In this movie Kevin Plays Malky Johnson Leader of the Tong gang
the cast reads a bit like a whos who:
Iain Robertson - acted together in One last chance and Gunpowder Treason and Plot
Joseph McFadden - acted together in Dad Savage
Steven Duffy - acted together in Gunpowder Treason and Plot
Laura Fraser - 16 yrs of Alcohol
Garry Sweeney - Acid House, Gunpowder Treason and Plot
I really enjoyed this one...I subsequently found out that the Tong and Glen Gangs do exist in Glasgow. The cry "Glen ya bass" is shouted when running into a fight means to fight and battle for your team, your gang.
Probably one of the only times you will get to see KMK in footie/soccor/football/ kit and you will catch a glimps of him picking on a guitar..

Small Faces (1996) 108 minutes
synopsis from IMDB
Glasgow, 1968. Thirteen-year-old Lex Maclean lives with his mother, and his two older brothers, Alan, who plans to go to art school, and Bobby, a rather slow-witted member of the Glen gang. Lex enjoys art, but is caught up with the gangs when he mischievously fires an air gun at Malky Johnson, the gang leader of the Tongs. Charlie Sloan, the Glen gang leader, offers Lex protection if Lex will work with his gang. Malky is further annoyed with the Maclean brothers when his girlfriend Joanne is attracted to Alan.
For Kevin fans this is one of Kevin's very first movies - many sites have it listed as his actual first and I'm still trying to determine which out of Trainspotting or Small Faces actually come first. Anyways either way its a very young, blond, Curly haired Kevin with a thick Scottish accent (you might need subtitles for this one). He has one of the major roles and his air time is continuous throughout the film. In the beginning of this movie I found the story a bit disjointed but it does eventually all fall into place. Possibly one of the only two scenes that I have seen Kevin play soccer (football), first was in the credits of Trainspotting and second in this film. He takes the part of Malky Johnson the gang leader of the Tongs, hes basically not a nice guy. His home life is dysfunctional and whats left for kids in this situation is generally to find structure in the form of a gang. The main star of the movie is a very young Lex (Iain Robertson) (One Last chance, Gunpowder Treason and Plot). Lauren Fraser is the love interest Joanne (16 yrs of Alcohol) Director Gillies MacKinnon (Gunpowder Treason and Plot.) What is noticeable about Scottish movies is that you will often see the same actors acting together. This movie is a low budget production.
Personally I enjoyed this movie.
