Nice to see Cristina actually stick up for Owen through out this episode, and actually caring about what he was going through. B ut sucks that he is kicked in the gut again and let down by everyone, at least he will figure out soon that it was all to keep the hospital, but itll for sure be a rough patch for OC not like we arent used to that. So basically she is going to give up surgery (symbolicly) so she can buy the hospital with the others all to help owen like he initiated the divorce, etc. so they could win the lawsuit. Its all an endless cycle and I want it to be over.

I enjoyed it! Cristina is fighting for Owen...I'm thrilled! He was the center of EVERY decision she made this episode. Plus she truly understood how hard he was working.

In terms of Cristina and Owen's relationship, this episode was a big step forward. The first scene between them was about sex, but it was also about more than that. They are actually talking - he is confiding in her about his problems and she is listening and cares about him and what he is going through. They are BOTH ignoring the demands made on them by others (most significantly - Cristina is ignoring Meredith, finally!) and putting their time together ahead of other things in their lives. For Cristina particularly, that's very significant IMO. Throughout the episode, she reacted to every decision she was asked to make by thinking about how Owen would be affected. She finally agreed to go along with the plan to buy the hospital and to quit en masse only AFTER she spoke to Owen and realized that he hated the idea of Pegasus too, but was going along because he thought it was the only way to keep the hospital doors open. Of course, in Shondaworld, there has to be an obstacle, so in order to help Owen she had to hurt him by letting him think she was abandoning him by quitting. But I'm hopeful that will get resolved soon - - since the news about what is really happening will have to come out pretty quickly. And it may set up a story line in which Cristina is the one who has to chase after Owen to re-establish the relationship. I'd like to see that!
Some of the other aspects of the episode were odd. The constant thunderstorm and the eerie background music made it feel a bit like an old-fashioned horror/suspense movie, which felt kind of out-of-place. The Jackson/April/EMT love triangle seemed like it wandered in from another episode, and I still haven't warmed up at all to Jo or the idea of a Jo/Alex relationship. I did love Arizona's takedown of Derek at the beginning - - it was long overdue IMO.

Interesting episode! The mind boggles at what LLC name that group will finally prove, and I couldn't help but yell "Don't listen to McDoomy!" at the TV screen when Meredith was blithely telling Cristina that going behind Owen's back in this would be the right thing to do, and that he'll be fine with it when everything has been fully explained. But I'm definitely interested to see where the next episode takes us... which frankly, is saying something after the last couple of episodes.
WHY would they leave Bailey and Webber out of the plotting, however? Considering Webber's the fountain of knowledge regarding administrative and managerial experience in running the hospital... DUMB! Oh wait. That's the Realism Fairy on my shoulder, distracting me again with her nitpicking. She was giggling throughout the episode at the sustained thunderstorm in Seattle (bwhahahaha!), and at the impossible location of the McDreamy Mansion (with that skyline, isn't the mansion out somewhere on the west side of Elliot Bay, on the other side of the ferry system? Wouldn't that make something that a 3 or so hour daily commute back and forth? Shush, Realism Fairy! It's Shondaworld, it's not SUPPOSED to make sense!)
I just cringed throughout this episode for Owen. He's so isolated and just wants to do the right thing... it hurts knowing that he KNOWS Pegasus is ultimately a bad thing for everyone, but that it's the ONLY choice. Poor guy! He's gotta know as well that his job would be the first cut when that deal goes through...

WHY would they leave Bailey and Webber out of the plotting, however? Because Bailey lives in her own Fairy World. Even more absurd. The hospital is close to financial collapse but she is asking for genome mapping fonding. And she gets mad when Owen says no. It hurt my brain the logic some of the doctors have. Where the hell do they live?

He's gotta know as well that his job would be the first cut when that deal goes through... I felt the same. Only in scenes with Cahill I thought he felt truly secure, like she really has his back and he can confide in her. What I really liked is that they were shown like being much closer to each other, really developing a sort of friendship, she touched him, called him at 3am, then she encouraged him not to feel nervous, they ate together, a lot of details were shown that it is not so professional like in the previous episodes. The truth is she is now the only person he can rely on and trust. I really liked how she described what effect he had on her during the surgery and really in this episode they immensely supported each other. Looking back at Teddy as friend, it is almost incomparable, Alana is a perfect friend.

