- On the whole, did you like or dislike this episode?
Liked it.
- What was your favourite thing about this episode (line/character/scene/storyline etc)? And your least favourite?
Favorites: Az jumping in and saving the girl's leg/life. When is someone going to get a clue about how inept and callous Stark is? Callie putting Arizona in her place during the surgery. Definitely not the time or place to talk about their feelings. Cristina pushing through her fears and realizing that she still has it in her to save lives. The moment when Owen went to check on Cris in the OR and he Teddy managed to communicate her state without words. Nice friendship moment. Best of all, the scene at the beginning with Owen and Cris in bed. He sees the change in her and I love that he said as much. Wonderful.
Least Favorite: Teddy marrying whatshisname to provide insurance. I like Teddy but this is just one more ridiculous twist in a series of misteps that began way back in 6x10 Holidaze.
Meredith whining in the OR.
- What would you change, if you could?
I would find a real storyline for Teddy and I would stop trying to write Avery as the new PTSD poster boy. He doesn't have the depth to pull it off.
- What would you rate the episode out of 10?
6
- Will you watch this episode again?
Yes.
I didn't rate the episode higher because some of it felt very trite and implausible. Avery pitching a fit in the OR and then being the one to inform the mother of the shooter of his condition? Yeah, lame IMO Meredith and her constantly leaving the OR. To me that said more about her screwed up mental state than her speech to Derek about being a victim. She has issues but its hard to sympathize. Keeping Stark on staff as Robbin's superior? I really hope there is some sort of investigation there because this isn't the first patient he's put in jeopardy due to his own laziness and indifference. And finally, the reference to the training Owen was supposedly giving the staff. So all of this training took place off camera with only one very wacky scenario for us viewers? It was nice to see Owen in full blown doctor mode. Triaging and usiing his trauma skills. Too bad we got so little of him AGAIN.

My review - On the whole, did you like or dislike this episode? I thought it was a pretty good comeback episode, not just for Cristina but a lot of the characters though of course a great Cristina episode It was about closure and also catharsis for some to deal with the shooting, though I am kind of getting bored with all the parallels of the shooting I wish the writers would move on and develop other stories. But I am mainly glad to see that my Cristina is back - What was your favourite thing about this episode (line/character/scene/storyline etc)? Fave: OC hotness in the beginning loved the pillowtalk between them it was great to see them both just enjoying each other for once. I like how Owen can read Cristina now without even having to try compared to last season and the fact that she isn't hiding things from him. Plus shirtless Owen is always a good thing I thought the OC scene was nicely contrasted with the sarcastic pillowtalk between Mer/Der. The show is so much better when the focus is the core characters and this episode was an example of that. Loved seeing Owen in charge, how he got Kepner in gear, and was just great at organizing everything being realistic even though it was a tough situation. And that they still showed how Cristina is always on his mind. I could have done without the scenes of Owen and Teddy but can't win them all. Alex rockin' it in the peds surgery with Stark, even when he's having a crap day Alex can deliver. I loved Callie telling off AZ, she was completely right, and if AZ thinks she can just come back and sweep Callie off her feet, she is going to have to try harder than that. I also liked the vigil scene it was really beautifully shot. The scene with them all laughing in the gallery was hilarious, it reminded me of George's funeral (another parallel) but great to see a lot of their tensions released. And lastly Cristina and Meredith arm and arm, great way to end an episode if you ask me And your least favorite? For me it seemed like Teddy is kind of an afterthought in this episode she had the small bit at the beginning and the end. I mean even in