This thread is for discussion of the spoilers and tidbits which appear in our "Spoilers Only" thread and for general speculation on what's coming.
Any new spoilers should FIRST be posted in the Spoilers Only thread. This will hopefully avoid duplication of information and also make it easier for people who just want to read the spoilers but not wade into the discussion or the speculation.

In response to this in the Spoiler thread:
The actress that plays Derek's sister smiles WAY too much esp when she's giving people bad news. Its soo annoying. Obviously an acting thing with me, but still. When you're telling someone they're dying would you be smiling?

Well I watc PP from time to time but the actress gets on my nerves, just her acting style. I don't like her in a lot of things I've seen but the over smiling is annoying. If you ever see an episode you will know what I mean

The English teacher in me was cringing when I read that from Shonda... But then again, I'm not surprised... Anyways, I looked through the internet a bit, but couldn't find any details on Kim Raver being a cast member in s7... Do we have scoop yet?

Anyways, I looked through the internet a bit, but couldn't find any details on Kim Raver being a cast member in s7... Do we have scoop yet? Krista confirmed on twitter she would be back next season about a month ago. However Shonda said in her EW interview that ABC hasn't picked up everyone yet for next season. This was a answer to the question about Kim Raver in season 7, so who knows. Shonda did make it clear she wants her back next season.

Clearly Shonda does not give whatever about what the fans want... I don't mind KR as an actress but as a character on GA... She could just remain a recurring character *snarks* As long as they bring back all the regulars from s5, I'm fine... Kinda...

At Matt's column at fancast.com today, Marry Me Owen's question was answered, about Teddy returning. Matt said that, according to his sources, Raver is a "lock" to come back as a regular next season. Of course, they wrote the character of Erica Hahn out midseason, but . . . .

Maybe Mark turns her gay and then she has a breakdown and has to leave...

Speculation/ Wish: I'm rewatching s1 at the moment while proofreading a diploma thesis, and I really really really want Dead Baby Bike Race to make an appearance again so that Owen can kick some trauma butt

Maybe Mark turns her gay and then she has a breakdown and has to leave... Hadn't noticed this before, but it is a great theory. Before her breakdown and departure, Teddy can have a serious crush on Arizona (since she apparently has a history of falling in "love" with her friends), Arizona can feel conflicted about her feelings, and there can be a triangle involving Callie, Arizona and Teddy. That's the kind of "original" story line that Shonda kind of specializes in, don't you think?

Now how did you come up with that idea?
This is something that Grey's has never done before... A triangle!!! *dripping with sarcasm*
Or how about Teddy being run over by one of the bikers in the Dead Baby Bike Race? *sorry, cannot get that idea out of my head... *

Shonda said all the characters are going to be "reset" and I think you have some particularly good ideas about how to "reset" old Tedious. Although if she is run over by a biker, that would qualify as a trauma, so we might be stuck watching scenes where Owen is her doctor. How about a brain tumor instead? That would give her a chance to interact with other cast members - - Derek (or even better Shadow Shepard) can do her surgery and they can have LOTS of scenes together. Then, I can fast forward through her scenes without missing any KMK!

She could have halluciantions about Dan, that guy that died in Iraq... We haven't had dead guys running around in a brain tumor patient's head before I'd still go with her having a breakdown because otherwise Owen will be all tortured, and I cannot stomach him being angsty because of her anymore... And thanks for the praise... I think Grey's should go back to the basics in s7...

In response to this confirmation from Shonda (in the Spoilers Only thread) that Mer and Der won't be getting married:
“I deeply appreciate the fans and how much they care about Meredith and Derek, but as a woman and a human being and the mother of a girl, I just feel like this idea that somebody in a big, white dress is the be-all and end-all of human existent is a terrible message to send out,” maintains Rhimes. “I felt like Meredith and Derek’s choice to be together becomes a marriage of equals as opposed to some faux fairy tale. And while I love a good wedding, I felt like for Meredith, it was so counter to who she is as a human being. And I love the fact that Derek doesn’t need her to do it. I get why the fans want it; I’d probably want it too if I was just watching. But I literally feel sick every time think about Meredith in a big white poufy dress.”
I wanted to say that she just doesn't get it. Marriage doesn't have to equal "big white poufy dress" or some fairytale that children dream of. And that doesn't explain why they can't have Meredith and Derek be LEGALLY married, without the fanfare of a formal wedding. I don't think the fans are saying they want Meredith and Derek to have a church wedding ala Izzie and Alex. They just want to see a legal commitment, rather than just a slip of paper stuck to the wall of Meredith's locker.

This is basically the problem with GA and the writing, the writers, esp Shonda live in a fantasy world where they think they are being unconventional and cool by giving the viewers what they think are acceptable versions of the characters dreams. And does she forget that on twitter she confirmed to someone that Mer/Der's post-it wedding was more of a homage to gay and lesbian couples that still can't legally marry? This is exactly why I don't trust anything Shonda says in interviews. So even though she says the triangle is over, I will believe it when I see it.

On one hand, as someone who had a pretty non-wedding wedding, I get where she's coming from in terms of not wanting the big poufy dress to be the point. And I also totally get that the romance of lifelong commitment can come whether one has a license and a ring or not. That being said, they've always said the post-it note was Meredith and Derek's wedding so I guess I'm not surprised she would keep saying what she's saying. Yet what she's also said over and over again is that these two characters have gotten their happy ending in terms of they're always going to be together. And yet, if I was a fan of this pairing I would feel robbed by this statement coming on the heels of their SF storyline. It's interesting that SR wrote ep. 100 in which we saw Alex, in many ways, step up and become the man we always thought he might and Izzie got the dream wedding she always wanted. (One can debate endlessly whether or not the Alex and Izzie deal was sealed with that wedding or limped along until KH/SR decided Izzie wasn't coming back after all.) But presumably that was because Izzie believes in such fairytales and dark and twisty Meredith does not. But now, grown and whole Meredith believes in wanting babies, so who knows.
