Well, everyone except George.
After watching the last episode of Grey's Anatomy and reading some of the comments on one article, one comment really caught my attention. User Jordyne offered, in reference to Denny, “Maybe he really is a ghost, then the Winchesters, could come and hunt him. Wouldn't that be weird, because he's their daddy!”
This kind of got me thinking, how Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as adorable as he is, Garfield eyes and all, seems to be at his most lovable when he's playing a dead guy. Surely, Denny was lovable even before he died, yet during the first few times when he made scarce and fleeting appearances as a ghost, I could almost hear the millions of females watching Grey's swoon. On the Showtime comedy Weeds, Morgan also plays a dead character, Mary Louise Parker's dead husband whom we have seen only on video tapes, aside from Shane Botwin. A Supernatural - Grey's Anatomy crossover sounds unimaginably far-fetched, but it really got me laughing.
Why is everyone happy on Grey's all of a sudden? I take back what I said about not wanting Cristina (Sandra Oh) to end up with Hunt (Kevin McKidd). The thing is, Cristina seems happy. And Hunt won me over when he, out of the blue, asked Cristina out on a date. It was the type of thing that caught even the perpetually guarded Cristina off guard, that made a dead guy's head turn in curiosity. I honestly can't recall any guy who ably interspersed asking someone on a date with the word enema. Cristina had a wry sort of smile, which initially got me worried if we have lost our gloomy Cristina for good. However, the second she turned to Izzie (Katherine Heigl), she got that uptight scowl back and practically barked at her. Never mind the fact that later on she picked up what Izzie said and asked Hunt what his best surgery was.
Meanwhile, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) got the proverbial seal of approval from McMommy precisely because of that which she tried to hide, i.e., her gloominess and at times stubborn way of looking at things. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), for his part, got a sobering wake up call also from the McMommy regarding Little Grey, and the two seemed to be en route to somewhere promising. Even typically morose Karev (Justin Chambers) looked like he was shaping up, finally, and even plans on introducing Izzie to his mother. George (T.R. Knight), well, George is sure to get something soon.
As is obvious, things at Grey's Anatomy are funnier when everyone is happy and not brooding over something. Their banters have reminded everyone that Grey's did not used to be the melodramatic pseudo-soap that some say it has become of late. Yet that's not how life goes, of course, and things won't always be peachy at Seattle Grace. I only hope they get to keep this momentum going.
I also concede one thing about George: give the boy something, anything. Everyone's moving forward, even Callie (Sara Ramirez). It's about time George finds something.