the OR with Cristina she wasn't doing that much, I didn't really like her speech to Jackson about how she was a dr. during war time blah blah, that aspect has been overdone. This whole marrying the patient storyline is a joke, and not to mention that it is insurance fraud. If she is a cardio surgeon she would be making plenty enough money to pay for this guy's surgery herself. The whole "Jackson be a man" mentality people are having is annoying and I really dislike the character Jackson has become. Plus the speeches in general are kind of getting obnoxious on this show. Meredith really got on my nerves, but I guess that was the point. sometimes she is really selfish I think, but it isn't exactly Derek's fault if she wasn't talking about her issues to him. I missed the part where she was trying to talk to him about her issues instead of transferring them on to Cristina. Bailey was also annoying me in this episode she just seemed kind of "there" - What would you change, if you could? I would not have even bothered with the Teddy/marriage stuff in this episode it just seemed so out of place and unnecessary compared to everything else that was paralleled with the shootings. I just don't care to see where its going even though Scott Foley is completely adorable. - What would you rate the episode out of 10? 9 - Will you watch this episode again? Enjoyed this ep alot, with only a few meh whatever moments which Rural and MarryMe highlighted. Random thoughts.. Poor Derek must be getting FED UP with Mer second guessing him. Mer the know it all just can't believe that Der knew how to help Cris. Cris, Owen, Karev were awesome. Liked how Karev's history came up that stirred and turned anger to sadness for the shooter, not just for blue eyes, but helped the audience too. Owen should be d**n proud - not a single loss of life - and it has a lot to do with how he organized and ran the ER and the docs. The hack peds surgeon is a little over the top - I wish they had played him out more subtle, would make the s/l more plausible. Teddy's marriage s/l is Is it just me...she doesn't seem like part of the team. Even Keppner feels more like part of the team. Everyone coming in to champion Cris on her return to the OR was a great moment - you could really feel the team. Great cathartic moment when it shifted from reflecting on their journey since the shooting to celebrating the victories. The release and the laughter felt a little like closure. I think the shooting s/l will start to fade now in second half of the season...

Loved it I think this might just be my fav epi so far of the season LOL well Mer and Derek ...mmm I though Mer did that very well I dont know how many times Ive sat with my hubby and asked about and event and got the short story, and Im like no way there has to be more to it than that ... Men are not the greatest with details LOL
Love the O/C moments and I can tell it was a hit with many of the fans ...
thought the show was well done and if not even a little better than the season 6 finale .... more emotion I think
I think Cl3me is right this might be the end of the shooting s/l
Only thing which didnt gel was Teddy and that marriage s/l although the guy seems quite fun perhaps we should just wait and see he might be good.... also the Stark episode and Im not so in with the whole Callie and Arizona s/l as everyone else is kind of light and getting some where and then its these two which just brought it down a bit ~ Avery in the OR one wonders if you can actually walk out of an operation on such grounds
Loving Mark and Lexie, enjoyed Alex, bailey and all the rest ....great episode

Teddy's personal life just didn't flow with what was going on in the rest of the epsiode. I wasn't confused on whether I should care or not because I didn't. As I said Scott Foley is really likeable, but he's not going to be enough to make me warm up to her. I agree too that I think it was better than the season 6 finale, Krista has not been my favorite writer for many reasons but I thought it was great because so much of the extra stuff was in the background and the main characters were actually the focus for once.
Only thing which didnt gel was Teddy and that marriage s/l although the guy seems quite fun perhaps we should just wait and see he might be good....

