Geeze, I like your thinking.
Sadly, in light of recent spoilers, I think we're headed in the opposite direction for a little while.
I still believe it has the potential to be great though and create a bit more tension. In fact, building some barriers between them means it will be all the sweeter when they get broken down. I do hope we have a bit of a redux of the SP in terms of tension and fun interactions at some point. I am thinking we might get that in the finale.

From USA Today: Welcome back, Grey's; almost all is forgiven. It's fitting that the redemptive power of a well-delivered apology is one of the show's running themes over the next two weeks. If ever a series was in need of seasonal redemption, it's this one. Happily, for those still willing to forgive, the first two post-hiatus outings are Grey's at its moving, funny, broad-stroke best — so good, they may even make up for the midseason slump that preceded them. There's no question that the Return of Dead Denny story line tested the patience of even the most devoted fans, going on too long, going way too far, and turning Izzie into a sex-crazed idiot while exceeding the bounds of acceptable Grey's silliness. Still, the show has a habit of (or talent for) wandering down seemingly unpromising byways only to arrive at a surprisingly felicitous destination. So it has again, as Izzie's battle with cancer has brought Katherine Heigl back into the fold and the show back on point. As always, multiple stories play out, most reflecting upon each other. Izzie's cancer and Meredith and Derek's upcoming wedding are driving plot points, but other issues and characters hover around, from George's gift for trauma surgery to Owen's inability to deal with his own traumas.Parental issues also come to the fore. Next week, Izzie gets a visit from her mother (Sharon Lawrence); this week, Callie gets a visit from her father (Hector Elizondo), a story that finally puts a meaningful spin on Callie's sexuality, rather than reducing it to a tease or a joke. There are light moments, but you're more likely to remember the somber ones: Bailey pleading sotto voce with a father to hug his dying child and accept the inevitable, or another character finding a way to say "I love you" when the words themselves won't work. This is Grey's as you hope it will be, pinning its flourishes to real feelings and keeping its exaggerations to a minimum. Even so, TV is not a one-size-fits-all medium: If this show has never worked for you, it probably won't Thursday night. This is not a transformative episode; it's a return to form, proof that within that form, as Meredith says, "We can always try to be better, to do better." www.usatoday.com/life/television/reviews/2009-04-22-greys-anatomy_N.htm

..........or another character finding a way to say "I love you" when the words themselves won't work. Another question for speculation. How does he tell her that he loves her without actually telling her? I must say I don't see how the words won't work. That seems to me to be the shortest distance between two points, but whatever. And despite all that setup about his supposed struggle with being able to talk to her about his feelings, I don't buy that because it doesn't get more declaratory than "I think you're beautiful" and "I want to be around 40 years from now" to me. Anyhoo, one way is to buy her that engraved platinum scalpel that I read about in one fanfic or (gag) a promise ring.

It may be something like when he said the "I wanna be around 40 years from now" line.. The words probably don't work because he can't verbalize his feelings, at least that's what I think if this happens before he is in the therapy session, or after if it is when she gives him 3 phrase words he CAN say that don't include I love you

At last night’s Big Bang Theory event at PaleyFest ‘09, leading lady Kaley Cuoco revealed to EW exclusively that she’s Seattle Grace-bound. “I am working on Grey’s Anatomy next week,” she confirmed. “It is a big ol’ secret. I have no clue what I am doing. I swear on my life that I have no idea what I am playing because it is the finale and they are keeping it under wraps until the last possible moment.” Source: The Ausiello Files
spoiler Junkie
EW just confirmed The mystery surrounding Kaley Cuoco’s top-secret role in Grey’s Anatomy’s May 14 season finale has been solved! She’s playing… no one!A spokesperson for the Big Bang Theory star just released the following statement: “Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts on behalf of The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco regrettably will be unable to guest star on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. Kaley is a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy and hopes to work with them in the future.”
Is there more to this story than meets the eye? You tell me: BBT wrapped production for the season last Tuesday and Cuoco clearly told us that she wasn’t needed on the Grey’s set until this week. Sounds a little fishy, right? Let me put my detective hat on and see what I can suss out.
THIS JUST IN: Cuoco’s rep just e-mailed to say, “To clarify, it was a publicity related commitment, not a production conflict.” modified to add As a result, Grey’s has tapped former O.C. starlet Shannon Lucio (she played Caleb’s illegitimate daughter, Lindsay) to fill Cuoco’s shoes. Still unknown: Who the heck is she playing? Some of you initially (and understandably) speculated that, based on Cuoco’s resemblance to Katherine Heigl, perhaps the character is a relative of Izzie’s. That possibility seems less likely with the casting of Lucio… or does it? ABC isn’t spilling. EW

He did struggle with getting to the "I think you're beautiful" line all episode and I actually think he intended for something else to come out. Something which would actually address what happened in the alleyway. But Owen is not such a verbal guy and "I think you're beautiful" is the best he could do.
I think it makes sense. I just can't figure out a non-cheesy way for him to show Cristina Yang, who doesn't do romance, that he loves her. I know I won't be disappointed, because I never am with these two, but my brain just won't stretch far enough outside of the square to come up with anything plausible.

I wonder as well if it will be like the first scene after the Joe's bar kiss when he was trying to talk to Cris outside and the words just wouldn't work for him..

I'm betting we get another C/O scene that ranks right up there with "I think you're beautiful", "40 years", or "See me". It might not be happy, but I'm sure it will be emotional and unforgettable--that's the only way KMK does his job. Can't wait--AND staying away from any more spoilers!

