The Scoop On This Year's TV Finales Grey’s Anatomy – May 19 It wasn’t too long ago that “Grey’s” was looking ready for life support, but last year’s shocking Seattle Grace shootout and a fresh round of interpersonal entanglements re-energized the seventh season. This year’s finale, however, will not be traumatic, at least as far as body count, but the emotional stakes are still high: Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) career – and her relationships – are jeopardized over her clinical trial falsehoods, Cristina’s (Sandra Oh) compromising situation forces a major choice between career and love, and the Chief Resident is finally chosen. “There's a huge race for Chief Resident going on right now that Jackson’s right in the middle of – I think more than people know right now,” star Jesse Williams (Dr. Jackson Avery) tells PopcornBiz. “I consider this season a very transitional season. After the shooting last season, people were kind of shattered on the floor and are now putting the pieces back together. This year that this wrap up is going to be the culmination of all of that: romantically, relationships, character work. It's going to be very different event than the finale we had last year.” www.nbcphiladelphia.com/blogs/popcornbiz/Season-Finale-palooza-The-Scoop-On-This-Years-TV-Send-Offs-121649079.html

Mega Buzz on Grey's
What can you tell us about the season finale of Grey's Anatomy? — Katie NATALIE: Alex's decision to reveal that Meredith tampered with the Alzheimer's clinical trial is going to come back to haunt him. "Alex is going to have to deal with the fallout of making the choice to rat her out," Sarah Drew tells us. "He walks into the decision hoping to accomplish one thing and ends up accomplishing something completely different which creates a huge storm of drama between him and Meredith."

Kevin McKidd improvs: Owen poking his head out from around the corner here was an improvised moment — too cute not to include.

From The Set – Unique Angle – to make room for all the theatrical lights that light the set, most film sets don’t have ceilings. So, to do this unique low angle shot of Owen from Cristina’s point of view in bed, Kevin McKidd had to lie on scaffolding with a fake ceiling dropped in above him as he was lit from below instead of above.

I'm gonna post it here because it doesn't really involve Spoilers for S8 ... TVLINE | You’ve done an excellent job of having Cristina stick to her guns on the baby issue – do you think you can hold your ground and in fact have a lead character on a Big 4 network’s pride and joy terminate her pregnancy? Or realistically are there other factors in play? No ones ever told me I couldn’t, so it never occurred to me I couldn’t. It is a polarizing issue, and we deal with a lot of polarizing issues. Addison performs abortions on Private Practice all the time, and she’s had one herself; Violet has had two herself. I don’t feel like that’s the point. Every woman has her legal, God-given right to choose. TVLINE | Are we counting Cristina and Owen as a “Break-Up”? [Thinks for a moment] I don’t know. That one, I don’t know. I’m still debating what’s going to happen with Cristina and Owen, in my own head. Every day I change my mind what’s going to happen with them. www.tvline.com/2011/05/rhimes-greys-anatomy-finale-pompeo-dempsey-final-season/

Re EW contest. I don't know how many of you have submitted your nominations. If you can, PLEASE include other shows in other categories if you watched anything (Fringe, V, House, HIMYM, Modern Family, anything) -- I see a lot of entries that are just cut-and-paste from other Greys/CO noms, with no variation whatsoever. And none of them include Kevin as someone likely to deserve an Emmy. Maybe it's not likely, but he and Sandra both definitely deserve it. Just a thought : )

Polls close tomorrow May 30. Sandra Oh is nominated in most likey to receive Emmy nomination category. Cristina and Owen are nominated in "Best Fight" (they were both certainly great if it was painful) and in "Best Romantic Cliffhanger" (again, not sure I agree with the writers' idea of appropriate summer cliffhanger material but, if so inclined . . .) Worth visiting the page to at least cast your vote for Sandra. popwatch.ew.com/2011/05/27/tv-season-finale-awards-polls/