While I do see your point, it has been a season and a half of pure torture. I wish they had talked about their true issues or at least mentioned it. The way the whole plot unfolded, it's like a mirror image of Owen asking for a divorce because of the lawsuit and not telling Cristina. And there is something in this scene that rubs me the wrong way - I wrote last night that these writers can't even write a decent sex scene, and I stand by this and it is not about sex or porn or whatever. Something was missing there, but I can't exaclty point what. I guess it was just me.
I love Owen as much as the next fan, but the whole "it was my fault" has to stop. Owen didn't crash the plane, it was not his fault. I don't care the writers wants us to think Owen was responsible and negligent, like I said a million times, maybe one of the survivors can feel this way, because there is always the need to blame someone. But there is no plausible way that can be true, and he was neither one or another, so let's drop this nonsense and move on.
I wish Shonda & Co could remember, once in a while, who are the characters they are writing for. Owen was a major in the freaking Army - PTSD, guilty, self punishment, the idea that he would feel threatened or scared about talking to a bunch of nurses - no offense to the nurses themselves here - is ridiculous. That Meredith, who I really don't like, would consider even for a second about using Lexie's "money", is absurd. That Callie would suggest using the Mark's money - her daughter's money - and that Arizona would agree with that is too too much.
But then everything about the plane crash/lawsuit is over the top and ludicrous.

I too think Cahill has been a better friend to Owen in these last couple eps than Teddy was in the whole two seasons she was at SGH. How's that for a BFF?

Something was missing there, but I can't exaclty point what. I guess it was just me. I thought it was just me,too. The scene was emotionally empty, zero emotions, just an act of sexual intercourse. They don´t make love anymore. I wonder whether it was scripted like that or whether it was director´s choice. On another note, I do feel Cristina was quite irritated by Meredith in this episode, the laughter was very evident of it and also the way she said You want me to lie to him, but yet, she always manages to make Cristina shut up.

That Callie would suggest using the Mark's money - her daughter's money - and that Arizona would agree with that is too too much. But then everything about the plane crash/lawsuit is over the top and ludicrous. ITA with ALMOST everything you said above except: (i) I still think the first scene was fine. They should be talking more about their underlying issues, but at the moment Owen is dealing with a situation-from-hell at the hospital and I would have been more bothered if they weren't talking about that so I'm happy that they were. (ii) The writers don't want us to think that Owen is responsible for the crash - - if they did, the "victims" group would be blaming Owen and they clearly are not. The writers want us to think that Owen thinks he is responsible, and for him to think that is IMO totally in character. This is a guy who felt guilty when his soldiers died in an IED attack, when he clearly didn't plant the bomb! He felt so guilty about his stupid one-night-stand that he couldn't face his wife and ended up confessing it to her when, if he had been capable of it, he could have hidden it from her forever. The man is a walking, talking, very handsome, 6 foot tall monument to guilt. It's who he is. And I can certainly see him being uncomfortable talking to the nurses, not because he is intimidated by them, but because to accomplish what he needs to do to preserve the hospital sale, he had to lie to them about how everything would be better after the sale, when he knew in his heart (as he admitted to Cristina) that wasn't true. That's not inconsistent with his having been a Major in the Army; it is perfectly consistent with being an honorable and honest man. But I do agree with everything you said about the stupid story line and about Mer's and Callie's (and Derek's BTW) crappy behavior!

I disagree. He was not uncomfortable, he was written as being as scared about it as Cahill was about performing surgery. Two very different things and far from the direct approach he brings from the Army AND for what was shown before.

