It's my favourite too ... I watched it yesterday again and even though I've seen it quite often now, I could still cry like a baby.

So many wonderful and heartbreaking scenes from Rome. One of my favorites is Lucius confronting Cleopatra after Mark Antony has committed suicide. Kevin displays such rage and deep pain when Lucius realizes the extent of Cleopatra's betrayal. Another is when Lucius and Pullo find the children in the slave camp. And another is when Vorena the elder finally forgives her father.

In James Purefoy's commentary he mentions how much he enjoyed his scenes with Kevin. They worked very well together. The many moments between Lucius and Antony rank very high for me. Those characters paralelled one another in their rise and fall. In the end Lucius finds redemption, Antony never does. I particularly liked this conversation you posted Leanne and their talk after the orgy in the Egyptian palace. It was fitting that Lucius, the loyal soldier, be there when Antony ended his life.

I agree Rural. Scenes with Lucius and Antony are usual my favorites. Particularly the one at the beginning of the second season when Antony goes to Lucius' house as requested by Pullo to try to pull Lucius out of his bed and back to his life... (the "stand in f** attention when I am talking to you!" scene - absolutely loved it ! )
James and Kevin seem to bring the best of each other acting abilities when working together.
Also a favorite scene from Season 2 (but too difficult to watch ..Kevin is amazingly good in it) is when he realizes that his daughter is the traitor ....
and any funny scene with Pullo ;D

Yep loved that scene where Antony is in Lucius' face after Niobe's death. Excellent.
Oh gods, love the commentary about that scene where Lucius realizes his daughter has betrayed them. The director and everyone involved really worked on that scene to get it right.
Funniest 'sex scene' ever has to be when Cleopatra tries to seduce Lucius and winds up with Pullo. My husband and I were just talking about that one this morning actually and both of us cracked up. I still laugh like a fool whenever I watch that scene.

Such good selections everyone! Since it is the Ides of March marks the day of Caesar's death, we should all watch Rome 1.12 today.

Heh it looks like when it comes to "Rome" we all have the same tastes because the above mentioned scenes are among my favorites. Death of Antony&Cleopatra, including my favourite bits, from Antony's suicide, Lucius's loyalty to Cleoptra subjecting herself to snake's bite while hissing "You have a rotten soul" in Octavian's face. Here is unforgettable dinner with Octavian, Antony, Agrippa, Atia, Octavia and Livia. And final encounter between Atia and Livia. And total war at the house of Julii ("Son of Hades"). Polly Walker rocked this scene (as many others) And here chilling encounter between Erastes Fulmen and Vorenus&Pullo team, right after the former abducted Lucius's kids. Both KMK and RS are genuinely scary in this clip. Here one of my absolute favs - Ceasarion asking Vorenus to tell him about his father. And hilarious "Greeks talk whole lot of nonsence" exchange between Antony and Vorenus. LOL Love those two together but I'm Vorenus&Pullo's girl all the way. Unfortunately I cannot find the scene featuring Vorenus laying his awesome smackdown on Cleopatra, as it was one of KMK's most badass scenes. And here is Gaia's death and Ray S. incredible acting. Vorenus&Pullo fighting on the arena. This one is epic. Vorenus&Pullo&celestials spheres ...don't you just love Kevin's 'Rome' voice? Lucius lets Pompey go. Cannot find the one where Vorenus&Pullo rescue Lucius's children from slave camp. KMK's acting was divine.

Ides of March today The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martii) is the name of 15 March in the Roman calendar, probably referring to the day of the full moon. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other months.[1] The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was killed in 44 B.C. Julius Caesar was stabbed (23 times) to death in the Roman Senate led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus and 60 other conspirators.
On his way to the Theatre of Pompey (where he would be assassinated), Caesar saw a seer who had foretold that harm would come to him not later than the Ides of March. Caesar joked, "Well, the Ides of March have come", to which the seer replied "Ay, they have come, but they are not gone."[2] This meeting is famously dramatized in William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, when Caesar is warned to "beware the Ides of March" wiki. adding here a lovely playlist of Vorenus made by Kevspa www.youtube.com/user/McKevspa#g/c/6D58ECD9496FCAB3Enjoy

So while we swing into another mini-hiatus for Grey's Anatomy, paired with how bruised those characters and our own fan hearts are, I would like to reinvigorate a discussion of Kevin's past projects.
As the name of this thread connotes, we have recently passed through the Ides of March. So it seems utterly appropriate we resurrect a discussion about pivotal and/or favorite Rome scenes considering this show was, perhaps, the way many US fans became aware of Kevin's brilliant work.
So, as I prepare to go off and begin reviewing episodes, preparing my own analysis (with admittedly limited knowledge of this particular time/place in history) I would appreciate your help. Please either post here your suggestions for scenes you'd like to share and/or discuss or email me on the board with your thoughts.
Thanks!
