Anyone think Kevin will be a perfect Georgio in Sondheim's Passion? If Sandra Oh can be Fosca, that will be perfect, and I totally can see them in the 2 characters. And I bet you, they can sing! Really! Well, just a thought...

Ok this one is better en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passion_(musical)Passion is a musical adapted from Ettore Scola's film Passione d'Amore (which was, in its turn, based on Iginio Ugo Tarchetti's novel Fosca). The book is by James Lapine, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Central subjects include obsession, beauty, power, manipulation, passion, illness, and love. Set in Italy in 1863, the plot revolves around Fosca, an ugly woman, and her love for Giorgio, a comely soldier who in turn is in love with an attractive, married woman named Clara. These roles were created by Donna Murphy, Jere Shea, and Marin Mazzie respectively. I think seeing Kevin do this would be awesome...its a musical to boot nice idea Georgeseurat (although I dont see Sandra as an ugly woman)

Hehehe... Not that I'm saying Sandra Oh is ugly (and actually, Fosca is not physically ugly but because of her illness), but she has the texture of Fosca IMO.
Thanks for posting the info. This should be my job, so please accept my apology.

Storyline is quite interesting. Don´t know anything about Scola as a stage director, but as a film director he was responsible for some of my fave movies (Le Bal, La Famiglia, La Nuit de Varennes - I think I even quoted some of them here in another thread about fave movies from the 80´s and 90´s). But I couldn´t help thinking "and there comes another soldier ...". ;)Not that this is bad, of course.

Well, I know him, but sincerely I don't remember anything in particular. It may be that I saw one of these movies, but I don't remember them. I'll have to put remedy...
Passion (1996) (TV) (screenplay "Passione d'amore")
Passione d'amore (1981) (screenplay) ... aka Passion d'amour (France) ... aka Passion of Love (International: English title: informal literal title)

Haven´t seen anything of him recently either. I think that now he belongs to a sort of an "old school" of Italian filmaking (when it comes to Italian filmaking, this is actually a compliment). But I strongly recommend "La Famiglia" and "Splendor" (which got the exact same theme as "Cinema Paradiso" but is way better). I come from Italian roots (Grandparents as immigrants or being the first generation raised in Brazil), so watching his movies kinda makes me feel ¨home¨ (but I also understand this is a generational thing).

Yes, his movies best known and appreciated are the old ones.
Oh, happy to know about your Italian roots!