HopeW, you have said everything I felt about this episode in your two posts. That scene at the beginning was definitely not just about sex. It was much more than that. Given the situation at the hospital, them talking about other issues would have felt flat and wrong. Cristina has shown a lot of concern for Owen in this episode. He was her number one worry there. One cannot blame Cristina in this. She did the best she could do in an impossible situation. And we all know she did for Owen. She has fought for him and defended him and stood by his side in this. I just hope this mess doesn't take too long. It's already been too much. And I agree 100% about Owen. That's who he is. It's very hard to convince a bunch of other people to go ahead with a situation that yourself don't like, trust and fell it has a good outcome. Especially someone like Owen.

Also if you consider the voice over talking about compromise, they literally took turns, and I think that is what this new leaf is about for them, but its nice to see him getting emotional since he usually hides his feelings until the last minute. Cristina was being pulled in all directions professionally and emotionally and in the end she made the best decision based on the options presented to her.
Just like how he sacrificed their marriage for the lawsuit initially and ended up being about saving their relationship, she is doing the same, but it is not obvious to him yet.

I got horribly distracted by a web "journalist"s spitballing this morning, so I really had to pull back and think about this episode. I'm so weary of the entire storyline. Thank god we are heading for its conclusion. Poor Owen. that look on his face when they all quit was just awful, after he thanked Derek for having his back, and expecting Cristina to have his back too. Great job by KMK. I too thought the first scene a little icky. What in the heck were they doing? Don't tell me. but seriously? Not sexy. Playful, yes, but still. I agree with hopew. Cristina's development was very clearly laid out for me, but I hate hate hate the entire construct of even more secrets, and Owen feeling betrayed. So over it. I like Alana Cahill's character, but I do not agree with those who see such an important friendship between them. They are professionally dependent upon each other to try to right the listing ship, and that is all. She's not being his friend. And the second the Pegasus plan fails, Cahill is all focused on her own reputation, not Owen's professional disaster. browncoatwhit, as for leaving Richard in the dark, they are setting up even further an us/them scenario. Bailey, Alex, Avery and Richard are all in the dark. They are heading for a confrontation before the resolution. Keep that pesky reality fairy in check for just a little while longer and this will hopefully all be behind us. I loved Arizona telling Derek off, and Derek getting Shane to deface his own posters. Trinity, you are absolutely right about Bailey's ridiculous request. You would think she would be aware tht it was pie in the sky, but she had many years of such exotic treatment plans to be the norm, so I kind of forgave it. I loved all of the names for the LLC, Death Spiral was my favorite. And poor Owen standing in the rain screaming for Cristina I think I will be caving and watching sneaks next week. The tension will kill me otherwise.

They were two professionals stuck working with each other trying to find the best solution out of a desperate situation. I didn't see a friendship there. Just two people having respect for each other's work and as individuals. No more. The person Owen trusted and confided the most throughout this episode was Cristina. That's why he was so so hurt at the end of the episode. Though we know why she is doing it.

This not what I'm saying, and I *do* think they were make loving and that there was a lot of emotion in there. But I was expecting something different and there is also something I can't point thay annoyed me.

I think that scene is as one says TOO MUCH INFORMATION....a little too much for network television...it just conjures an image which which we really dont want to know... may be thats why it was a little icky What disturbs me in this scene is that, at first Owen tried hard to give Cristina this feeling of orgasm, she was pleased and satisfied, then she flipped him over, and now it´s time for Owen, but he didnt´ expect it, it´s his turn to be pleased, so she does her job. This is what mainly disturbs me, why didn´t they try to come together if I can say it like that?To be happy simultaneously, to feel the sexual pleasure together. This is what disturbs me about the scene. For example, in 613 in that short scene, it felt different, it felt like they were both in sync, being pleased together, not this COMPROMISE,I will please you and then you will do the same to me. Though Owen was definitely surprised when she flipped him over. At first he was just ecstatic that she is happy. I might be wrong in the explanation, but this is the way I see why this scene doesn´t work for me and I have to cringe at it. The second and third scene in the bed were much better, more tender, more emotional and the last short kiss compared with the first sex scene was a thousand times more worth watching. I guess the voiceover is very telling during the first scene - "the goal is compromise", she is pleased, then it is Owen ´s turn - "a situation where everybody wins." I think when translated it is about the baby issue, we are coming to its resolution in the future episodes.