Oh yes I agree Marryme re the extra stuff and I think it was a strong reason why the story worked so well did you guys notice the Guitar in the corner at the Firehouse Of course. How couldn't we? ;D And did you notice that he apparently takes of his wedding right at night? At least he doesn't have it on his finger in the morning scene. Yeah, I know, I saw it too often. - On the whole, did you like or dislike this episode? Pretty much loved it. - What was your favourite thing about this episode (line/character/scene/storyline etc)? There was a lot. First, of course, the morning scene, especially right after MerDers rather cold and - in this case - loveless morning scene, it was nice to see OC laughing and just being cute. I also loved it when Owen checked on Cristina, but without her realizing and feeling "controlled". I loved the badass staplegun scene with Sloan in the ER and the whole McBadAss-Trauma Surgeon-behaviour. ;P I loved April kind of showing her "talent" for Trauma, I liked the idea of her being in charge while Owen was absent. The whole Stark/Alex story was pretty cool. I think two of my three favorite lines came from those two. ("All state, baby!" from Alex, "I hate this place." from Stark, the third one was "You're married." - "So, you got married." - "To the woman I love ..." - And your least favourite? Hard to tell. I think the MerDer storyline "We have to make a baby now, no matter how peeved we are." was somehow strange. I mean his "Then turn over." wasn't really comforting and her "Fine." didn't sound really convinced of the idea ... whatever. Apart from that I didn't really "not like" anything, I think. - What would you change, if you could? Of course I would have loved another Cristina/Owen scene in the end of the episode, but I don't wanna be greedy. - What would you rate the episode out of 10? 9 - Will you watch this episode again? Definitely.

I really enjoyed this episode. I think it was quite well balanced. To quote Owen, Cristina "looks different" and is better. Yes she is back and I really enjoyed her come back. It was well thought and realistically done. I was worried about the way they would handle Cristina's come back that it would be too forced, but it wasn't at all. Cristina is indeed back to surgery, but it is clear that she is a changed person and her perception over medicine in general and most of all surgery is changed, for the better. I loved how calm and focused she was during this whole crisis situation, asserting every step she made to be sure that she was indeed ready to take it. There was some residual fear there - which actually was normal in that situation - but this time Cristina managed to overcome it. She was sure of what she was doing. And I loved how she reassured Owen that she will be fine going in the OR.
I loved Owen being all badass running the ER, but at the same time we could see that Cristina was in his mind all the time. The last time she was in an OR she got so scared that she collapsed under a table, so it was totally understandable for him to be sure she was indeed ready to go back into an OR. And I loved how much trust he had in her, the moment she said she will be fine, he went back to running the ER because he knew she will be fine. Until he found out that Cristina was operating on the shooter. I loved how he checked to see if Cristina is OK without her knowing. She didn't need to know. And I think that this was one of the few times when Owen put personal stuff above professional. Because it was about Cristina and he really needed to make sure that she was doing ok.
Of course, my favorite part of all episode was Cristina/Owen scene. It was long needed. And I loved seeing them so happy and carefree and just enjoying each other. I loved how easily Owen can read Cristina now, how he immediately realized that she is changed and at peace with herself. (I must assume that this scene takes place the next morning after the fishing trip?). I love how opened Cristina is with Owen, how much she trusts him, how honest they are with each other. It was great to see again the deep connection they share in such a short scene.
I was very disappointed on how they handled all the Cristina/Meredith situation in a total Shonda style, with all the issues being buried once again and once again Cristina being the one who took the first step to repair their relationship, a step that Meredith made only because she knew Cristina was back to being a surgeon. It only proves that Meredith's perception over Cristina is first as a surgeon and then as person. Shonda had a great opportunity here to redefine the friendship between Cristina and Meredith, making them confront with real issues but unfortunately she choose - as she did last time - to simply get over it. I am glad that they are friends again, but this is not how I wanted to see the problems solved. It's not realistic at all. Earlier in the episode Meredith accused Cristina of erratic behavior and not even recognizing how deep impact the trauma had on Cristina and at the end of the episode everything's back to normal. I don't buy that and Derek was right to call her "spoiled", because she kind of is self centered . But at least she is starting to talk to Derek about her issues.
About the rest: Alex continues to rock and I love him more and more. Loved every scene with him.
Jackson is behaving very erratic lately and I wouldn't wish I had him as a surgeon. Seems like he decides who does deserve to be operated and who doesn't. If they are trying to show him as suffering of PTSD, then they do a very lousy job because I don't buy it at all.
Lexie cried way too much this episode. She watched news on TV and she cried, what kind of surgeon is that?
April was the same but at least she could gather herself and do her job.