Grey’s Anatomy: Diagnosis Positive By Matt Roush April 23, 2009 09:37 AM EST Is that laughter I hear coming from the cancer ward? A hospital room being transformed into a bridal-gown changing room? Must be Grey’s Anatomy, back after a nearly month-long break with its formula of romantic tragicomedy and sudsy angst in full make-you-giggle/make-you-sniffle froth. Maybe its absence has made my heart grow fonder, but it sure seems to me (on the basis of this and next week’s episodes) that Grey’s emotional vitals are once again strong. Despite all of the pitfalls of this season, and they have been plentiful and terrible, if you still love these characters you’re likely to love what’s happening to each of them—even the ill-used George—as we head into the season-ending sweeps month. The collision of medical drama and soap opera is most acute in Izzie’s hospital room, where her nearest and dearest are trying to soften the blow of her aggressive chemo treatments and looming surgery for cancer by letting her obsess on plans for Meredith and Derek’s wedding. It’s hardly a surprise that Meredith is less a traditional than a reluctant bride, only blushing when forced to parade in swishy fabrics and tiaras. But she’ll kinda grin and bear it for her sick friend. So will you. In other quasi-comic-relief subplots, “little Grey” Lexi, a nervous Nellie now that her romance with Sloan is public, overcompensates by overeating (a nod to Chyler Leigh’s otherwise hidden pregnancy). OK, that’s just silly and a little insulting. Much better is the subplot for Callie, as her overprotective-to-the-point-of-violence father (Hector Elizondo) returns to straighten out (bad choice of words) her messy personal life. Good luck with that. The best and most moving material this week goes to Bailey, learning another grueling life lesson about working in pediatrics, and to Owen, unloading to a shrink about his personal traumas while finding new respect for George’s potential as a trauma doc. Chandra Wilson and Kevin McKidd can rip your heart out without looking like they're trying. This week’s theme is about refusing to surrender, which is a pretty decent metaphor for us Grey’s fans who stuck it out during the worst moments of the Denny’s-ghost debacle and are now being rewarded. Next week’s episode, even more symbolically, is all about making amends. It seems that love, at least in the world of Grey’s Anatomy, means always having to say you’re sorry. As Meredith narrates, “When we get it right, ‘I’m sorry’ is perfect.” Few would go so far as to say Grey’s Anatomy is perfect, but just wait till next week when you see the emotional beats that await Izzie and Alex, Meredith and the Chief, Lexi and Mark, Callie and Arizona, and my current fave Owen and Cristina (whose every scene together fairly crackles with electrifying desire and anguish). No apologies necessary when the show is this good. www.tvguidemagazine.com/matt-roush-daily-review/greys-anatomy-diagnosis-positive-799.htmlI can't wait!

Oh man I love Matt Roush : "Owen and Cristina: whose every scene together fairly crackles with electrifying desire and anguish" has to be the best and most accurate description of this couple! I'm so glad he's shipping for them and is obviously a huge fan of KMK. BTW if you leave comments on the piece he writes at TVguidemagazine, he'll usually reply in them.

Ausiello has a potential Owen and Cristina blind item, I can't see who else this would be especially when he hints that the bun in the oven girl might have company as well as the bit about the daddy's issues are something only a psychologist (Wyatt?) or surgeon (Derek?) can fix.. interesting: ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/04/blind-item-shoc.html?xid=rss-ausiellofiles-Blind+item+shocker%3A+Someone%27s+having+a+baby%21Blind item shocker: Someone's having a baby! Apr 24, 2009, 04:04 PM | by Michael Ausiello Categories: Blind Item Congratulations are in order! A major female character on a popular and highly rated hour-long drama series will learn that she's pregnant next month. Come to think of it, hold off on the congratulations. This is far from a happy occasion. You see, the expectant mom will be none too thrilled to find herself with child. For starters, the timing couldn't be worse -- both professionally and personally. And then there's the baby daddy. He's been, um, going through some stuff lately. Personal stuff. The kind of stuff only a psychologist and/or a surgeon can fix. A kid is an extra dose of crazy he probably doesn't need right now either. On the other hand, maybe a new life is exactly the kind of game-changing event these two do need. As the saying goes, good things come in initially small packages. Of course, there's an added wrinkle I have yet to mention. The bun in her oven? It may have company.Who will unexpectedly find herself in a family way and then some? Deliver your best guesses to the comments section below!

Well duh. They screwed intensely enough for it to be sextuplets (no pun). I still will die hard believe that Love will triumph in the happy ending.

I certainly don’t want Cristina to be pregnant. It will ruin all the jaw dropping, tension filled, sexually charged moments that surely lie ahead for these two amazing characters. Lets save the pregnancy for at least season 7!!

They seem to be bringing back alot of things from the first few seasons to show how much each character has grown (like an anvil to the head) so I can see Shonda doing this.

I can totally see Cristina keeping it, but not as a way to help 'fix' Owen. But because I think she really sees a future with him . I think if this happens we will be totally surprised at Cristina's reaction to the process, I can picture her getting all into the clinical side of it. I also think that whatever happens in the 100th episode she's going to at some point tell Owen about Burke, her last pregnancy, etc. My only hope is that they find out in the 100th ep I don't want it to be a huge cliffhanger. Plus I think this is kind of where Owen's mom arrives. I also really hope they wait to tell Mer/Der and Co. I can't see Mer taking this well, esp. considering her recent reactions to Owen. If anythnig it will lead to another huge fight with Cris and Mer.

Grey's Anatomy (May 14, ABC) Series creator Shonda Rhimes reportedly told her cast that "life-changing things" are in store for every major Seattle Gracer. Now, Shonda being Shonda, details are scarce. What we do know is that the two-hour finale's guest-star roster includes Debra Mooney (Everwood) and Liza Weil (Gilmore Girls), respectively playing Owen's mother and a cancer patient who bonds with Izzie. Among the twists you can count on are a reveal that paves the way for T.R. Knight's possible exit, and a surprising declaration from one of the interns.
