Okay, I'm uncharacteristically without plans on a Friday night. And have drunk almost a bottle of wine. But I have seriously been thinking about this for awhile. We need to stop being timid about promoting Kevin. We need to think of how to bring his very diverse fan bases together, especially including Rome, WM2, Journeyman, Trainspotting, Father Ted, Dog Soldiers, Percy Jackson and Grey's fanbase together. This man is in his prime and he needs to come to the attention of the major American directors, inlcuding Eastwood, Scorsese, Tarantino, Bey, even Woody Allen very, not to mention all the excellent independents, very, very soon.
Obama won the 2008 election by not giving up on any area whatsoever, no matter how hostile or how hopeless. For us, that means we need to have good people at TWOP, diligent people doing an American-based (sorry, but Europe is secondary in this business) Google daily and leaving comments on EW, TVGuide, TVLine, etc. He has a decent support group among Grey's fans, but could always use more. He needs constant urging for the major late-night guys to book him (Craigy was awesome but should have happened a year before and needs to happen again; I'm sure Kimmel would book him again; Letterman needs to get him stat.)
Someone needs to be a liaison for all these diverse communities - someone who can articulate why advocating for Kevin would mean they may get what they want (i.e., an MW2 or Rome movie.)
Kevin has a great personal story, is a brilliant actor and is likeable by both men and women. He should be getting better offers than he is currently getting. If I can help in any way, I would love to do it. Some food for thought for Sunday's chat.