Bailey, she lost it a bit in this episode with the kid who almost died. She is clearly not over her trauma yet, she still needs some time to heal and try not to take every patient so personally.
Callie, I loved how she stood up for herself in this episode but I do appreciate that Arizona realized how deeply she had hurt Callie.
Teddy, as Marryme said very well didn't glue with anything in this episode. The marriage s/l is just wrong and don't see the point of it. And if Teddy can compare Owen's marriage to Cristina with the dumb decision she made, then she's very much mistaken.

A review that will echo much of what others have said and yet, will contain comments which have surprised me after watching the episode again this morning. A lot happened and it appears I found way more to love about this episode than to hate about it so that was nice. Trinity's idea of the timing of this episode being the morning after 7.10 makes sense given Arizona's arrival and that she's wearing the same clothes here. The one thing about timing which confused me was the chief saying it's been six months since the shooting yet 7.6 was supposed to reflect six months since the shooting. Maybe it was that the documentary aired six months after? Dunno. Things I liked: The contrast of all the central couples at the beginning of the day. Meredith and Derek the old married couple (hee - speaking from the vantage point of sixteen years of marriage, as I am), next to Owen and Cristina reveling in each other, Mark and Lexie sliding back into old habits, and Callie continuing to stand up for herself with Arizona. Dwelling for a moment on just how sweet it was to hear Owen and Cristina laugh, seeing them smiling at each other, caressing each other, talking to each other, sharing how they feel with each other. I loved how Owen nuzzled Cristina a bit after kissing her forehead, sort of like he did in 7.5. This was a combination of the hot scene and the talking scene I'd hoped for in this episode. Owen found his words and shared them with Cristina and she did the same while sharing how she feels. Theses two had the basis for the rest of their days in just this short scene. And I especially like it as a morning after the fishing trip moment. Okay...moving on. I liked the chief acting chiefly. Lining the troops up and giving them a pep talk and then transitioning to Owen, badas.s trauma surgeon, to lead the way. I liked Owen checking in with both Derek and Lexie before the ambulances arrived, showing his feelings but also doing his job, leading by example. Also for the chief, I liked him stepping up to Owen about the cop's surgery but making it work and trusting Owen's instincts. I also liked how even as she was rolled into the hospital with her hands in a patient's chest Cristina got that Owen was concerned about her and managed to show him she was still okay. I also liked how he didn't hover, how her words and actions assured him she is indeed feeling better and then they both got down to work. And yes, I loved how Owen both took in Avery's words about the shooter and asked if Cristina knew, before assigning Avery, Kepner, and the nameless staff person to do jobs that would allow them to step up but also give him time to go check in on Cristina. I liked both that Owen took that moment to reassure himself about his wife's safety and that Teddy understood that was what he was doing and was able to reassure him. Again, Owen lingered for a moment afterwards, convincing himself Cristina was all right, showing his worry, but knew he had to trust her and get back to work himself. That Cristina stayed in that room surprised me not one bit. She's a doctor who has never had difficulty making tough calls. There was no great drama or hemming and hawing about it for our girl Cristina, she just got down to business. She is stepping back into her skin, as she was in showing herself to her husband that morning, and in that skin being a doctor means not making judgments about patients, but simply treating them. I liked how relieved Teddy seemed, both to have her student back and to not have to save this life by herself. I loved Alex in badas.s wrestler/surgeon mode. It showed how Alex is growing and lead quite nicely into both Arizona's return and his moment later in which he gave Avery his perspective on the shooter and how he's sick and deserves help too. I also loved Callie standing up for herself, drawing a line with Arizona both outside her apartment and at work. Just because Arizona has it all worked out how their relationship can work again doesn't mean Callie wants it that way. I will like seeing how they work this out. Loved how Kepner is still her exuberant goofball self but also finds a way to step into the role of surgeon. Loved how Bailey got down to business but called the patient