wimp instead of a leader - you wonder why someone didn't ask him to help out after Owen quit.
This episode reminded me that, for a while now, I've been watching almost entirely for Kevin. When he's not on screen much, I tend to lose interest. I hope next week gives him more screen time!

I find it a very interesting moment when the DCD patient said that Dr Hunt signed off his wish to become an organ donor after his cardiac death. It seems a small moment, but I think a very intriguing one. April then says Dr Hunt signed a death warrant on my patient. When compared with one episode in season 6 when Owen fought tooth and nail against the female patient´s wish to die and in fact this DCD guy was in a similar situation. He could have lived for some time longer, but he decided not to. Maybe it has no real significance for the upcoming storyline, but I still think it is something to ponder about whether Owen might have changed his mind. Isn´t DCD considered a form of euthanasia, too?

Tania I know that episode you are speaking of if I remember correctly the dying patient played by Sarah Gilbert at the end she explained why she wanted to end her life at that particular time Owen was confronting his own demons episode 18 season 6 he was thinking of his friend the one he watch die here is a snippet youtu.be/M1Vei4foKIE so his thinking was that he couldn't save him so he would try to save her it was all intertwined with his personal experience as a soldier who lost his platoon so he was trying to save her but she didn't want it to me I think he remembered that and ok'd it because he knew it was what he wanted if this makes any sense at all

Ah my favorite respite from those who willfully misunderstand Owen and Cristina! I love you people, by the way.
I try to avoid sneaks, but it seems I can't avoid discussion of them, so I knew of Derek's return to blaming Owen, and for me it felt very repetitive. I was surprised that they closed it out with Derek opening up about Mark. I didn't see it coming. I'm not sure they laid any believable groundwork for that confession, but I appreciated it just the same. I love how Cristina called Derek on his back and forth, forgiving not forgiving, and even when she told Mer "what is wrong with your husband?"!! And can I just say "SWEETHEART"!! Never thought I would hear anything like that come out of her mouth.
I liked how Jackson overheard Richard's doubts about him, and took it in and used it. Interesting turn of events. I do hope we are done with boardrooms now, please.
Hopew, you are right about the tiresome unprofessionalism, but in truth, everyone on this show is unprofessional in so many many ways that it is par for the course.
The ALS story was moving and lovely, although again a retread of ER ( and even a retread of GA -- the litany of who will benefit from transplanted organs-- the writers have used that device at least twice before IIRC). I really want more medicine, even if it is OTT, stolen from ER or whatever. It is fascinating how much this hospital in jeopardy storyline has irked fans, or at least the rabid online fandom.
Moving into the homestretch of the season, not what I had hoped in many many ways but I love how much Owen and Cristina are talking and she is supporting him.

Now it makes sense why Owen would sign this man´s wish off. I forgot about the last scene between the husband and Owen in 618.
