Eh, I thought it was a pretty good episode, overall. Yeah, there were virtually no C/O moments, but getting to see an intern dress Meredith & Derek down for their unprofessional behavior? PRICELESS!
There were no surprises in this episode. We knew it was going to be all about the interns, right? What this episode succeeded in doing -- to my surprise -- is make me actually begin to invest a little and care about the intern characters. To be honest -- when it came to the original crop of interns, I couldn't stand Meredith (too whiny) or Izzie (what an attention hound!); Karev left me meh for the first several seasons. I only cared about George and Cristina. This episode made me really begin to like all four of the major interns (the fifth with the creepy Karev-fetish? Not so much -- but somehow, the writers gave me the impression prior to this ep that she was a temporary character anyway...)
Big laughs award for the ep go to Shane for his "struggling not to puke" faces -- hilarious! And how about that teenage mom and her crazy-enabling mother? Perils of the foster system aside... that baby appears to have dodged the bullet in a big way!
This episode did what it needed to do -- it gave the interns enough personality and backstory that they're now people, not cardboard. I'd be happy to follow a show about those interns, if they're positioned to be the Next Gen. Now please -- Shonda, can you puh-leeeeze just get rid April? Please please please please please?

I was so bored watching this I almost missed Owen in the gallery ITA. I watched this episode for only one purpose. Medically. Watching a crop of interns to see how they deal with their new status. And oh boy they are one hell of a disaster and stupidity. Aside from Shane I don't know how they are allowed working there. Not that Mer, Cristina and their gang didn't do stupidities at their time (i.e. Izzie cutting LVAD) but I think these 4 beat them at incompetence. It didn't make me care for them or it certainly didn't give them any more personality. Aside from Shane who - except for the part where he was trying not to gag - was acting more maturely then all the other 4 girlies. Overall a total waste of time.