named 'Chuck' by 'Charles' when he was flatlining. Loved watching them all shift from a grave moment of reflection and tears to having the giggles in the gallery. A nice moment for them all to share. Things I didn't like: Lexie's continued role as the wimpy one. She's back with Mark for just one episode and she's back to being the crying girl as she was in 6.7's hotel fire. I had high hopes for her with the backbone she developed post-Alex but guess we'll have to wait and see. Avery's scenery chewing got a bit old to me and I could see him being the one to talk to the shooter's mother coming from a mile away. It would be nice to think it was because of Alex' perspective but it was hard to tell. As much as it was a circular story for the chief to meet up with the cop from the SF again and for Webber to be very much in chief mode this time, I thought they spent too much time on the cop and not enough time on the chief. Mark seemed to have little to do but be Lexie's protector and to go back in time to S.5 in being peeved at Owen's trauma surgeon ways with the staple gun. (Both men were right - in the moment, get it done, then go back to make it pretty when you have time.) And things I didn't like or hate but think I can see where they're going: Meredith's endless rounds of crabbing at Derek. These two are reconfiguring their relationship so their bedroom scene made sense. At work she was peeved about the fishing trip which segued into 'did you even notice I was in a trauma too' and how she was the wife in the waiting room who told the shooter to shoot her. So we're shifting to more couple drama for Meredith and Derek. And I think we're supposed to see that in how Meredith brings everyone from the waiting room to the very walkway where Derek was shot and shows them the vigil happening, then takes Derek there post-surgery where he informs her Cristina's back at work and then all is right with that part of her world. And while I had hoped for more than Meredith and Cristina linking arms and joking with each other at the end of the day to end this most recent rift in their friendship, I get that they didn't really leave time for it. I also get that we're supposed to see something positive in the way these two women put on their big girl pants and stepped through the rift and back into their friendship. Will either one get, jokes about babies with three heads aside, that the landscape of that friendship has shifted? Hope so. While the justice of the peace scene at the beginning of the episode seemed abrupt I think it was meant to stand alongside all the other established couples as a beginning that will lead to something deeper for Teddy and Henry. At the bar she was rushing, all business, handing him paperwork. Meanwhile Henry tried to slow things down and concentrate on the positive. I think Henry's quiet sweetness will break the Attachment Barbie spell.

Quick post between hospital visits to say that I saw the ep and I loved loved LOVED it Wow ... Dr Hunt absolutely rocked that Trauma room... he was cool, calm, assertive, in control and a kickass teaching Head of Trauma... and all of this whilst supressing his internal struggles with managing & balacing hosptial resources ... serious concern for his wife and no doubt, fighting to contain his PTSD. We got angst .. we got sexy.. we got a happy, smiling, sweet & loving man Kev rocked this epi... once again his acting was ace.... body language.. eye contact... voice.. facial expressions ... all used perfectly to portray Dr Hunt's emotions Thanks Kev... awesome stuff. ... and of course, can't end without saying thanks to Sandra Oh, who also had a kicking epi .... Dr Yang is back and I hope we get to see how Cristina Yang shows us how it is possible to balance a successful career, happy marriage ... and (dare I say it!), bringing up a wee little Yang-Hunt person ))))

- On the whole, did you like or dislike this episode? Like it. The only thing was that the school shooting thing didn't get to stand alone. It served as reaction fodder to gauge how far along in recovery everyone is from the season finale IMO.
- What was your favourite thing about this episode (line/character/scene/storyline etc)? Anything OC. I just hate we got so little of them. I thought the MerDer babymaking sex was funny. She's eggy so even if she's so mad she can't look at him just turn over, lololol. For once, they managed to save everyone. Owen's laugh. Kepner's badass Robin to Owen's Badass Batman.
And your least favourite? It's too simplistic and repetitive to just say Teddy. My least favourite part was that Stark and Teddy didn't fall madly in love and like Richie Cunningham's brother just go up the stairs and never come down. - What would you change, if you could? The part of the storyline that didn't go like my previous answer.
