Only the fact that he uses a different accent is enough!

Kevin got nothing? What did they expect him to do? Amazing performances and emotional range and he got shafted? This is ridiculous. My only consolation is that the other guys got nothing AND neither did KH thank God. Fingers crossed that he goes to the Emmys anyway with the group and that he still wears the kilt anyway.

Yeah its disappointing, I'm glad Aaron Paul from breaking bad got a nom though he's amazing on that show. I think Sandra has it this year for her category.

Yes, Sandra has to thank Kevin and I hope he'll be there.

GA got 5 nominations overall. Sadly (very, very sadly) KMK was not among them. Sandra got a nod though - so that is good.

Agreed about Eric Stoltz. He did a fantastic job playing the sociopathic William..

She's had other great scenes aside from just with Kevin this year, like great stuff with Ellen and even with Alex and Izzie. but at least the Emmy people didn't nominate Heigl that would have been a slap in the face for us.

Agreed about Eric Stoltz. Equally as insulting: William Shatner got a nom for supporting actor and Kevin didn't?? Uh...whatever. I'm a Star Trek fan from way back but not for Shatner's acting abilities. Is this the pity nom on the committee's part? Gods, give me a break.cdn.emmys.com/category/nomination-category/outstanding-supporting-actor-drama-seriesModified to add: I've seen Shatner's work on Boston Legal. IMHO it does not hold a candle to anything Kevin did last year. I give vent to my "feelings" in Rome. I'm sorry, but I had to say something bad!

It's disappointing that Kevin didn't get nominated but the Emmy is just an award and awards aren't everything. It certainly doesn't diminish his talent or achievement in any way.
When you think about it, Kevin was a guest star for half of this season, didn't appear in all of the episodes and in the episodes he was in, sometimes he had mere minutes of screentime. Emmy nomination or no Emmy nomination, to get the kind of recognition he did get this season from television critics with the screentime he had and to even make some of their Emmy shortlists/wishlists in his first season on the show is an incredible achievement.
He is only warming up and I know the future holds great things.

I am survived to the yesterday's hot, to the terrible humidity and the big nerviness without killing anyone! ;D And now we have to say with cold brain things as they are , without being false people and doing the banality fair (I wish we can avoid to say even that there are bigger problems like people dying in Africa)! This is a forum where persons write what they think as tv/cinema critics (who are not infallible) do (obviously without being offensive). To be silent is not a solution! We need to say something when we think that something is not right. Today I can say that I'm glad for Chandra and Sandra, (I don't think that anyone here said anything bad against Sandra, who is loved here almost like Kevin, but everyone can says that to give a nomination only to Ken and not to Sandra and vice versa is without sense! Both were related/connected and outstanding!), because I strongly wanted a nomination for them, other than for Kevin and Eric Stolz, but absolutely I think that "Izzie's Mum" didn't deserved the nomination! Come on! Look to that list below and have the courage to say that almost all the other actors/actress deserved more than she!! GUEST ACTRESS (DRAMA): Grey’s Anatomy (Tyne Daly) (Carolyn Shepherd) Grey’s Anatomy (Faye Dunaway) (Dra. Margaret Campbell)Grey’s Anatomy (Kimberly Elise) (Dra. Swender, the oncologist) Grey’s Anatomy (Melissa George) (Sadie Harris) Grey’s Anatomy (Sharon Lawrence) (Robbie Stevens, Izzie’s mom) Grey’s Anatomy (Amy Madigan) (Dra. Wyatt) Grey’s Anatomy (Samantha Mathis) (Melinda Prescott, patient’s mother) Grey’s Anatomy (Mary McDonnell) (Dra. Virginia Dixon) Grey’s Anatomy ( Kate Walsh) (Addison)Grey’s Anatomy (Jennifer Westfeldt) (Jen Harmon, patient) GUEST ACTOR (DRAMA): Grey’s Anatomy (Obba Babatunde) (David Gates, patient) Grey’s Anatomy (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) (Denny) Grey’s Anatomy (Ben Shenkman) (Rob Harmon, Jen’s husband) Grey’s Anatomy (Eric Stoltz) (William Dunn, the serial killer)Grey’s Anatomy (Daniel J. Travanti) (Barry Patmore, patient)

Genius, everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think it also needs to be remembered that this sort of thing is subjective and everyone sees things differently. I don't think there is such a thing as "right" or "wrong" when it comes to nominations, only a difference of opinion and view.
I might not have personally chosen Sharon Lawrence to be on that list but I don't think she's a bad actress and her performance must have resonated for other people in order for her to end up on that list. If I'm not mistaken, these nominations aren't chosen by a panel but rather by majority vote of academy members (who come from all areas of the industry).
Sandra and Kevin worked amazingly well together and had some incredible scenes but on the whole, the character of Cristina had a lot more screentime and focus than Owen did. It's not inexplicable to me that one ended up nominated while the other did not but I don't think the result is a commentary on level of talent.