- What would you rate the episode out of 10? They're all 10's....even the ones I hate. It's Grey's, I'm helpless.
- Will you watch this episode again? A buncha times just like the other ones. Ooh, okay. Sorry.

This episode was well worth the wait. I loved almost every aspect of it. I thought it was a powerful (although admittedly a little heavy-handed) way to end the Seattle Grace shooter arc and give the characters some closure.
Some aspects which stood out to me in particular in terms of closure / coming full circle / redemption or whatever you want to call it were these.
- Cristina operating on the shooter - last season the shooter took away her ability to be a surgeon. The shooter this episode gave it back to her.
- Bailey tending to Chuck/Charles. She couldn't save Charles Percy in the SF but she could save this one.
- The Chief coming face to face with the police chief again but being in the opposite position in that he was trying to save the life of one of the police force's own, rather than the police being there to save the Chief's own.
- Meredith and the wife and finally being able to own the fact that she went through a trauma too and it's okay for her not to be "fine". On this note though, I do have a bit of a quibble as I don't really think we saw enough of Meredith struggling or trying to suppress her own trauma and then all of a sudden she's saying to Derek "what about me? Has everyone forgotten that I went through a trauma too?". Well, yes, because you've spent the last 6 months brushing absolutely everyone off and insisting that you're "fine". There comes a point where people are going to start to believe it or just not care anymore. She did come across as a bit of a brat in that OR with Derek but like I said, I'm at least glad that she faced the issue and hopefully now we can move on.
Some favourite moments from the episode were of course the Cristina and Owen scene at the start. I hope this settles those viewers who were concerned that once Cristina got her surgical "groove back", so to speak, she would realise that she made a mistake rushing into a marriage with Owen. It looked like quite the opposite to me. Now that she is feeling "better", she seems to be able to settle even more comfortably into her married life. I'm looking forward to what the next half of the season brings for these two.
Aside from that one scene, I also liked the way Owen's concern from Cristina was woven into the fabric of the episode. He was doing his job running trauma (and how badass and awesome was he this week??) but still managing to keep Cristina at the forefront of his mind. From the scene where Cristina is on the gurney being wheeled into the OR, to asking Avery whether Cristina knew she was operating on the shooter, to the silent confirmation with Teddy that Cristina was okay...it was all wonderful.
Another nice moment was the candlelight vigil followed by the montage of the doctors operating (underscored by what I refer to as the "Meredith and Derek soundtrack" because it always seem to play at important moments for those two). It felt like a healing moment and the point at which I exhaled and thought to myself "this trauma storyline is done".
Now to the aspects that I didn't like so much.
Firstly, the Teddy marriage storyline. I liked Teddy this episode, in her interactions with Owen and Cristina and just throughout the episode in general but this storyline is RIDICULOUS.
Secondly, speaking of the ridiculous, how is Starke still around? It seems clear that he's cavalier and has little concern for his patients, taking the easiest way out even if it means doing something like amputating the leg of a teenager which could otherwise be saved (with a little bit of thought and hard work).
Thirdly, Mark and Lexie. I think it's great that she had this cathartic moment of clarity because of the trauma and was able to declare that she loves Mark but do we seriously have to go through this again? He's old. She's young. What's happened since they broke up to make them think they won't have the same issues again?
I think that's about all for now. I do think this is an episode with alot more layers, especially when viewed as the counter-point to the season finale but it will take a few more watches and some further pondering to come up with anything more enlightening to say.
For now, it's enough just to note that I truly enjoyed this episode, I was cheering at Cristina's return, and I can't wait to see where we go from here.

From this episode I get the feeling that this Teddy/Henry marriage s/l Krista's new project or campaign like the triangle, but on a smaller scale because it just kind of seems to be in the background of everything else that's happening. I dunno I still don't think its a good idea.
